So. That door that they're working on.

My brother says that it's likely actually going to work. I think he meant that it was actually going to work, but was hedging his bets. I tend to believe him since he knows about this kind of thing.

And I'm just wondering... who here would actually stay if they had the choice? Or wouldn't go back to their own home.

I'd rather stay, personally.

[Laruna isn't looking for family. Her brother has arrived as soon as possible... though not through the door. Never by the door...

But speaking of the door that's where they are.

Laruna is sitting a little bit away from it as her brother inspects it. He's walking around with his arms behind his back before occasionally poking at it. He is the interdemensional hopping expert after all.

Eventually he wanders back, letting her ask.]

[He hesitates.]

Oh. I see. So... now what?

Dunno. It's not up to me.

Somethings never quite change.

It's a busy city street. A mixture of the urbanized City and then something a bit more fantastical and older. Electric lights mixing with globes hanging from lamps. Carriages are being drawn by horned horses. Not unicorns, even though they could be called unicorns, but horses. They've got Appaloosa spots on their sides and a few more spiky bits than should be comfortable on a horse. Dream logic says so.

To the left, it's always to the left no matter what way a person turns, is a tall black building - a temple - taking up almost a city block in the shape of a stepped pyramid. The black stone is almost like obsidian except despite the sunlight it doesn't shine. Two black stone griffins guard the entrance making people walk past them and feel judged.

"You can't go anywhere." This is from a curly red haired young man, the same age as Laruna. He wears a scowl and is shuffling cards.

He flicks one out at her. The seven of bones.

"I can go if I want to," Laruna says, crossing her arms.

"Where would you go?" the boy asks her, flicking another card. The Fool.

"Anywhere. Elsewhere." She spins in a tattered multicolored dress, motley.

"They'll kill you."

"They won't."

"You'll be an experiment."

"I won't," she assures him. "I'll fly."

A gateway opens up in the square. Are we in a square of the City now? I guess so. It opens up in front of the temple, Laruna and the young man.

Fog rolls through it. It's just this black scratching hole that smells of damp forests and candy, of dark ice and frozen sunshine. She laughs. "Don't worry."

She reaches out a hand to someone. Anyone. "Come with me?"

[[OOC: Go with her?]]

[The video clicks on with Laruna sitting on the floor. She has some small braziers going on the coffee table with pots on them. The pots are bubbling and blooping different colored substances. Frowning she lifts up a string covered in bluish wax and sighs.]

No. No. This isn't right at all. The wax here is all wrong. It's never going to be done in time...

[The would be candle gets flung across the room and she picks up another string to try again.]

[Laruna's got her shirt off and she's sort of well, checking out her chest. It's sort of amusing to have woken up yesterday with - essentially - her twin's face.]

You know, one thing I think guys have over girls is that they can be more comfortable without their shirts on.

[The video shows a sink and then water clunking out of the faucet in blobs and blocks gathering at the bottom.]

This is actually kind of.. interesting. It doesn't sound right, but it works properly. Almost.

[She runs her hand over the water and it collects up, but doesn't condense into one blob. It stays fractured despite whatever she's doing with her power. Currently trying to shape it into a pair of dancers. Bits and pieces fall off but she gathers them back up.]

With what happened to the water supply last month, I'm starting to worry.

[It's Audio for the moment and it's a very Irrate Laruna. Which is unusual for her, no?]

What are you doing here!? I can't believe you showed up. Can't you just... be somewhere else and not be here?

[A second voice, male, answers her, not at all put out by the anger.]

I'm not allowed to check up on you and see how you're doing when I've gotten the chance?

No! It's bad enough to know that you can see me here! I don't need you to actually be here!

But it's the only time I'm all- OW!! You hit me!

You deserved it! Jerk!

Laruna can be spotted stalking around town with a gentleman with a black eye following her. The man looks enough like her that it's easy to see that they're siblings, but he's got pointy ears on him unlike Laruna.]

((Laruna and her twin brother! Replies will be coming from this account or [personal profile] element_wizard))

Hi sweetie. I've got that vodka ready to try. It took me a bit longer than I thought it would.

I think if this works out well I may try some other beverages. Though I am a bit at a loss as to what to do with it all. I guess I always figured that one of my brothers would help with that end of things.

Come on over if you'd like to tell me what I need to fix.

((Totally open to the network. So if you want to help her/buy some wine/possibly dubious vodka off of her, go to it.))

[It clicks on, just briefly... long enough to show Laruna not in her normal, cheerful self.

Instead, she's curled up in a ball on the floor muttering to herself.]

I can't hear... I can't hear... where'd it go... I can't hear it... Bring it back...

[And then it clicks off.]

((Guess who just got hit by the normal person curse! No powers for her.))

[Laruna's usual bright and cheerful face appears.]

Hello, darlings, a few things.

I am in need of some taste testers, if anyone is willing. I've got a batch of wine ready to go but as any good food or drink requires, it needs to be tasted before I release it into the wild. Anyone willing to give it a shot?

Chekov, I'll be needing your help in a week or so.

Also, is there a place to give tithes to the deities? First fruits to the gods, and everything, is important.

[She'd looked around and hadn't see anything... And yes, she is saying she wants to give the deities wine.]

[Then, because she hasn't figured out how to use the filters, and probably wouldn't use them even if she knew how...]

Don't forget about our lunch date, Meyer. I'll be waiting for you!
24 April 2013 @ 06:53 am
[As was his tradition, Meyer headed in to work at the casino far before it opened, far before the rest of the employees got there. On the way, though, he noticed something on the ground -- or rather, quite a lot of somethings. Picking one up and turning it over, he discovered that it was a photo.

By the time he's arrived at the casino, he's collected quite a few of the photos, recognizing various people from the City in them, but hasn't found any of himself. Perhaps there aren't any at all, but that sounds far too easy and too kind. When his video feed clicks on, he's looking slightly confused and slightly concerned.]

I'm hesitant to even ask a question like this, but has anyone found anything that might belong to me?

[A pause as he sets down the photos he'd found on the bar.]

I just hope this curse doesn't have any of us jumping to conclusions about each other.

[And then that charming, trustworthy smile.]

I do hope some of you will come on down to Lucky's tonight. As I know all too well, sometimes these curses make us need a little... distraction.

[[OOC: Yes, of course there are pictures everywhere. Here are just a small sample of them:This man has a gun, ...and another gun, ... and gee, he really seems to like guns, ... it seems to be a fixation, he also has a business partner, who is kinda his best friend, but he doesn't want to talk about it, ... and also there was that one time he got kidnapped. You're also welcome to find any pictures of him with, say, a large quantity of heroin.]]

[Laruna's sitting cross-legged on a rock by a stream. Her feet are bare and it looks like she's been wading.]

Hello, darlings.

I've finally found a good water source around here, so I was wondering if some of you would be willing to help me with a bit of a venture. I need some vats made out of stone. Rather large, I can give dimensions, of course, but I can't make them myself.

They'll be for the wine I'm hoping to make. I'll give out shares of the first batches for helping me, if you'd like. Or we could make other arrangements.

I'm just gonna officially state, for the record...

[He gestures to the crumpled up tabloid which, unfortunately, possesses an article all about him and how he is, apparently, extremely suspicious and potentially a criminal, and, apparently, sleeping with half the women in the City. Whether any of this gets close to the truth or not, he's not exactly happy about it, especially given the ridiculous photos of him making idiotic faces.]

... this shit? It ain't funny. 'n anyone who found the time to write about it should go jump in a fuckin' lake.

[Unsatisfied with just crumpling the tabloid, he then pushes it off the table onto the floor, shakes his head, and turns off the feed.]
14 March 2013 @ 08:36 pm
It's interesting, isn't it, to think on the nature of betrayals?

[The lack of accompanying video with the voice post is probably for the best, since his tone is tense and irritated -- his face would, likely, match his voice.]

Sometimes we're betrayed by those we thought we could trust implicitly. I admit, I have very little patience for those people, as their very decision to trust anyone apart from themselves was... ill-conceived, to say the least. Sometimes we're betrayed by those we never trusted in the first place, but who we still let get too close. I needn't elaborate; I'm sure we've all experienced that particular sting of betrayal.

[A pause, and then his tone gets a little angrier.]

Sometimes, however, people find that they can't even trust themselves. That the true betrayer, the true destroyer -- of their ideals, of their beliefs, of everything they hold important -- is themselves. That, I think, is the worst betrayal of all. That is what we should all be so worked up about.

[By the time he's finished, he's practically yelling, and then there's a pause, a strangled noise of pain, and the audio shuts off quickly.]

[[Yes. He just stabbed himself. With a fork. Forward dated slightly to the 15th, just because I wanted to get this up before I had to rush off to work. Betrayals and stabbings, ahoy!]]

Where's a good place to get a drink and who wants to come with me?

[The video feed flicks on and then off, a brief vision of a woman with black hair in her face. It does this a few more times before the feed holds steady. Unlike many newcomers to the city, she doesn’t seem upset at being in this strange new location. And despite the fact that she’s sitting in the fountain, she’s not wet.

However what she is, while not wet, is wearing just a towel.]

So... this isn’t my home is it? It’s some other world, right? Tell me this is right, please. Please.... I really want to be the one who’s somewhere else for once.

[There's a pause.]

And if anyone could be so kind, could they happen to bring along some clothing. I was on my way to the bath and...

[She grins, not needing to say any more.]

[Catch the betowel'd Laruna at the fountain, because she's not going anywhere just yet.]
