[A video feed shows a brunette, appearing a little worried at the predicament she's been put in, but also calm. She has her hand in a loose fist, slightly pressed against her lip as she looks to the device for inquiry.]

Um... I'm not really sure what's going on, but is this a game? I woke up with this device. It's similar to a phone, so I thought I could communicate with it. I couldn't find any rules on me, so I thought maybe I had to ask for them. I hope that asking isn't going against any rules at all, though if it is, I guess you can disregard this message.

[There's a pause as she opens her mouth to speak once more, but closes it. Then after some moments, she does decide to conclude this message.]

Thank you to anyone who responds!

My goodness, is it really March again already? With all that fuss over the desert and the glass and the waiting in lines for days on end, I must've completely lost track of the time!

Still, it seems as though that fuss is over with now, and the City is settling back into its routine again, just as it always does when things like this happen. It's odd, though; everyone knows how the City runs like a clock, with the Carousel and the numbered buildings and all that awful machinery in the heart of the Underground. But I almost rather wonder if sometimes it isn't a bit like an hourglass, too--running along normally for most of the time, but then with a great upheaval every so often as it turns itself over again. Goodness knows it'd certainly explain all the sand.

...Oh, and speaking of the sand, it's been just about a year since the tower by Building Three turned to sand and fell, isn't it? It seems as though sand keeps turning up again and again, lately--which rather makes me wonder if that mention of an hourglass is a bit more apt than I'd thought, even.

In any case, things do seem to be getting back to normal--or as normal as they're likely to get, in the City, and as we all saw for ourselves yesterday, even the curses are back to usual again. With any luck, things will stay quiet for a little while, at least. We've had some terrible curses in March before--the Ides of March in particular comes to mind--but after so much commotion last month, there's always the chance we may get lucky for a little longer. I certainly wouldn't mind having a nice, curse-free day for the first of spring.

My, and that's coming up quite fast now, too, isn't it? Goodness, it's only thirteen days now. As quickly as time has been slipping by lately, two weeks seems like almost nothing at all.

[OOC: Spoilers: the first of spring is also Rosella's birthday, and it's particularly special this year because she'll be twenty-one on the 21st. WHERE DID THE TIME GO?!]

Estellise Sidos Heurassein
[She's in a room that's not her own, alone in her bed, tossing and turning, making unintelligible mumbles, slightly crying out as if she's afraid. The sheets on the bed are a mess as she breathes heavily, as she's experiencing a nightmare.]

No... I'm sorry... I understand...

[She's always spoken in her sleep, and it's no different here. After a few moments, her shaking subsides as she finally seems calm and wakes up. She's not surprised in the least as she starts seemingly counting on her fingers. 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 6... 7... 8...]

This was my eighth one. Just two more to go.

[She takes a deep breath as she slides out of her bed, grabbing a wrap to put around her as she looks to the device and notices it on. No doubt someone had to have seen that as she just gives it a soft smile before turning it off before heading down to the kitchen.]

DAY 1/1:24 AM

[The feed snaps on to a surreal image. Five fish in a glowing blue fish-bowl. A pale hand traces the glass, almost caressing. In the background, an eerie crooning is heard. "Five minutes ago, the sky split wide/I raced to this place, hoping she'd be inside/I found it was crowded with others like me/Weeping and shouting and gnashing their teeth...". As Karl hums, the fish dance in the water, mouths opening and closing. They seem agitated. Karl chuckles, as if amused by their antic fluttering.]

~Now now. We mustn't fuss. Death's an inevitable part of life. But is it inevitable in this City? We'll see...

[His palm splays flat against the bowl. The fish swirl wildly. And the feed snaps off.]

DAY 2/4:34 PM

[The video opens to a disturbing sight. The fish spread across a table. All motionless and shriveled. Dead. They seem to radiate a sickly, neon-silver glow. In the background, Karl's shadow is seen. Pacing to and fro. Tensely waiting.]

Hush, hush. Not long now. Not long. We'll know soon. We'll know if it's true. I can endure this ticking till then. I can. Ssh. SSSH. [As he keeps up his feverish muttering, something odd happens. As if by magic, the fish begin twitching. A few feeble jerks at first. Then sharper spasms. One by one, they flop across the table, dying anew as they're reanimated into a world without air. Their mouths gape, as if in silent screams.]

What...?!

[Karl hurries to the table. His eyes are alight with horror.]

No! Nononono! This is wrong! HOW CAN THIS BE?!

[In defiance, the fish keep flailing. Karl watches, aghast.]

God… why? Is there no death here? Am I never to know PEACE?

[There's no answer. Jerkily, Karl steps back. The fish are thrashing harder now. He can’t tear his eyes off them. His breath hitches. Suddenly, he begins to scream.]

NO! IT’S WRONG! IT'S ALL WRONG! I CAN’T ABIDE BY THIS!

[His cry reverberates through the cell. The fish keep flailing.]

DAY 3/5:00 AM

[The fish are back in their bowl. Alive and shimmery. Huddled in a corner, Karl watches them. His hair falls tangled around his face, eyes and cheekbones in deep shadow. He seems caught in a listless stupor. Half-dead, almost. For a long time he stares, without blinking. Then, his eyes slip shut. Very quietly, almost without moving his lips, he hisses:]

I just can't do this. I can't. I can't.

[OOC: A certain deathseeker just learnt the City!Dead rule is TRUE. And is now wretchedly emo over it. Feel free to bug him/yell at him for unsuccessfully killing his fish. He needs cheering up ^^b]

I thought that this particular spell would wear off once my siblings left, but it seems that I'm still changing age at the full moon.

Which is actually more useful than not, but it would have been nice during the ridiculous sand affair. Although the chances are good that it wouldn't have worked then.

Well.

Hullo, Merlin, surprise. It's still Edmund. Please don't be alarmed.

thor (movie)
[thor is enjoying the fact that he can't find loki (he's not enjoying at all, in fact he's been missing for a few days doing do). so to ease his solace...

that and watching a lot of tv. it seems that burgers and monty python are great for wasting time.

oh and shakeweights.]

Would someone care to explain how this is to make you a better warrior? [he says holding it right up to his face and holding it with both hands. he even has to move his hair out of the way too.]

I ... do not understand how this is supposed to work. Why do you not go and build your physique through movement?

[thor put the shakeweight down. oh. he can hold it with one hand too.

enjoy that imagery.]
