Sephiroth
11 March 2012 @ 12:00 am
[[ooc: This song will be playing wherever Sephiroth goes today, sometimes softly, sometimes loudly, depending on his mental state. The song may also attempt to drown out others' songs, as it's not a song with a good attitude. Anyone who understands Latin will be easily able to comprehend the lyrics. (So comforting, aren't they?) I just couldn't resist using his theme song for this curse.]]

I. The park
In the morning and in the afternoon, responsible caretaker that he is, Sephiroth can be found taking his chocobo on a walk. The black bird has grown larger, although it will not be mature for some time. It's now about the size of a large terrier, and runs quite quickly through the grass, though it never leaves Sephiroth's sight. It doesn't seem to know what to make of the music today, cocking its head to one side curiously whenever the song swells.

Veni, veni, venias,
Ne me mori facias

II. The library
He's rather annoyed when the music doesn't cease as he goes to look for new reading material. Unfortunately, his annoyance only causes the song to grow louder, to his increased frustration, which in turn increases the volume of the song (a vicious spiral).

Estuans interius
Ira vehementi

III. Training
Unable to find any escape from the music, Sephiroth was unable to concentrate on his reading and finds himself uneasy and restless instead, the music never leaving him. So he has found an open space on the edge of the City, and there he is practicing. His training is perhaps an odd sight, when it can be seen, for he can move faster than the eye can see. Flashes of fire and light accompany his session, and combined with the music, it's hardly a comforting sight.

Sors immanis

★ Ariadne
11 March 2012 @ 12:00 am
[ It's early in the morning when Ariadne makes her network post and she's obviously still tired, nursing a cup of coffee. The reason she's awake might be obvious -- in the background, even though there are no speakers anywhere nearby, a song is playing. ]

You know, I've never heard this song before in my life.

[ There's a pause so she can yawn into her cup of coffee. ]

But I think I like it. I'd like it even more if it didn't wake me up, though.

Garrus Vakarian
11 March 2012 @ 12:22 am
[Typical Garrus on his typical way through town. Well, except for the music that keeps following him. It follows him as he grabs a dextro-safe drink, to the hardware store, the drug store, and just walking around town.]

Well, I guess this could be worse. At least it's not half the music they play in Chora's Den.

[OOC: Link leads to a Dragon Age amv of the song. It's a Bioware game, so close enough.]

Uchiha Sasuke
11 March 2012 @ 12:23 am
Music? Right, obviously part of some curse today. [he just scoffs, he sounds really irritated right now, he's somewhat bandaged up a bit but he's pretty much recovered by now] Probably worse than the ticking since there doesn't seem to be a way get rid of it either.

Filtered to people he attacked )

[ooc; Aftermath of the desert city stuff with the slug attacks as per this plot with Sasuke. Slightly delayed since he was recovering from what happened, but everyone he encountered if they hadn't talked about it before can see the filter, if they hadn't exchanged names it's just picking up on their network ID in that case]

Jack ❝ Wynand ❞ (Ryan)
11 March 2012 @ 12:24 am
I'm guessing all of this...music is just another curse. [The music he speaks of is fairly upbeat, perhaps surprisingly so considering his uneasy expression. He glances over his shoulder as if expecting to find someone standing behind him with a boombox at any moment.]

Has anyone figured out how to get it to, uh...to change?

( OOC: this post itself is video, but he'll be roaming around the City all day, so feel free to have your character bump into him for an action thread! )

Lockdown
11 March 2012 @ 12:34 am
[As Lockdown drives around, one can hear a distinctive and, dare one day, catchy tune following him about. It also follows his avatar around whenever he uses it.]

As if I needed more reasons to avoid human music for the rest of my life.

[OOC: Obvious music choice is obvious. I couldn't resist.]

Charlene Roberta McGee
11 March 2012 @ 03:54 am
[At first, nothing. Maybe Charlie's lucked out? Maybe she's not cursed. And maybe, instead of her regular alarm going off, the City decides she's to wake up to this? Yeah. It's that one. Sorry, Charlie. You're just not that lucky.

The City is treated to a shot of Charlie's bedroom. The blankets are a pile, one foot sticking out from underneath and when the music starts, a pale, thin hand shoots out towards the clock on the nightstand. It smacks the clock once, twice, three times and then Charlie's head peeks out from under the blanket to glare at the clock in confusion.]

...the hell?

[She tries turning it off again, frowning more before shrugging and standing. Stretching, running fingers through her hair and then she notices the device is on. She picks it up and sits again and from the faint bounce, she's sat on her bed.]

There some music curse going on today?

[For Ed; Action; Sometime around 9:43 PM.

Charlie's out. She's stopped at a deli for dinner and she's on the way home trying her damn best to avoid everyone because this shit is ridiculous. A music curse? Really? She didn't even know half the songs that were stalking her. One hot roast beef sandwich and bag of chips in a bag, a can of soda in her backpack and she was set to basically say 'fuck today' and hide in her room.

Because that'll happen without her running into anyone else. Suuuure it will.]

Ken Ichijouji
11 March 2012 @ 08:49 am
[He might sound just a tiny bit irritated right now.]

I'm staying inside for the remainder of the day.

[And, yes, all you can hear in the background is blissful silence.]

[ When the feed kicks in, Bucky looks more than a little bemused but pleased. Figuring out that it's curse day had been pretty easy, and at least her prefers this to the last few. In The Mood woke him up pretty early, but it's the kind of song that can't be unpleasant, and his grin kicks in. ]

Now this is music boys and gals. It actually sounds good. And you sure can dance to it.

[ Pause as it starts up again. ] And hey, it could be worse. Least it ain't This Is The Army, Mr. Jones. You guys don't know how much that follows a person around. It's blasting out'a every dance hall and you can't hustle up a group to it no matter how hard y'try. [ A long beat. ] Awh hell, now it's stuck in my head. It's been out for a year and it bugs the crap out of me. That an' Kiss Me Goodnight, Sergeant Major. This guy I know, Falsworth, he just keeps loopin' it around every mornin' when a guy's trying to get some shut eye. Good soldier, punk taste in music.

[ There is genuine fondness in Bucky's tone, because as much as he cherishes his time here, it's nice to think of home. He doesn't care if it's making him come off as some backward jerk either, he's enjoying it. ] And if this stuff starts blarin' the Andrew Sisters, I'll let you know.

Dulcie
[Dulcie's face appears, quite close to the camera. It's clear she was crying, fairly hard, not too long ago. For now though, her face looks calm. She bites her lip, looking away from the camera for just a moment before she settles her large brown eyes back on the screen.]

Hi everyone. I...

I'm going home.

I wish I had more time to come and find you all and tell me how much you mean to me. I've been around for a long time. A really long time. And I can safely say without even the teeniest bit of doubt in my mind that this has been the best year of my life. I'll miss you all so much...

[She looks close to crying again, and claps her hand over her mouth, holding it in.]

I'm kinda glad this curse is happening today. It means I can leave you with something.

So here you go, City. This one's for you.

[A song begins.]

I love you. Take care of yourselves, okay?

[There's a fizzle and a crack and when the video comes back on, Dulcie's gone. The song ends, and the video blacks out.]

[ooc: That's all folks...]

Anna Assaoui ✝
11 March 2012 @ 11:37 am
[The music is soft, a soft voice with a light piano. The video shows a woman in a hospital bed -- a woman? or a very delicate boy? the head has been shaved, but perhaps the facial feature are that of a woman, haggard as they are -- is fast asleep as the lullaby plays. There is a faint pinch in her expression, troubled even in her sleep, but perhaps that is not so surprising when one looks at the state of her. She has only been freed from her captors a week, and she is still bruised, still gaunt.

But there is time to heal now.]

[[ooc; Because of Anna's injuries, she won't be able to do much at all this month. So, just to get her around a bit, here we go. Visiting her at the hospital and showering her with flowers and stuffed things would be really awesome. She won't be able to talk much, but she would be happy to listen to someone else talk, if you've got a story-teller type.]]

(carolena) lady of sorrows
11 March 2012 @ 12:10 pm
[Carla is looking pleased with herself, for once. Although why that might be is... probably not going to be immediately obvious to anyone else because the entire video is blaring with a very loud noise. A steady stream of a drumline, a vocalist who shrieks and growls constantly. It makes a cacophonous sort of white noise. She has always said she isn't a big fan of music, maybe this explains it.

Sitting on a park bench, watching the agitated looks of the people who walk past her, Carla is all smiles now, popping jelly beans into her mouth one by one. When she addresses the camera she isn't quite audible, but one might be able to read her lips,]

I don't think I'm coming to work today.

[[ooc; Please assume there is high volume death metal shrieking away in all threads unless otherwise designated, please and thank you!]]

Evil Ed :: Fright Night (2011)
11 March 2012 @ 12:23 pm
Well this could be worse.

[In the background, a creepy male voice and an organ are providing accompaniment; Ed seems more amused than anything else.]

Do you ever think as a hearse goes by that you may be the next to die? They wrap you up in a big white sheet, from your head down to your tiny feet.

...I could've done without waking up to Coldplay, but whatever. At least whatever's doing this has a sense of humor?

[Video - The feed starts up to show Huey engaging in combat against a group of three boys while a rather small crowd was watching from the side. A rather unusual sight, though even more unusual is the fact that while the rather one-sided battle, in Huey's favor, was the music which was playing amongst the background.

Parrying a blow aimed for his face, the unwitting protege of Dean Winchester delivered a open palm strike to his attacker's jaw before hopping back a few steps.]

Honestly, starting a fight where you had the element of surprise and you all are still failing. Anyways, you haven't even declared why you decided to attack me out of the blue. Not that I don't mind, I was wanting more practical application of my style.

No way...you were staring at our girls' boobs. [A large and stocky looking boy states after spitting on the ground.]

Yeah, I'm gonna knock you out if it's the last thing I do. [Declares a slightly shorter and slimmer boys says.]

[At this the opposing boys all nodded in agreement while Huey on the other hand sighs before dropping his stance, turning around and walking away.]

Get back here!  [The last member of the trio, a clean cut looking boy, says as he holds a hand to a eye that was swelling slowly.]

Like Hell I will. I don't feel like continuing beating on dumbasses with poor conflict resolution skills. Also, I can't help it if my height puts me at eye level for the breasts of most women, not that I attempt to exploit this. [Huey says before the boys quickly surround the afro sporting teen who dodges the first punch lazily before leaping into the air and striking one of his opponents with a double tornado kick before the feed ends.]

[ for a minute there's just a rustling, accompanied by this song, and then simon flicks over to video. he looks less than pleased, frowning at the camera. he opens his mouth to speak, but the clash of symbals interrupts him and he frowns, waiting until the crescendo of the song winds down to say... ]

I don't even like showtunes.

11 March 2012 @ 01:54 pm
[ natasha sounds so transparently irritated. the tap tap tap of her fingers against the comm are in time to the song blaring in the background, despite her obvious disapproval. ]

Well, isn't this annoying.

Stephen Stills
[Stephen's at work in the kitchen, chopping onions. There's music in the background, playing what sounds like a live version of an extremely energetic garage-rock tune. Not realising the video is on, he starts singing along.]

Well later she came with flowers in her arms
Said we can do it in the car
My brother owns it, the driver seat is made for love
And I said I'd rather grab a bite to eat
There is a diner down the street
Let's take it easy and join this lovely harmony

But I never ever wanted to
You would never ever let me to
I would but you must wait 'til it gets dark
So what is it that you want me to?
I can make it if it's good for you
So play me some from 1954
Before rock'n'roll
Yeah, before rock'n'roll
Before rock'n'roll

[He starts air-guitaring during the bridge, knocking the device with his elbow and shutting it off with a burst of static.]

[The Man With No Name]
11 March 2012 @ 02:51 pm
-42-
[Video Post]
[The image comes rising up out of the settling clouds of electric and electronic dust that seem to forever swirl around in the Network. Still, there isn't much to see--well, there's enough:

It's afternoon in the barn and the sunlight is streaming in as always, falling in golden beams that look more accustomed to adorning the insides of cathedrals more than the insides of barns. There are dust motes dancing in most of them and a few small birds go slipping through from shadow to shadow. There's darkness and hay and the raw wooden walls, and the sound of a horse breathing. The image shakes--or, rather, the device is shaken. Seems like it's been hung on a saddle again. It's quiet there--mostly. There's some soft sound in the background, rising a little...

If you know him by his shape or by his walk, it seems a certain Man is walking across the floor of the barn (stirring up more dust to dance in all that Baroque light) and towards the door--which he throws open to show the afternoon beyond the barn and all the fragile new grass and green budding things beyond. He stands in the doorway for a while, caught in silhouette unawares, looking out at the afternoon. He scratches his chin for no real reason.

And, all the while, in the background, this song is playing--quietly, almost dreamily, like someone's just fooling around with a guitar and the sound's drifting out from some open window somewhere... And yet, it persists...

After a moment or two, he turns around again and walks back to the Network device and the saddle on which it has been hung and the horse on which the saddle has been put. He comes up out of the shadow, almost taking shape out of it, and the music seems to follow, rising up again, taking on more shape itself.

And, at the last, he stands over the device itself, looking into it, realizing it's open and recording (as ever--nothing new there) and...he smiles at it, just as that music in the background reaches its crescendo...

...and he snaps it shut, throwing up those digital clouds of dust again, and sending the recording back into shadow and--]

[//video post ends]

[ooc: I'm going to inflict my Ennio Morricone obsession on you at every opportunity. Now, technically, this is a piece that's more associated with Angel Eyes than The Man, but...it's a really good piece. So I'm bending the rules. Also, for the record, at other points during the day, this song has also been playing. Especially when he's been riding around, doing stuff. Mmmm~]

DELACROIX to VOID: 11-03-???? re: Music

Zhis is worse than the last time I was able to pull XERXES' voice sub-system. I will admit, zhat at least zhis time I am to hear somezhing other than Elvis Presley.

[She sighs. There is no music emanating off of her, but there are the muffled sounds of it around her. As an afterthought she adds,]

Rummy. I 'ave modified your weapon as a thanks. Come to collect eet and I will show you what 'as been changed.

[This is playing. Billy is scowling]

Okay you know the first time I heard this song it was okay but I'm pretty sure the face that it keeps playing like it's on repeat means that this curse is broken or something.

Yes. Magic. I get it.

Can we hear something different? I mean if we're going to talk about a song that is the story of my life, can we hear People are Strange or something?

11 March 2012 @ 05:47 pm
Alright, alright, okay I get it. There's music coming from nowhere to set the mood for whatever I'm doing, from eating breakfast to taking a walk. Sure, whatever, that's kind of weird and all, but I can live.

But.

Would it be too much to ask for music I liked? I didn't even know there were songs with lyrics specifically made for things like being annoyed or posting a message.

[There's music playing and Mara's dancing along with it. She's wearing sexy little lingerie set and trying on different dresses in the mirror. She's well aware that the camera's on and it's intentional. She's narrowed the selections down to two that she shows to the network.]

Ken, I was thinking a nice night off. Maybe dancing since I seem to come equipped today. What do you think?

This one?

Or this one?

[With that she leans over to cut the feed.]

Robert Fischer
11 March 2012 @ 07:33 pm

This is some kind of joke, right?

[ Pepper has a resigned look on her face, though it looks like she's nursing a growing headache. This plays in the background. ]

I guess it's not the worst curse possible, but it certainly is loud. And I must say, as nice as it was to wake up to Chelsea Morning-- I might change my alarm to it, even-- the "insight" to my psyche is not entirely welcome.

[ Pepper's not going out today. It's bad enough that her personal soundtrack changes every time she sees one of her friends post to the network, she doesn't want to be bombarded by whatever songs lurk out on the street. ]

Here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you.

Tony Stark
11 March 2012 @ 09:21 pm
If I have to hear one more song by Taylor Swift, I'm going to- I don't know. Deface public property. Punch a few babies. Wear white after labor day.

[Tony is grumbling as he walks through the Square and Vanessa Carlton's A Thousand Miles song plays. You know the one. All he wants is a beer not to fall into skies with teardrops on his guitar or whatever.

But after a minute of grumble-less moments, he starts to bop his head to the beat anyway.]

[Until, that is, a woman, (probably a woman- but it's a shot from behind, long dark hair and shape the only clues, wearing a suit, clutching their side), stumbles right in to the man.

She (?) looks up, reaches up- and then fists her hands in Tony's hair to yank him down to her level, and starts to kiss him. Odd enough behavior, but it's not even just a kiss, that is a deep get-a-room type of kiss.

Until its suddenly not, and the his partner just shoves him away and... Stumbles off screen.]

[For a moment, Tony is stunned. Tony Stark is not often stunned.

What the-- hey, hold the phone, I am not going to take this kind of objectification. Not without dinner and roses, anyway.

[Annnd he shoulders his way through the crowd to catch up with her.]

[The Doctor is being followed today by oddly appropriate music, and he doesn't understand why.]

I'm not dying! I already did that! Well, I mean, I didn't do that, clearly - I'm not dead - but all of that already happened! Over! How do you even know about it? Who would want to write a song about it? It's... Not bad - kind of catchy - I like the 'hungry moth' bit, and the one with the line about blinking that doesn't actually say it, good touch ther-- No! Wait, really, who wrote these?

[ooc: my sense of humour is easier than your grandmother's pet rabbit. Ten's being followed by Chameleon Circuit songs today when he's by himself. Come talk to him so he can get a break from his ego trip.]
