HELLLLOOOOOO OUT THERE—!!

Listen up, listen up! Just because the city's getting busy doesn't mean that you can forget your fucking manners. This place belongs to us. The one and only KO-GA-RA-SU-MA-RU!

( he slaps his hand against the wall behind him, palm smacking against his team emblem stickered to the wall. )

If you've got some beef, try and take it from us, otherwise shut your traps! And, make sure you remember that, you noisy bastards!

( he swings his arm forward in a grand sweeping gesture towards the audience, just as a small crow bursts from the black mess that he dares to call his hair. almost as to back him up, it cries out towards the device as well. )

Guaaaa, guaaa—!

In every aspect of life, anything good always comes with a price. In this case, that may be a few… less than completely polite individuals, whether they're the sort who are actively dangerous or just the sort who have no concept of personal boundaries.

But, in among that crowd are often people whose presence you'll find yourself incredibly thankful for, even if only for a couple of days.

So, in the interest of not missing them while they're here? Well. I thought I might as well come say hello.

hi here's an ooc note and also it almost kinda has house spoilers if you haven't seen the finale )

Just because the lights are on doesn't mean anybody's actually home, or in this case, the shop's actually open. Sorry to break your little precious hearts, but there'll be no Visitors' Day specials today at Passione. Yes, I understand other shops are doing it, but not this one, mainly because we're closed at this hour of the night.

[And currently there are a lack of employees and such other things a business requires.]

Feel free to stop by and tell this lone worker hello if you care to, maybe bring me a coffee and a donut, maybe a late night dinner too. Just saying. It'll be your good deed for the day.

Normally, I'd offer more context for a question like that one—aaaa, but it's turned so busy already, hasn't it? And to think we can only get busier from here! With more and more familiar faces gathering...

Perhaps what I should say instead is—good luck?

Great, now Victrola and every other pub near the Square's packed. Where'd all these people come from anyway?

Some of you need a bath. Others, though--

[Isabela's previous frustration gives way to a pleasant, thoughtful smile.]

So we're being inundated with these 'tourists' again, it seems. It was only a matter of time, I suppose. They do seem to come rather more often in the summer, though. Perhaps it's a holiday for them.

As ever, I never manage to do as I say--to keep to myself, well inside, away from the windows and the Network, and all the rest. It never seems to work entirely, if only because it's rather difficult to keep away from all windows and it does become rather tedious. To say nothing of the fact that there are a few people who seem quite capable of coming into the opera house as they please, despite all our efforts to the contrary. And I don't think warning them about He-Who-Kills will do any good either.

I shall, however, keep a close watch for Merry. I haven't much hope or wish for anyone else from my world to pay me a call. Although I do recall that my uncle came for a visit one year. And there was a young man who seemed strikingly familiar but whom I'm sure I didn't know.

Although, there are yet others who seem to come into the City on days like this whom I should still like to see, even if I may not quite hope for it as I did with Riff and now with Merry so long ago and so often.

The little clutch of girls is back under my window, as I knew they would be. I think I'd be rather disappointed if they weren't there. It's still rather flattering. You would think they'd have grown tired of me by now, but perhaps that's the way time works in and out of the City. I shall be tossing them letters again this time, and I do hope they see this on the Network so that they'll be able to catch them. It would be a shame to have them fall to the ground unheeded.

I may even go out this afternoon. It's quite time I tried something a little different in all this madness. And I've seen all of this more times that I think many have. As I said, I wasn't here in the City for a week before it happened to me for the first time.

And, yes, exciting as it always is at first, I know I'll be quite exhausted after a few moments of it. But these tourists certainly won't mind or care. They really can be rather like insects in the way they can find their way into anywhere or anything.

So I think I shall be a fool today and show my face after all. But at least I'm quite aware of my own foolishness. And perhaps there's something clever in that.

Welcome to the City, I suppose.

Though why anyone would visit the City, I shall never understand.

~C.

[And she's wondering why a lot of people are being so annoyed and put out about it.]

Do the new people here really disrupt things or cause riots? Because other than that, I can see how it'd get a little annoying having to fill the newbies in, but they're all stuck here like us, and it's not their fault so... [She's going off on a tangent here. Time to reel it back in.]

I mean, they're probably freaked out. I don't mind being the welcoming committee for them. I was just wondering if there was anything different about them from the usual newcomers, that's all.

And some people seem to think their loved ones are here now. Is that a thing that usually happens with this?

Hey, everyone who's new! Don't freak out, okay? You're in the City and it's a weird place, but you probably won't be here for very long and almost everyone's really nice. Oh, and time stops in your world when you leave it, so it's completely okay if you were in the middle of something. You should plan on being here through tomorrow sometime, so if you can find some friends who'll lend you a couch, that'd be a good idea. If you don't have anyone, look for the buildings with the signs that say "The Welcome Center" or "The Youth Center." We have some beds in both places, and no, you don't have to be a kid to stop by the Youth Center. Curses're special that way.

Both buildings'll be offering free food and drinks for as long as possible. Sorry for anyone who was waiting early this morning; these curses don't exactly come with warnings, so it took a while to get everything together.

Anyway! My name's Penny and I'd be happy to help you out if you have any questions or need anything. You can either talk to me by using the video-thingy you're watching this on--there should be a button that says record reply or something like that--or, if you see me around, give me a shout. I hope you have a good time!

... I'm not sure why a few of the newcomers here suddenly think I need to ship myself. I have the unfortunate feeling they don't mean by mail, either.

[Much as he's facing the camera, his eyes are on the crowd, searching, scrutinizing. The hopeful, slightly eager look on his face betrays him even if his words don't.]

I'll admit it's one of my poorer offers, but if anyone would care to stop by, lunch is on me. Believe me, your company's the best payment I could ever receive.

What've we started calling these days? Visitor weekends? I'd say this makes for the most pleasant one thus far, but I'm already speaking too soon for it. I never really understood how this all works - what's the difference allowing for people to come for a few days versus the few months the majority of us have been sitting on, waiting to go back to whatever version of home is left for us?

Is there some sort of good deed some of our lot get rewarded for? More paperwork, like in the desert? A queue of personal favours, maybe. What makes someone more deserving than others to come and go? I know I'm hardly going to get a straight answer from the men on the seat and pure speculation is relatively useless, but all the same.

Are any of you really satisfied with your lives in the City? Don't feel as though you need a beating heart sort of life to answer.

If not, what is it you long for?

If so- well, to put it bluntly, why?

Princess Rosella of Daventry

Oh, drat it all, I really do suppose I ought to have expected--of course, it is getting to be that time of the year again, isn't it? It was just the first day of summer last week, and it was winter the last time everyone came to call, and that's rather how these things go, once a season or so, without fail.

It's strange how some of the curses are like that, really. When one stays here long enough, one rather gets to know the patterns they follow--like the weekend of random curses once a month, and then this one cropping up a few times a year, and the mistletoe in December and October always being just awful and so on.

Oh, but that's quite enough of that; there's so much to do! The Blue Light will be open late tonight, for anyone to come and sit and have something to eat and visit awhile, so please do come by and say hello! That's where I'll be, and I'd certainly like to say hello to all of you.

And, er...

Well, please do try to, er, behave, won't you?

I don't know why, but I've always thought of these days in terms of wondering if I'll get to see anyone I know, when maybe that's not any more likely than running into someone really cool, from history or something. Like Cleopatra or Blackbeard or something. That would be far out. I wonder if Mozart would be down to jam or if he'd be kind of stuck up or what.

Needless to say, it's an ongoing effort. Still, even when busy, Todd is never unapproachable.]

( Alexiel has decided to take some time for herself - if one could call being alone in a city full of people being truly alone. She is currently walking down one of the many side-walks, her heels making distinct taps against the concrete. She has yet to change out of the dress she arrived in and her sword and sheathe are tied neatly around her waist. )

The pulse of life in this City is almost overwhelming. ( Especially for one who has spent so much time either in another or alone. )

It's difficult for even one such as I to find friends and foes. ( She pauses in the middle of a street. Yes. Just try to hit her. ) Can I trust what I feel?

( Extending one arm, she raises her gaze to the heavens. ) Are you toying with me? Is this a farce?

( She pays no attention to anything or anyone around her. A wild wind whips her long curls around her body, obscuring her expression. )

Cruel.

( ooc: Open to anyone and everyone! I welcome all 4th-Wallers. Alexiel is taken from the end of AS, jsyk. )

 This? Again?

I feel like I should properly address the congregation.

[Clears his throat.]

I haven't kept active count for how many times this has happened. All in all I've come out unscathed so I say through the safety of this advice: come at me bro.

Outta curiosity... when and where are all of you from? Well, folks that are here besides the last two days can say so too but I always feel like there's some sorta calender difference or some shit. Is it bad there or what?

[Why would they leave? And even though he's asking questions, he adds almost reluctantly...]

[ You may either find Yusuf laden with an armful of cookie tins- in which case, please stop him and ask for some, contrary to a single person's belief, the house literally cannot handle any more cookies in it- or walking back from the grocery with the tins in a bag and about four other bags of what can only be baking supplies. Likely, if your house needs butter, it will not be getting it on this good night, as Yusuf has just bought pretty much all of it.

You can thank Ariadne's mom.

Finagling the bags around on his wrists, Yusuf flips open his device just long enough to ask a question of the network.

It's times like these I'm glad I live out on the beach.

But I grabbed a few fireworks. What better way to end a day of...sweet reunions.

[Yuri rolls his eyes amicably, but really he's just kinda jaded and hasn't seen the people he's really wanted to see yet.]

Not quite reliable enough to set your watch by, but it's getting close. I'd been wondering when this would come along.

Don't get me wrong, I love having company. But I'd appreciate any advice on how to get out of here more.
