[The Man With No Name]

You know what they say about crime.

[ooc: ~ doesn't pay? Don't do the ~ if you can't do the time? What do they say, Cowboy? Well, he's being a jerk about it since he wasn't in prison, which is funny because he's going to rescue someone from jail by dynamiting out his cell bars just as soon as he gets back to his world (not that he knows it). Pffft, anti-heroes. In the meantime, he's just riding around the City a little. Feel free to see him in person or on the Network!]

[ooc: Cut for large SFW image. Because it is written that someone in the City must be in possession of a certian foul-tempered hairless cat, lest the City be...idk, taken over my octopi or something (no, that's not how it goes). The Cat's back, y'all. Katan Sr. has returned.]

Zelgadis Greywars
30 April 2013 @ 03:44 pm
[Avoiding curses for the month hasn't made Zelgadis any less skittish about the City. More like he's waiting for the other shoe to drop, as it always seems to in his life.]

[After work, he spent part of the morning sipping coffee, face shadowed by his ever-present hood as he watched the passersby with part resignation, part wariness. Finally, he made his way to the Hall of the Missing. He's not entirely sure why; maybe wondering if someone from home may have been here at one point. Maybe curious if anyone had been here who looks like him.]

[If nothing else, it's quiet. So maybe he's just trying to get away from people. But of course, with his luck, of course he's going to cross paths with someone...]

((OOC: I AM SO SORRY to everyone who tagged my last post, it's been a crazy two months for me health-wise. If anyone wants to go back and backtag it for some reason just poke me, there's a contact post on the top of this journal!))

I'd be real content to never, ever have to do that again. Never say never, not even in these parts... but if I can do anything to prevent another [he pauses to try and find the right word, wait. Nope. No word exists] time like that, you'd better believe I would.

[Except, except, except isn't desperation how a man like White got into the prison? Anyway, he's clean shaven, washed and looking comfortable. The short, short video is cut off.]

Private to Pink;

Hey. I got a question.

Penny
30 April 2013 @ 08:47 pm
[Penny has taken the night off for sanity's sake and, therefore, isn't posting from the Welcome Center. Her surroundings will undoubtedly be recognized as the Blue Light's bar to citizens who have been in the City for some time. It's not a happening night; most of the bar stools are empty and the bartender's busy polishing a glass that's already spotless.]

Sorry for talking business so much, but, with Nyota's help, I've got a list of specific positions that need to be filled at the Welcome Center and the Youth Center.

[She holds up a piece of paper, upon which appears the following:

Fake flier under the cut! )

[She lowers the piece of paper (no, there wasn't enough time to read all of that).]

I have my network device on me pretty much all the time, so feel free to call if you'd like a job or if you have any questions. It's a laid-back work environment and everyone's nice; the salary's about the City's equivalent of minimum wage, but it's for a good cause!

Thanks for your time and I hope you'll at least consider picking up a flier.

[With that lackluster sign-off, Penny turns off her network device and places it on the counter next to her mimosa. She's vaguely melancholy and working her way up to fine brood. It's unusual for her, but she's usually on the clock at the Welcome Center. As far as she's concerned, she's entitled to a little brooding when she's not working.]

[ooc: Your character is quite welcome to bump into Penny at the Blue Light. If your character might have an interest in any of these jobs, we can play that out however you like. This community over here might be useful and is completely open to everyone playing in Poly.]

Guess this weekend's a reminder things could always be worse. Everyone back now?

Shit timing but I'm looking to hire at the bar. My manager's gone, don't wanna wait and hope he comes back.

Anyone interested?

Todd Anderson

It was April, four years ago, when I first arrived here. It's... it's sort of impossible to believe that -- I mean, it seems all at once as if I've always been here, and as if I only just arrived. I still remember the day, exactly what it was like - the fountain, of course, everyone who told me what was going on, the people who came to find me, and those first few days of not believing a single moment of it was real.

[The fact that Neil greeted him was certainly no help there.]

A lot of them have gone now. Not all of them - definitely not all of them, and I'm grateful for that - but a lot of them have. Some of them wanted to go, to get back to their homes, their lives that were waiting for them... I just hope that they did, that they're happy where they are.

T.S. Eliot wrote that April is the cruellest month. He might be right - it's not exactly what he had in mind, but... it hasn't been an easy one here. I hope everyone is okay now, as much as they can be. I... I do feel like I end up hoping that too often.

Still, if I could - if I were given a way to leave - I wouldn't go. The City... it's my home now. I belong here.

[Talkative tonight, Todd? It's only really in retrospect that he realizes just how much he's said - he'd almost forgotten the device was one entirely - and he turns off the feed as his own old anxieties creeps back up on him.]

Not something worth repeating.

[ Pause. ]

Justification for the auto-feeder though.
