Imagine an imaginary menagerie manager managing an imaginary menagerie.

[ It reads like total gibberish. But it's a code -- recognizable to any soldier from his team in Heaven's War. If old faces (Amber, Pai, Carime) are here, at least they'll get the message. I'm here where you are. ]

Here we go again. It's a beautiful day in the neighbourhood. And the tourists are scattered out like maggots with half the brains. Even under 'new management', the City never changes.

As for me, I have time to kill. A ton of it. The City's a waiting room, and life here's a waiting game, but I'm getting good at it. Who would have imagined? Probably not those I knew before. But if they're not about to confirm or deny, I guess you'll have to take my word for it.

[ Come on, guys. Take the bait. Let him know you're here. ]

Loki
[He's sitting on one of those concrete retaining walls, legs dangling, the backs of his sneakers thudding against the cement as Serrure idly moves them. His elbows are hooked over a bar in the metal railing and he's lazily holding the phone up to talk at it.]

Not many people seem surprised at the influx of visitors... though I suppose... hello and welcome! Is anyone up for a game of chance? A game of luck?

[He pans the camera down to the sidewalk below him, where a table and cards are set up.]

Three card monte, everyone's a winner!

What the hell? You're all still here?

[Damn it, he went to go hunt because of this. Now he resurfaces and you people aren't gone?]

Geez. Get lost already.

[She'ol is so lively today! And there in the middle of all of it is Nathan. He does thrive on watching people so naturally he's at his business for the day.]

Hello there, everyone~ I just wanted to let you all know that if you come to visit She'ol today that drinks are on the house. Naturally the dancers are not but if you talk to me very nicely I might let you have a discount~

[He lifts a glass of wine up.]

Do come enjoy a visit at the finest club in the Underground. If you have trouble getting here then I will provide you with a bodyguard at the entrance to escort you down.

See you soon~

[July is sitting there quietly in his room with a hand touching a little mirror of his. In his lap sits a teddy bear that Setsuna gave him before he left. It looks like he's content to let the days of noise pass by while he just sits there.

Really he's watching people out on the streets right now and not saying anything about that. He was told not to, after all.

Looking over at his device, he tilts his head.]

This is the second day. Will everyone leave tonight?

Oh, honestly, to think it's only been a week or two since all that fighting and chaos, and now just when we have a moment to catch our breath, it's time for the visitors to come to call again! I'd only just barely managed to get everything back in order at the Blue Light too, bother it all. Still, the doors are open and we're more than happy to have you, if you should decide to come by--visitors and residents alike! But I won't have any more trouble, so if you should decide to come by, please do be on your best behavior! I'll be there all day, myself, and we'll stay open until midnight so that everyone can have as long a time as possible to visit and enjoy the company before the visitors have to go home. This is the second day of the visiting, after all.

But yes, please do come down and say hello. I'm always happy to see everyone, and especially so a friendly face or two. And we'll even have a special--not on any of the drinks, I'm afraid, after what happened the last time, but anyone coming in to visit is welcome to have something to eat at half the cost. So please do come! We'd love to have you.

Oh, but, er...that is, if you do come by, please do mind the, um...dragon. I'm afraid Edmund's in a bit of a mood today--I think it's just that the crowds are bothering him, that's all.

I'm not quite sure if this counts as things going back to normal, but I guess it's close enough to normal. It's almost a relief when we have Visitors' Days after the really bad curses-- I always wondered if that was a reward for getting through it, maybe, a way to keep us all from really going nuts.

I've never thought of myself as being stuck here, because... well, because it's home now, and I don't mind that... but I always like seeing old friends. And new ones.

So, welcome. I'm glad to see you all.

[ooc; please no duplicate neils (tho facedoubles are always welcome), and no outright telling him he doesn't exist. Otherwise, anything goes! <3 BACKDATING WELCOME FOREVER]

( Alexiel is glaring at her communicator, her eyes glowing malevolently. She is sitting at a bar and a number of empty (and large) cups are scattered in front of her. )

I don't feel anything. ( Drunk or otherwise. No, that's not true, actually. She's still pissed off and the alcohol only splashes against the barrier of her rage. Useless. )

Nothing can make this better. ( She shoves the cups off of the bar and stands up. As the glass shatters on impact, she stands up. Immediately, the room spins and she covers her mouth with her hand, coughing.

So she had been wrong. There is an effect. It's just not the one she wants. )

After all we've endured and now it seems that the tourists are back again today.

And this time, I actually did as I so often said I would: I kept to myself, well inside, away from the windows and the Network, and I tried as best I could to properly recover from this last week and all its madness. These sorts of days are always very pleasant ones to stay indoors reading--even things read a dozen times over or more.

As it tends to go, I suspect everything will fall back to whatever passes for 'usual' in the City these days as of tomorrow. I can hardly call it truly 'usual', even for the City, but we'll go back to whatever it is we've been pretending to be 'usual'. The last few weeks here have been unlike anything I've seen so far in all my time here. And then that celebration, and now this. But that isn't my purpose at the moment.

I shall keep a close watch for Merry--and, if she should chance to see this, she'll surely know I am watching for her. Riff, if he's here, will find me immediately, so I know I needn't even watch for him. He'll always find me. Merry, though, I shall watch for.

I haven't much hope or wish for anyone else from my world to pay me a call. Although I do recall that my uncle came for a visit one year. And there has frequently been a young man come to call who seemed strikingly familiar but whom I'm sure I didn't know.

Although, there are yet others who seem to come into the City on days like this whom I should still like to see, even if I may not quite hope for it as I did with Riff and now with Merry so long ago and so often.

Anyway--I've shown my face on the Network now, so anyone who is looking for me can find me, I suppose. At least I'm quite aware of my own foolishness. And perhaps there's something clever in that.

The little clutch of girls is back under my window, as I knew they would be. I think they were there yesterday. By now I'd be rather disappointed if they weren't there, I think. It's still rather flattering, even after all this time. You would think they'd have grown tired of me by now, but perhaps that's the way time works in and out of the City. I shall be tossing them letters again this time, and I do hope they see this on the Network so that they'll be able to catch them. It would be a shame to have them fall to the ground unheeded.

Perhaps I'll even go down and greet them myself. A pity Riff isn't here or we should all have tea. Perhaps at the cafe instead. And would you care to join me? We'll make an afternoon of it.

And, yes, exciting as it always is at first, I know I'll be quite exhausted after a few moments of it. But I've had my day of seclusion--indeed, I've been rather holed up and keeping to myself in all sorts of ways of late, given the unrest in the City--once again, the opera house has served as fortress. And, anyway, I'm out today and these tourists certainly won't mind or care that I've only been about for today. Either that, or they'll be glad that I'm out and therefore available for their remarks. I seem to recall being insulted as much as I was greeted the last time. Somehow that isn't surprising.

Welcome to the City, I suppose.

Though why anyone would visit the City, I shall never understand.

~C.

[ooc: Hit him. Hit him hard. Hit him with everything you've got. Anything that really unsettles him will either be written off as the ravings of a lunatic or fade from memory after the curse. (And, just as a side note, so everyone knows what I mean by that, Cain is from Volume 5 [North American numbering] of Godchild.) However, I think I'd prefer it if he not get completely spoiled on his own ending, but he can easily just forget what anyone tells him. Beyond that, have at him! Also! If you want to have tea with him, please feel free! Just start an action thread in the cafe :3c]

This is Ensign Chekov, Pavel Andreievich, navigator of the USS Enterprise.

[You can trust him; he's currently in uniform. His uniform tunic has been too short in the sleeves for several months now. Oh, the woes of being a still-growing teenager!]

I would request a response from any Starfleet officers or allies who receive this message. Thank you.

If you have only just arrived, you may have questions. I have attached a text file to this message that may, I hope, be useful. If there are other questions or if anyone would like to speak with me, I would be happy to talk.

Captain Kirk? Uhura and I have the communicators working. They can pick up local transmissions, and we have connected all four to a secure channel. I think that is the best that can be done.

[attached file: City_brief]

[ooc: Fourth wall post! Everyone (duplicates, face twins, and so on) is welcome and anything goes. If you don't fancy network communication, action just about anywhere in the City is fine by me. ]

Another one of those weekends, huh?

I've kind of given up hoping that anyone from home will visit, but anyone who might know me or want to stop by...? I'll be at the magic shop most of the day and then at the beach house.

And if there is anyone from home...? Please come.

Rather a pleasant start to this month, isn't it? After all the upset last month I tend to think we deserve a break.

Most of all I'm pleased to return to running my business as I see fit, with the ludicrous curfew lifted and some semblance of order restored. Between that and the unexpected influx, I think it's high time for the celebration I'd intended last month.

So: tourists and Citizens alike, I'll stand you your first drink at the Wolf's Den; after that, you're on your own charming those with cash to spare.

[ooc; he's post Argentina, please don't spoil him on Helter Skelter, and no other Isaaks of course, otherwise I'm basically good with all shenanigans! Also open for random action @ the bar all weekend if you like ;3]

Merlin of Ealdor ♣ Emrys
06 July 2013 @ 11:45 pm
[ Merlin's been waffling. Oh, how he's been waffling, weighing back and forth, talking himself out of it and talking himself into it, for two days now. He's frightened, absolutely scared out of his wits, hasn't even said anything to Charlie even if she's sure to have known what was on his mind.

The idea of it should be making him happy, not scared, really, shouldn't it?

Still, worries aside, he manages a smile. ]

All of you who arrived this weekend will probably be gone soon. It usually lasts two days, but circumstances have changed so I don't really dare say anything for sure.

[ He pauses. ]

Uhm, if anyone knows me, from home, you better say hi.

[ And now, for the big question...

Which is said very, very quietly. ]

Arthur...?
