Eleanor Lamb

[Eleanor sighs, groaning slightly and the sound of a book closing follows.] This won't do at all. I have things I'm trying to accomplish and all I hear is tick-tick-tick-tick.

[There's the sound of something tapping rapidly at first before it slows, tapping along with the ticking.] Oh, for the love of--

[The tapping stops and Eleanor picks up the device.] Why is the ticking so loud today?

[Her? Sound exasperated? Never! Except for today.]

And the ticking returns... despite my recent socializing amongst the masses. A malfunction, perhaps? One curiosity that leads to yet another curiosity as I am not in a position to know, having only been a resident here for a short while: has this City malfunctioned before?

[Jill is at The Blue Light working. It's her night to tend the bar instead of supplying the musical entertainment for the evening. The bar is full, probably because a lot of people have had the same idea as she's had. The ticking isn't so bad if you're drunk. She slams back another shot and then procedes to take and prepare more drink orders.]

ooc: action open to anyone stopping by The Blue Light.

Right.

[ The Doctor appears on the screen, a spy glass in front of his left eye, a smile flittering across his face. ] It has come to my attention that there's a lot of ticking today. Tick-tick-tick. [ Spinning the camera around, he's wearing earplugs. ] Even these badboys aren't doing anything about the din. Terribly inconsiderate, but then you should hear the noise pollution in London.

Never trust something that's ticking, they're probably after your hand. [ Curling his hand into a hook shape. ] Pond-!

[ Now the camera wobbles as Eleven jumps over an old chest. It's not quite clear where they are. ] Have you found that deerstalker? If we're going to do this, then we might as well do this properly. [ With a flourish. ] I need to look the part.

[ End feed. ]

Buffy Summers
25 January 2012 @ 03:04 pm
[Buffy is in at home beating on the punching bag. Her skin is dripping sweat so it's obvious she's been at this a while. She's got ear buds in her ears and the tinny sound of pop music can be heard even from where the device is sitting on a stool a few feet away. She turns on the punching bag with a flying roundhouse kick that snaps the chain it's hanging from and sends it sailing across the room to knock the device off the table. She stands with her hands at the small of her back for a moment before walking over to retrieve the device, noticing it's recording when she does.]

So that's how I'm dealing with the ticking. How's everyone else doing?

[Rory turns on the camera, wincing.]

Right, so...I can barely hear myself think, so I thought this would be better than text. Hello!

[He frowns. Not loud enough. He yells instead.]

SO I'M BACK?! SURELY THE CLOCK WASN'T ALWAYS THIS LOUD? IT'S IMPOSSIBLE I WOULD HAVE FORGOTTEN HAVING TO YELL EVERYTHING. AMY? I'M NOT SURE WHERE YOU ARE. PLEASE TELL ME YOU'RE STILL HERE. THIS WOULD REALLY BE THE LAST STRAW. I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT THE FIRST STRAWS WERE BUT THIS WOULD BE THE LAST ONE.

The damned ticking is driving me crazy and for someone like me, crazy is a bad thing.

I can't even focus on anything. This just won't do.

[And cue the sound of another paper being crumbled up into a ball and flung into a bin. There's a frustrated sigh.]

Of course you just would, wouldn't you?

So, has anyone out there managed to find any relief to this? I don't think I've ever heard it this loud.

[There is what can really only be described as an array of absolutely ridiculous things around a clear area clearly meant for someone to be sitting, only there isn't someone there. And then there is. Aaaaand then there isn't. It's rifling through the desk behind him that he finds the device on.]

Normally I have a bit of a problem working on one project at a time but this... This is, this is maddening. Constant ticking - I can see where it makes a man a bit wonky. Tell you what though, excellent for composing. Never skips a beat.

Right, so - I can't use video on this, because it feels like every third word coming out of my mouth is either tick or tock. Like some vaguely terrifying horror scene from one of those movies guys think they can get some groping done if they take their girlfriends to see.

Anyway. Music seems to help? Not by a lot, and I don't think it'll get you in good graces with your neighbours if you do, but since we're all going barking mad here with the incessant ticking - louder than before, I'm sure - music, at least, sounds nicer.

Crowds sound nicer, too. So, let's try to see if we can build one?

Sim -

For fuck's sake. I'm stuck in this place again?

[ and alisha is back from her canon update. yay. she is not too pleased, however. there's a loud sound in her head and whatever she does, it won't stop.

she's by the fountain. she's sitting, an elbow resting on her leg and the side of her head in her palm as she tries to make it stop. she's tapping her heels together in hopes of going back home.
]

Will someone turn down that fucking ticking?

( curse | tick tock, goes the clock )
