I remember visiting the circus with my parents a long time ago. I can't say I particularly enjoyed seeing the animals in confinement, but some of the acts were remarkable. Of course that was before I knew I possessed an ounce of Magic.

[She is currently standing on a sidewalk, facing an unused building.]

Reparo. [Raising her wand, she seals a crack in the front door.] I'm sure it won't be that easy, but I suppose it's a start.

[Her attention returns to her communicator, gaze bright and alert.]

I've been thinking about opening a shop. Considering what I brought with me from my world, I have a few options. Then again, if I want the business to be successful, it would be best to consult you, possible costumers.

So tell me: books or potions? I wouldn't be opposed to offering both in case you wondered if that was an option too.

[Someone is very unhappy about being landed in jail. To her credit, however, she isn't panicking or crying. She knows what she has been charged with and it is ridiculous.]

I can't believe they took my wand. [Though they probably guessed what she would do to them if they didn't.] I guess all isn't lost...

[Scowling, she raises her hand and focuses on the metal bars.] Defodio! [The metal creaks and begins to bend, but it's not enough. She's stuck.]

It was worth a try. [Tucking her hair angrily behind her ears, she takes a seat and opens a book. At least they had allowed her to keep those.]

... [After a moment of staring blankly at the page, she adds:] We need to do something about this. They can't treat us like animals and get away with it.

[Hermione stares at her recorder as if she doesn't quite know what it is. In the background, someone is singing a song. She turns towards the sound, her eyes looking...glassy.]

All that is gold is rusting
No one will know
When seasons cease to change and:
How far we've gone
How far we're going
It's the here and the now
And the love for the sound
Of the moments that keep us moving

Waves crash along
The battered, lonely lighthouse
Tomorrow she's gone
And if not, someday somehow
Are these hands a waste
Well this side of mortality is
Scaring me to death
To death

Don't think about it at all
Just keep your head low
And don't think about it all

Soldier on, soldier on
Keep your heart close to the ground
Soldier on, soldier on, keep your heart
Close to the ground

[Her lips move with the words and suddenly she is on her feet. Absently, she picks up her communicator and glances at it again. She looks even more perplexed and distracted this time.]

...I can't... [The words are barely audible, but there is a clear plead for help in her eyes. There is a strange Magic at work and she can feel it. Oh yes, she can feel it in every inch of her body.

And there's nothing she can do about it.]

I have such a craving for ice cream. [Which is disgusting considering she knows where that scent is coming from.] I can see people practically melting on the street. This curse is ridiculous and I hope those affected will...solidify.

[Can you imagine those tombstones? "Here Lies ____, He/She Melted".]

Speaking of curses - as well as other ailments - I am working part-time in one of the clinics. I know not everyone is comfortable with Magical cures, but I assure you the Potions I make (when ingredients are available) are quite safe. Think of them as natural remedies.

Besides making Potions, I can also use spells if...you allow me. I promise I won't do anything that makes you uncomfortable.

[She shifts and closes something that sounds like a thick tome.]

I'm keeping track of the curses that frequent the City the most. For some of them, it might be possible to help the affected through it without the curse altering their life negatively. But I'm wary about testing my theories because the Deities might have already accounted for my abilities. In fact, I'm sure they have. [That's followed by a low sigh.] I'm not about to give up on the idea, however. I just have to outsmart them.

The current climate in the City reminds me of the war I left behind. I understand that not everyone is in control of what they do, but there are some actions that cannot be amended. If you have the courage and the ability, fight - for yourself as well as your loved ones.

[She wants to keep it short and sweet. There's no reason to make it worse for the current puppets of the Deities.]

I'm here to talk or listen if anyone needs it.

I've found...an egg. It was nestled in my hamper and, well, it looks quite strange. I can't easily identify it as a bird egg - the shell seems too thick - but I can't rule out that possibility either. Then again, what is a bird doing laying an egg in my hamper?

[This has to be the work of the Deities.]

I don't have the heart to get rid of it and I'm certainly not going to eat it. [Hamper eggs could do all sorts of things to you! ...maybe.]

Has anyone else come across an egg?

[Added after she views the network:] I see that my egg isn't the only one. Now I'm not sure what to do with it.

[Narrowing her eyes, she holds up her egg and examines it closely.]

... [There's a lot of silence on Hermione's end. She is standing before her window, gaping. A plethora of green leaves are pressed against the glass of said window...along with bright flowers.

...are those roses? Why are they - When did they -

Hermione's questions are nearly as plentiful as the leaves, which is probably why she has been struck dumb for the moment.]

I...thought...helping some of the plants at the base of the building grow would be...good? [She glances at her wand, paling.] I sincerely hope I wasn't the cause of this. I didn't use any Magic at all!

[Is it time to panic and try to remember obscure Herbology spells? You bet.]

I can't say I am a fan of sports, though while I was at Hogwarts, I did enjoy watching Quidditch Matches. If you would like for me to support your team, I don't mind doing so. I'm sure I can make a banner or something, though that would be easier if your team decided on your colors beforehand.

[Is Hermione over-thinking this? Most likely.]

Basketball isn't as dangerous as Quidditch, but be careful. It would be a shame if the fun was ruined by an injury.

[She glances at one of the courts, frowning faintly.]

It would be funny to see Wizards playing basketball...

[It wouldn't be surprising to see Hermione J. Granger showing off her abilities when she was twelve. Back then she had been over-zealous in ensuring others who had not only grown up in the Wizarding World but also possessed Magical relatives did not look down on her. As a result of her obvious ambition, she had found it impossible to make friends. Thankfully, a troll had come along and fixed her problem.

Since that time, while she is very gifted (almost effortlessly so sometimes), Hermione does her best not to show off. In fact she usually becomes downright embarrassed if someone compliments her.

Thus it's probably strange to see her casting spells in plain view of everyone in the City. Yet she is doing so with dramatic flourishes of her wand and, bit by bit, her spells are taking on a life of their own.]

Repello Muggletum... Muffliato... Protego Totalum...

[As she spells gleam, glow or burst into existence, Hermione seems to be surrounded by a barrier of sorts. Because her communicator is also inside of the barrier, everyone is privy to what she sees and hears.]

Mm...and just in case... Salvio Hexia. [She nods proudly at her work. Anyone watching will see her point her wand at her throat and mouth the word "Sonorus!" before setting the communicator on the other side of the barrier. No sound can be heard. Oh and she seems to...disappear from view.

Her barrier works perfectly.]

[Thanks to the activity yesterday - thank you, Deities - Hermione isn't looking very rested. She has managed to take a shower, however. Her hair is damp and slightly curlier than usual. She also seems to be wearing an oversized coat - which, truthfully, could double for a robe.]

I certainly hope the City isn't quite so lively tonight. [She drags her hair into a messy ponytail, her forehead furrowed.] I think I have the proper ingredients to make a sleep aid for myself, but I'd rather not use them unless I absolutely have to.

[Rubbing over her face, she picks up a quill and writes something down. Notes are important to Hermione J. Granger. Even if something doesn't ring a bell right now, it could later. One of her worst fears is being in a situation and not knowing the answer to a problem.]

If anyone (or anything) prowls around my room, I won't hesitate in Hexing you. [That's a fair warning, right? She rises from her chair and walks to a window.]

Once I'm rested, I would like to either obtain employment or attend a school - if one exists in the City. Perhaps both. [She is prone to being very busy.]

[Private to Percy & Ginny]

Percy? Ginny? Can you give me any leads?

...Harry? Ron? [This isn't right. They hadn't been near any city and yet, here she is, in the middle of one.]

I'm afraid I'm a little lost. [She does her best to keep her voice steady, though she isn't one hundred percent sure she should even be touching this...whatever it is.]

Can anyone hear me? [Her fingers graze the video button and suddenly everyone can see Hermione's tired, pale and unnerved face.]

This might be a lost cause, but I had to try. [She had tried other methods which included pacing, fretting, more pacing and pulling books out of her bag.] I think I'm going to take a look around.

[With her wand tucked up her sleeve. For all she knows, she's in the presence of Muggles and, despite the war, she doesn't feel comfortable just waving a wand around in front of them.]
