Pinoko
08 February 2013 @ 11:37 am
[The screen shows a great deal of food! There's omu-rice, a rice-stuffed omelette rolled up and adorned with ketchup; lots of onigiri, little triangular riceballs; little bowls of rice topped with chicken and egg; plates bearing strips of grilled fish; and several plates of curry rice, chunky brown-orange curry taking up more than half the plate.

Everything is topped with little white flags emblazoned with bright red rising suns.]

Nippon ni BANZAIIII!

[Pinoko hops onto a stool in front of her feast, wearing a white cloth around her head, tied back like a headband, also sporting the rising sun emblem. She waves a flag that also looks hand-crafted, the pole three times her size.]

BANZAIII! BANZAIII! BANZAIIII!

[She is very much into this, isn't she?!]

Long live the glory of Japan! Ten thousand years!

[After shouting until her face turned red, she slumped on her stool, pinning the flag pole into the floor and leaning onto it for support.] Had to get that out of Pinoko's shyshtem...

David Allard
08 February 2013 @ 12:37 pm
[David appears on screen holding up a white sheet onto which he’s painted a crown and three lions, all in blue.]

Look, I’ve made the flag for the England cricket team! And on the back, [He turns it around,] I’ve put St. George’s cross!

[He looks down at his handiwork, a grin on his face.] I’m quite proud of it. The lions were especially hard.

[At this point, Luke rushes in to frame.] What's that? Are you making flags?

Yes, do you want to make one?

Don't need to. I've already got one. It's a bit unconventional, but it will definitely do. [He pauses, and then lunges down and hoists David up onto his shoulders.]

Waving you seems a bit tricky so we'll go with this instead.

[And he runs off frame again, carrying David.]

Riku
08 February 2013 @ 01:43 pm
[All that's visible for the moment is a belly button and an unbuttoned shirt and the top of a pair of jeans; the video feed starts rather abruptly as he's clearly set it off accidentally because no one in their right mind would want to make a first impression with their navel. He's talking to himself though, thinking out loud more than anything.]

-where do I even start to look? I don't even know what kind of world this place is.

[The stomach moves in time to the sound of a resigned sigh, before the world shifts. Or rather the camera does, as the device moves and the owner of the voice and the midriff comes into focus; it's a boy, around sixteen or seventeen, with bright aquamarine eyes and silver hair framing his face. He's frowning as he concentrates on the device.]

How does this thing wor-

[And then he appears to realise that it is apparently working extremely well, and without his knowledge, as his eyes widen and he looks momentarily surprised before he schools his expression back into something a little more calm, but with perhaps an air of sheepishness.]

I guess it works better than I though. Uh... hi.

[He pauses, as though put on the spot suddenly having to address a strange device with no forethought.]

I don't really know what this thing is, but it looks like it's recording. Maybe it's a video diary or something? I don't get it.

[He looks up and around, looking for someone in the area who could maybe explain better but seems to be dissatisfied as he looks back at the camera a few seconds later.]

If anyone's watching this, I'm by a carousel. My name's Riku, and I could really use a clue about where I am right now. I guess that's all, thanks.

July
08 February 2013 @ 03:58 pm
[July appears on the screen but this time he isn't wearing his usual cap. Nope. This time he's wearing a British flag>cap. He looks at the screen just a bit longer then simply says...]

God save the Queen.

[Enthusiasm. He doesn't have it.]

Nathan Mahler
08 February 2013 @ 04:14 pm
[Nathan is standing before a mirror and it's obvious that someone is holding his device for him while he tries on a coat. It's a lovely design, the lines all perfect. Upon closer inspection one will notice that it's made out of the colors of the German flag.]

You know, I never was too fond of the colors for my flag. They're bold, yes, but in combination like this they just fail to really be impressive. Such a pity one of these colors can't be a simple accent for the rest.

[He pouts.]

Ah well, I suppose I can get by wearing this for today since the urge to wear my flag fails to leave me.

Wilee
08 February 2013 @ 05:07 pm
BEEP BEEP. NEW YORK COMIN' THROUGH!

[That's the only warning anybody in the Square gets as Wilee barrels through it on his bike, the state flag of New York tied around his neck, flapping in the breeze like a cape. He's hitting top speeds, popping wheelies and turns like no other, showing off just what the best city in the world is made of.

Right before a man in a leather jacket crosses his path at the wrong moment and comes head to head (or side to front wheel) with Wilee. He doesn't stop, barely even slows down, only turns his head before turning the bike into a full circle.]

Damn pedestrians... Sorry! It's a New York thing!

[ooc: poor ray, no1curr about old men getting hit.]

Ruby Flint
08 February 2013 @ 08:26 pm
[Ruby's sat cross-legged on the floor of her apartment, wearing a dress that's obviously handmade, and bears a great resemblance to the outfits she wore during her time in the USO. A big flag recognizable as the star spangled banner is spread out on the floor in front of her, and she's busy sewing on stars in the top left hand corner as she switches the device on to record. Unlike the modern American flag, however, this one has only 48 stars, the number of states in the Union in Ruby's time.]

Anyone else feeling especially patriotic today?

[A proud smile as she affixes the next star in place.]

Oh, I meant to ask about this already - I'm looking for some place to sing. I've had a couple of auditions, but apparently times have moved on and the places I went to thought that jazz music was just old fashioned. I'm not sure I can bear secretarial work much longer, even though it's only been a few days. I'm happy to come over and audition any time, my repertoire is mostly the old standards, but I'm happy to learn pretty much anything.

[She's been sewing as she speaks, and now holds up the completed flag.]

There, now. Isn't that simply grand?
