[Filtered from Known DELILAH Members || Unhackable]The mood of the day seems to be moving distinctly in the direction of 'white tie'. I certainly won't object. I've never enough opportunities to wear such here. I even think there were a few more opportunities some time ago than there are now, which is a shame. There's still a handful of such chances, so I suppose one had better use them when one has them.
Although, I almost think the day calls for a little more than just 'white tie'. I've seen quite a few ladies going about the streets in trained gowns and tiaras, and even the sorts of things one might wear to be presented at court, with feathers and everything else--which, I'll admit, I haven't seen in quite a long time and certainly never expected to see here in the City. I suppose that's why it was rather pleasant to see them. They really did look perfectly charming.
So, in that vein, I wonder if I ought to dress in keeping. If they're dressing as though they're to be presented at court, I've something of my own that I've never had call to wear but which would be in keeping with the way of things today. It's quite old and certainly a family treasure. I found it just this morning, in fact, as though it had been prepared for me to wear. Strawberry leaves sound a bit peculiar but it's maybe even a little better than the top hat I was intending to wear.
I won't tell you what it is, though. You will have to find me and see for yourself.
This is immensely preferable to that curse a few days ago. There's absolutely nothing superior to removing one's clothes--not when one can wear something infinitely better. I see nothing better in taking off one's shirt, not when one can wear white gloves instead.
I won't even be bothered by the sand, even as curious as it is. I had supposed it would be a curse, but now I almost wonder if it's something more or else. There was a time when the City was infested with insects and a snowstorm sprang up as though to exterminate them, and yet curses went on all along. Likewise, there was that incident with the hair coiling up out of the drains, and curses went on all along there as well. I had hoped perhaps the sand was a prelude to another bout of summer in winter, but it doesn't seem to be as such. With curses running all along in the meantime, it puts me much more in mind of those other instances. And, if you were here when that snowstorm struck or that hair came up out of the drains, I suppose you'll know why one should perhaps be concerned.
It seems harmless now, of course, but so did most everything else, at first. There seems to be something of a pattern emerging.
I suppose I ought to see to my errands sooner rather than later.

[//end filter][ooc: So here's some trivia for you! Back in The Day (that is, Cain's Day; that is, 19th-century Britain), on extremely formal occasions, peers (like him) would wear distinctive coronets, decorated with things like strawberry leaves (in precious metals and stones, of course). So guess what someone has on his head today...! (The top hat will make a few appearances too, of course.)]
