Theeeey'll really make anything disappear, huh. ... Guess this isn't the greatest time for asking stuff, but—anybody gotten stuff back from the sand so far?

[ a beat. some rustling as he hits the button to end the recording. before it quite finishes — ]

That was my fucking hat...!

[ The device flashes on, revealing a haze of sand. In the haze, one can make out Olivia Dunham in a black tanktop, rifle against her shoulder. ]

We need to organize a list.

A  clear system we can use to keep track of what teams we have out there, what teams are ready to go, and who exactly needs to be rescued.

[ Olivia doesn't mean to bossy, but she can't help it. ]

In these types of crises, organization is key to preventing loss of life and reducing injury.

[When the feed clicks on, the camera displays a... dizzying view of sand, someone running, and more sand. Guess who's in the desert!! It's hard to tell from the view, but by the sound of it there's one girl running for what is most likely her life from a monster. Of course, you can't see her face, but the voice that calls out is definitely one teenage girl.]

Tenebrae! If this is your idea of a joke then you're even worse than I thought! I don't know how you got Emil to ditch me too, but you both better show up soon before this thing kills me! [Not that she can't take care of herself of course, but... come on, one girl versus some awful monster? She would definitely appreciate some help thanks!!] I know you can hear me, so where the heck are you?!

[Because if this wasn't a joke and he really couldn't hear her, this was going to become a whole lot scarier very quickly. Finally managing to find some sort of cover though, she slides behind it and finally takes a good look at the device in her hands, thereby looking straight into the camera.]

Just what is this thing supposed to be anyways? I don't think we saw anything like this in Meltokio... oh who am I kidding, it'd definitely be like Zelos for him to give us something useless and for Tenebrae to actually pawn it off to me. [Life is hard and no one understands okay.]

[ Crash landings in random cities that don't exist on any map — all in all, it's not something Percy's entirely unfamiliar with. It really could've been a lot worse. He's still not exactly happy about it, not least because he's wearing a ridiculous bed sheet-turned-toga and purple cape. This would've looked weird, if there were any people out here to appreciate it. At least his brain seems mostly in check this time.

So, City, say hello to a peeved-off son of Poseidon. He's been walking the desert, trying to find signs of A.) donut shops B.) suspicious bag ladies or C.) water. The network device isn't on that list, but he'll take what he can get: ]

Let me guess. Arizona? New Mexico?

[ He doesn't sound like he believes either. ]

Yeah... If this is another test, I'm pretty sure I'm bombing it.

[ video || Glass City ]

Um - hi. It's, Molly again. Hi.

[ All this sand business has her nervous - she's never seen creatures like those before, and this situation is, well. It's new. She's trying to keep up, though? ]

We're, um - we're trying to gather supplies here, at the Welcome Center, you know, blankets and sorts. Anything you've got to spare, we'd be glad to have it.

Anyone that's hurt or needs help with ... anything, you can have that here too.

[ Molly is the best informant, really. The best. Professional. ]

So, yes. If you can help or need help, just ... give us a shout.

Lantis
21 February 2012 @ 02:18 pm
[The video is full of static but it does show Lantis with a glowing sword in his hand. There's a rather large monster before him and judging by the angle, he's dropped his device.

Calmly he looks up at it and the screen clears up just enough to show a single tear has stained his face.

He rushes forward then just as the monster attacks, a loud roar coming from the creature right before the screen goes black.]

[ooc: Lantis is upset about losing Eagle so he doesn't know he's lost his device. That means anyone trying to contact him that way won't be able to get in touch with him. Feel free to meet up with him in the desert though!]

Needless to say, if you woke up this morning and found yourself wanting toilet paper, dryer lint, or lightbulbs for breakfast, it's probably a curse. Given the usual situation in the City, that's a much likelier explanation than a widespread outbreak of Pica.

[Cameron is sitting at a desk, looking a bit on edge, but speaking calmly.]

Unfortunately, there aren't many options for treating a curse, and-- with half or more of our staff in the desert, here, and the hospital there out of commission-- the resources we have for counsel and restraint are limited. So think of this as a public service announcement.

Just because the curse makes you want something, doesn't mean it can't make you sick. Aside from the potential for accidental poisoning or bacterial infection, sharp-edged items will damage your mouth, throat, and stomach. Hair, fabric, paper, and other soft materials can cause gastrointestinal obstruction-- cats aren't the only creatures that get hairballs, but removing a trichobezoar usually requires surgery.

[The sharp-eyed may notice there's a piece of paper with a raggedly torn edge in front of her, but Cameron's not looking at it.]

If you can't control your cravings, get someone to help you. If you can't, we'll try to find you assistance.

It's not clear yet whether the curse affects the digestive tract as well as the appetite. If you've eaten something you shouldn't have-- something poisonous, sharp, or indigestible and too large to pass-- come by the hospital. By tomorrow-- assuming the curse doesn't persist-- we should have an idea of whether you'll require further treatment, and it's always better to be safe than sorry.

[She switches off the device, but for one reason or another the audio lingers a second longer-- just long enough to capture a quiet tearing sound.]

[ooc; assuming some NPCs are affected by the curse, but if anyone would like to say they saw Cam today / action thread a hospital visit here, feel free~ There are of course no curses on the Sand side, but she doesn't know that. Also backdated to earlier today ><]
