video: bed rest | this one goes out...
[The music is soft, a soft voice with a light piano. The video shows a woman in a hospital bed -- a woman? or a very delicate boy? the head has been shaved, but perhaps the facial feature are that of a woman, haggard as they are -- is fast asleep as the lullaby plays. There is a faint pinch in her expression, troubled even in her sleep, but perhaps that is not so surprising when one looks at the state of her. She has only been freed from her captors a week, and she is still bruised, still gaunt.
But there is time to heal now.]
[[ooc; Because of Anna's injuries, she won't be able to do much at all this month. So, just to get her around a bit, here we go. Visiting her at the hospital and showering her with flowers and stuffed things would be really awesome. She won't be able to talk much, but she would be happy to listen to someone else talk, if you've got a story-teller type.]]

Still, she doesn't want to wake her, so she's trying to be quiet and set it down so she can creep on out again. ]

Her eyelashes stir as the woman approaches the bedside, turning her head to watch silently.]
no subject
Hey. I hope I didn't wake you. [ Pause. ] This is for you.
[ The bear, obviously. Oh, this is suddenly awkward and she's not entirely sure why. ]

She is not quite so engaged as to to lift her hands, however, and her big brown eyes flick back up to Ariadne's face, staring at her without reservation.]

Video;
[Whatever the case, he peers into the screen for a better look.]
Hello...?
Video;
She has heard voices in her head before, but rarely ones she did not recognize from somewhere.
Her large eyes show that she is distressed about it, looking enormous in her gaunt face. Perhaps, if he moves around a bit, she will notice the video screen...]
Video;
A newcomer to the City, are we?
Video;
She looks down into the camera. She doesn't say anything, and she doesn't precisely nod, but she is waiting for him to carry on along that line.]

you're only coming through in waves,
your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.

he hesitates in the doorway, looking in with uncertainty on his face. the music has thankfully shifted away from showtunes to something softer, something without words, and simon hopes it stays this way, so long as he lingers in the hospital. ]
Hello. I'm Simon.
[ it's not much of a greeting, but it's the best he can do. ]

Anna swallows, and though her voice is very small, unused and hoarse, she answers,]
Hello, Simon.

He's actually off his shift for the day when he stops by, and he brings a small vase with a few bright flowers in it that he lightly sets on the bedside. She'll be here for a while; he figures it may be nice to brighten the room a bit, bring some life into it. He quietly moves to check up on her chart, trying not to disturb her.]

It's just an idle, sleepy glance that she gives him, but her attention is drawn out by the flowers, their colors and smell. She lifts her chin, inhaling deeply. Her arm curling around the stuffed bear in the bed with her is an expression of pleasure more than fear.]

I'm... not sure if you remember me. I'm Doctor Wilson.
[He purses his lips, slightly; he would almost be more surprised if she did remember him, with the condition she was in. He almost says more, but it seems wiser to take conversation slowly, bit by bit, letting her absorb and react to one thought before presenting another. Her physical injuries are obviously the least of her issues, certainly now that they're being cared for. While he has no idea what she's been through, exactly, he saw her as she arrived; that's more than enough for him to know that he should approach with a certain amount of delicacy and patience.]

The nature and extent of the damage to her body though attempts to get more of his attention than he wants to give. Abuse is abuse. He hopes for her sake that it came from people she hated. It makes the coping process easier.
Business as usual. He limps his way through.]
no subject
Hungry and bruised, that is all. The true damage is inside, where her mind and soul had begun to separate from her body. She was driven inward for that purpose, demeaned and numbed. But even then... she is waking. She is watching the world around herself, contemplating that she may get the chance to be a part of it. She watches him too, quiet and still--(the way she is used to being)--but alert, for now. She only has so much energy for it before she inevitably closes her eyes and sinks back inside.]

They are too easily penetrated by enemies, too open, there are too many sharp implements that can be used as weapons, and it's simple to hide an assassin in a white lab coat.
It's worse if you're actually injured. Which she is. Dislocated shoulder, three broken ribs, internal bleeding. No longer problematic, since she'd been treated, and now on the mend.
Which was even more vulnerable.
So she's walking- well. Slowly. Very slowly. (It's illogical- but not if she gets out of her and secures a safer place to mend.)
It's only the sight of that damned male nurse that had pestered her about resting earlier that sends her silently ducking in to the nearest room.
Anna's.]

The strangers have been friendly, though Anna has hardly been of mind and energy to give them much in reply. Still, she is not in a position to turn anyone away, she knew that. For all her fear and heartbreak, she knew that.
Only dozing lightly, Anna's eyelids flutter, inhaling deeply before turning her cheek slightly to look at the woman.]
no subject
Thinking logically, even now.
But the patient within was stirring, and she had no desire to startle the woman, not out of consideration, but to prevent her own discovery.
She lifted a finger, (left hand, her right was in a sling). Shhh.
The question was whether she'd listen.]
