(carolena) lady of sorrows
[ The house is a little bit outside the city, swathed heavily in evergreens, but it's gorgeous. Carla supposes that's what she can't quite get over, because she's struck by it every time they've visited.

They won't be visiting anymore. And even if she has her camera trained up at it with one hand, there's a box under her other arm. She lowers the view to where a little girl with curly blonde hair is near the front door, staring up. A pair of dogs scampering nearby to her.

Another swing in frame, behind them with a borrowed car is a man sorting through the boxes in the trunk.

The last turn is to Carla's own face. She looks apprehensive about this whole process, her eyes flicking back and forth between the little girl and the man. Eventually she sighs, murmuring, ]

Welcome home.

[The camera lowers, about to be shut off as she calls,]

Come on, Victoria, we have a lot of work to do.

[[ooc; [personal profile] victoria_stay, [personal profile] unflagging and Carla are making a hideous family this weekend. Fact. Action is fine if anybody wants to housewarm... or gawk.]]

Jimmy Darmody

[As usually happens on weekends like this, Jimmy's not aware that he's been cursed. No, when he turns the video on, he really thinks he has a logical reason for doing it. When he begins to speak, though, what he'd intended to say isn't at all what comes out of his mouth.]

D'you ever think about your families? About where you come from? I don't mean just, y'know, remember your mom 'n dad now and then, 'n miss 'em. I mean really think about it, about the way things might've been different if you'd been raised by someone else, or if you'd've had a different kinda life.

[He rests his chin on his hand, three fingers of which seem to be taped together in an amateurish fashion, as though they're broken.]

I guess I have been a lot today, y'know, 'cause I think I would've been a hell of a lot different if I'd've had different parents. The guy I basically considered my dad for a long time wasn't even related to me, 'n the guy that actually was my dad...

[He shakes his head dismissively.]

Anyway. Bein' stuck here kinda makes you think about home, right? About what you left behind? Maybe for some people it's better that way.

[OOC: Yes, Jimmy's been cursed this weekend, though he's not aware of it. He's got the Roots Day curse, which compels him to talk about his family and his heritage. And, apparently, to elicit discussions from other people. Good luck.]

Korra
04 August 2013 @ 06:45 pm
[ action / video ]
[Little baby Korra clambers up onto the edge of the Fountain. She's an itty bitty thing, so it's with some difficulty, but with the help of some earthbending, she makes it up.

She stands there imperiously. She's not sure whether the picture thingy on the weird little whatchawhatever is set up right, but she's four years old. She doesn't actually care. She's got a job to do!

She straightens up and looks as grown-up as she can.]

I'M THE AVATAR.

[Y'all can bow down now.]

[ooc: Korra's been a bb all weekend! Housemates & friends can run into her at any point over the weekend. Everyone else will find her today at the Fountain.]

[It’s one of those weird weekend’s Rose has noted and at least for today she is not cursed. Yesterday however was a different story. She’s walking through some foliage with a book in her hand not paying attention to her surroundings or the fact that her device has turned on accidentally.]

Maybe I should...

It’s like reading radio instructions with this one. Hardly a map at all.

[The book lowers from her face and she looks around at the grave stones. A curious expression covers her face.]

This is a new one.
