Hey, everyone who's new! Don't freak out, okay? You're in the City and it's a weird place, but you probably won't be here for very long and almost everyone's really nice. Oh, and time stops in your world when you leave it, so it's completely okay if you were in the middle of something. You should plan on being here through tomorrow sometime, so if you can find some friends who'll lend you a couch, that'd be a good idea. If you don't have anyone, look for the buildings with the signs that say "The Welcome Center" or "The Youth Center." We have some beds in both places, and no, you don't have to be a kid to stop by the Youth Center. Curses're special that way.

Both buildings'll be offering free food and drinks for as long as possible. Sorry for anyone who was waiting early this morning; these curses don't exactly come with warnings, so it took a while to get everything together.

Anyway! My name's Penny and I'd be happy to help you out if you have any questions or need anything. You can either talk to me by using the video-thingy you're watching this on--there should be a button that says record reply or something like that--or, if you see me around, give me a shout. I hope you have a good time!

PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE CITY: Thank you so so much to everyone who's been stepping up and helping out! Quadruple thanks to you restaurant and cafe owners. You guys are the best. But even with all this help we're still completely swamped so if you feel like helping and you're not already signed up with one of the Centers, we could really use you.

And if anyone's interested in helping to run either the Welcome Center or the Youth Center, please please please let me know! Thank you! ♥

[Penny is all over the City's main square, trying to oversee both centers while running errands and trying to be helpful. She may or may not be carting meals, bedding, or other sundry goods. Tumbles, a half-collie mix, might be following her around. Whatever she's doing, though, she's genuinely eager to lend a hand to anyone with a question.]

Ah--pardon me, miss, but--well, I--is there some way I can be of assistance to you, er, with your parcels?

[Oh. Oh. There seems to be a handsome stranger who's willing to help carry dinner fixings. Penny resists the natural desire to hide behind an armful of groceries and shoots him a grateful smile.]

That'd be amazing, if you really don't mind.

[He's about as handsome as he is awkward, really, standing there with that aura of someone who feels utterly out of place in his current moment of space and time, but he's swallowing his shyness to be of service here.

Never mind that he's talked to exactly two girls in his entire life prior to now. Hard labor is something he understands, at least.]

It's no trouble. They seem quite heavy and I thought--well, it might be easier.

[As he moves to take whatever she wants to surrender to him.]

[Oh, gosh, be more adorable. No, wait, he can't be.

She offers him the two paper bags she was holding, keeping the four other bags hanging around her arms. Those were the heaviest, anyway--fresh produce in one, drinks in the other.]

You're a life saver. Or... I mean, a back-saver, at least. Thank you so much. I'm heading to the Welcome Center, if you want a drink or something to eat when we get there?

[He takes them easily, because even being kind of scrawny and lanky, he's moved a lot of bags of chicken feed in his day and those were far worse than anything she's got for him here.

Also, it gives him some nice cover to hide behind a little, which is never a bad thing.]

[ charlie's not the kind of girl to be a total spoil-sport, so when people keep mistaking her for penny and giving her things to go to one center or the other, she just kind of complies. it takes way too much effort to explain that her name's not penny and she can browse the network as she searches her face twin out.

finally, she catches a glimpse of the right color hair as penny dashes into the youth center. charlie follows, calling out to try to get her attention. ]

Hey! Uh, excuse me! Penny, right? Hello?

[It's a good thing Penny doesn't have anything in her arms when she hears her own voice calling after her and--and that's her face. That's definitely her face, and it's talking to her.

No, it's cool. This happens to other people and they don't freak out. This is completely okay. She forces a smile.]

Penny, yes--that's me. My name. Hi. And wow. You're... not me.

[ charlie smiles, and okay this is awkwarder than she'd expected but she can do this. she can wrap her head around the extreme doctor who scenario she is finding herself in, right? ]

No, I'm not. But everyone else thinks I am which I guess I can't be mad about, right? I'm...Charlie. I'd be cool and shakes your hand, but...

[ case in point, charlie displays the items she had been asked to take with her when coming over here. ]

Kind of forward of me but I should ask. You don't know if you're me from like, a divergent timeline or anything, are you?

Oh, geez--let me take those. There's no way you should have to do my work just because you look like me.

[But different. A little older? No, that's not it. She holds her arms out to take Charlie's parcels.]

Divergent timelines? Like on TV? Look, only one of them is a media-savvy geek.] I'm pretty sure I wouldn't know, but I'm guessing not. I kind of died at home. Timelines don't diverge really well when people die, do they?

[A small boy is going to wander right into the Welcome Center, up to Penny when she seems to have half a moment, and smile brightly.]

[Even if she doesn't have a moment, moments can be made for adorable kids.]

Hey there! Are you okay?

Yes.

[Very straightforward. He's fine; he knows who he is, and he's been given the rundown. Helps if you already believe in magic.]

You look really busy. Is there anything I can do to help?

[This kid has that look about him--you know, that look where it seems like he probably knows more than most kids. Which is fine! Still, she's not going to put him to work.]

Well... if you'd really like to do something to help, Tumbles is feeling kind of neglected. [She nods over towards the large dog laying in the corner. He's been told one too many times not to jump on strangers and looks rather put out.] What's your name?

[Billy is lurking awkwardly near the Welcome Center and spots her on her way out.]

Billy, hey!

[She stops, the dog at her heels stopping as well. Does he remember the last time he was here? Would it be totally weird to give him a hug? A hug sounds like a really good idea. She restrains herself just in case.]

It's so great to see you.

It is? I mean, yes, that is it's great to see you, not me, because I'm me. And I'm here in this--I was here before, right? Yeah. Just a little while ago.

Yeah, it is. [Just in case Billy doesn't believe her, she adds some extra sincerity.]</small. Really. Actually, it's been a few months. Five, I think? Four? Something like that. Plenty of time for things to happen.

[ A tall androgynous person is offering Penny a bagel, smiling. ]

You look like you don't have time to get away for a meal.

It's just for a couple days, then the City'll go back to being a little less crazy.

[There have been stranger people around here. Most of them weren't handing out food and, now that the topic's been brought up, a bagel would be pretty amazing...]

I haven't, really, but I can't just take food away from you.

No, please, take it. Eyes bigger than my stomach today. [ Haruka smiles. ] You remind me of a friend. She always wants to help everyone.

Then thank you--thank you so much. [She accepts the bagel with one hand and offers the other to shake.] I'm Penny.

[After meeting someone with her face today, she doesn't want to comment on any "you remind me of a friend" statements. That friend could be another her, and her brain can't take too much more of that.]

[Kind people eventually directed Abed to the Welcome Center, where they said he could find a bed and "real clothing" for the night. He did agree that it was a little ridiculous to wear his military uniform when he no longer had a military.

Now that he's at the Welcome Center, though, he's not quite sure what to do next. Is it his job to say "Welcome"?]

[It takes a few moments before Penny has time to address the guy in the... pillows? Busy day.]
