Korra

[action]
[It's an undisputed fact of the City that not every curse is a tragedy. Sometimes they are. Sometimes they're just irritating. Sometimes they can even be fun. It's all a matter of perspective, really.

If you happen to be strolling through the park this afternoon, you'll find a group of citizens gathered around an old school boombox and a badass set of speakers. They've decided being annoyed by spontaneous dancing is too much effort, so instead, they're using it as an excuse to skip out on work and share the music they love with their fellow citizens.

Hey, man, any excuse to have fun! You're all invited! Bring your records, your cds, your mp3 players, your guitars, your voices. If you have music to share, there's a group of people here ready to dance. And if you're just in the mood to dance yourself, well, you're in good company.]

[Korra had gone to the park to train, but the sounds of music drew her to the crowd. Before she knew it, she was dancing along with the crowd.]

[Cursed? Not cursed? Who cares? The music may be weird and she may not really know how to dance, but that's not stopping her from having a good time.]

[OOC: MINGLE POST! Feel free to link to put your own songs in the comments. Dance, sing, mingle, threadjack, have a ball! Just note in the subject whether you're closing the thread to a specific character or if you're open to anything.]

Ken Ichijouji
07 December 2012 @ 08:25 am
[As the video starts, Ken already looks a little ruffled - perhaps he's been engaged already. He was willing to make an exception for a cursed Li before, but that was someone he knew, someone cursed.] I don't care for dancing, at all. So I'd really appreciate if -

[In the middle of his request, a passing NPC takes his hands and tries to pull him into a dance. Ken untangles himself from the attempt. Cue a not so happy NPC, and a still disgruntled child.]

I think I'll just go home before anything else happens.

[ooc: Except! You should totally feel free to grab him for a dance or two before he does. Irritated Ken is kinda funny. Probably will throw him into a couple of posts, too.]

Rapunzel
07 December 2012 @ 10:15 am
[Brace yourself, City, it's a curse day today. And not just any curse, but a fun curse...a DANCING curse.

If you're walking by the City square or the fountain today, you might just run into Rapunzel, dancing along to the music of a street artist, twirling and spinning without a care in the world.

And if you're not careful, she may just pull you in for a dance as well.]

[ooc: The actual dancing starts at about 1:40 or so. I just wanted to put the whole thing in because UNGH, the music. That's what we're dancing to today with Punzie, people.]

I shall say what I say so often on such days: the streets seem quite excited today. I don't think I've seen this much dancing in Misery Square since the last time the 'deities' decided to give a party. It's surprising to see and yet also not surprising to see--these things happen from time to the time, and the only question is when.

Quite a lot of you are really terrible dancers, to be quite honest about it. And I'm not sure what some of you are doing could really even be called 'dancing'. It's movement, certainly, but whether it's actually 'dance' or not I would think is up for debate.

It doesn't seem as though one can entirely escape it, save by locking oneself inside, yet again.

And here am I, stranded on one side of the square, and very much in need of getting to the other side. I'm not sure that going around will be of any use either, not judging by some of the alleyways I can see from here.

Very well, then.

Please do try to remember that the waltz is 1-2-3, not 1-2-collapse.

Perhaps it will be better if I lead.

~C.

[ooc: Yup, he's out and about, so feel free to grab him for a waltz or two. Or he can grab your character, for that matter! For the record, he's quite good at old ballroom dances. Don't expect him to manage those newfangled dances all the other kids are doing. No siree. But if you want a waltz, he will waltz you like you've never been waltzed before!]

Merlin of Ealdor ♣ Emrys
07 December 2012 @ 04:23 pm
[ Finally, Merlin addresses the network after coming back to the City. Those who knew him before might notice that he's gotten a bit older and, if you're perceptive, that there's definitely some added weariness to his eyes. But it's not quite that noticeable, either. ]

The City's the same as always, I see. But I guess a week doesn't really change that much.

Dancing's at least a pretty nice curse.

I don't know how many of you knew I was gone, but I'm back now. Have been for a while, actually. Who's still here and how are you doing?

Oh, and apparently Christmas coming up soon? We don't celebrate that back home so... I'm a bit curious what it's like. But I'll find out, won't I?

[ A pause, followed by a cheeky grin. ]

Maybe I should be worried about it? This is the City.

In keeping somewhat with the theme of today's curse, thought it'd be nice to give a little taste of Carnivore's Night Show (from classic burlesque to modern sideshow and almost anything in between). Instead of nine ladies, only sharing just the two. Do enjoy and happy holidays.

(First one behind cut cause kinda NSFW) )

Want to see more? Well, you'll just have to come down and visit.

(OOC - Please ignore title intros on both. Second video is work safe.)

A. Z. Phale
07 December 2012 @ 09:02 pm
Oh, I must say I do rather like the, er, dancing. Not that anyone ought to be forced of course, but it's so festive, I can't help but enjoy it.

Er, if anyone is looking for a partner, I would be happy to oblige. Though I must confess I don't know the steps to a great many dances. But I am quite willing to learn.

[ ACTION ]

[True to his word, the angel is hanging around in the square, alternating between watching the dancers with no small delight, and taking his own only-slightly-awkward turns across the street with various partners.

He will try not to step on your feet. Too much. Er.]

Doctor Emmett L. "Doc" Brown
07 December 2012 @ 09:57 pm
[Good evening, City. One Doctor Emmett Brown is most certainly cursed today, if one can judge by the fact that the DeLorean rolls up to the square with the audio absolutely blasting. It's not entirely unlike this...

video )

...of course, poor Doc has no idea what's blasting. (It's not really Thrift Shop, you'll just have to forgive his mun for being obsessed with Macklemore and OMG IT'S A DELOREAN.) But when the door swings up and open, hissing on its hydraulics as it does, he steps out in his bright printed shirt, slacks, and one flowing, dramatic long coat looking very much like a boss. He swings the door back down behind him, and starts dancing his way through the curse-party already happening in the square, the car still blasting music through its open windows. If you get near him, he may just grab you up as a partner briefly.

Doesn't move too bad for an old guy, either. Thanks, future restoration clinic!]
