Now this is remarkable. I've been made to understand that this is a regular event around here, this sudden seemingly free influx of unexpected visitors. One with a limited timespan as well, from my understanding. Which means it is vital to make the most of this research opportunity while it's presented itself.

Certainly somewhere there must be some indication as to the manner of the connection between this dimension and others - more apparent now than typically - and how it has been possible for those of us whose stays here are somewhat less transitory to find ourselves achieving transdimensional passage to begin with...

[And his voice trails off as he gets distracted by planning his research. The connection goes quiet for a few moments before it cuts off.]

Wouldn't you find it more concerning that, assuming each individual 'visitor' caused his own discrete puncture to the fabric of space-time, moving this many people from their respective locales to here over such a short period is the equivalent of firing a shotgun through the relatively fragile structure that's holding the universe together?

Of course! Though, a chance to better understand that structure would certainly give me a more solid foundation of exactly how well-founded such a concern is, and how much disruption is truly caused by the mass shift across all dimensions. Certainly, an opportunity to comprehend the way that this particular dimension is connected to others - because of its apparently unique nature as a hub or a nexus of sorts - would grant a greater understanding of the ways in which all realities coexist.

What method are you planning to use to examine the dimensional shifts? A scan for abnormally high concentrations of tachyons, perhaps?

Truthfully, I'm interested in all things scientific. I have to admit, my recent experiences coming here have awakened a particular fascination. Though, my primary field of work for some years has been temporal physics, which certainly bears some relation to alternate dimensions and multiverse theory.

Well - I would use slightly different terminology than "magic", but the idea of a weakened barrier is certainly one worth considering. Achieving a working understanding of the nature in which alternate dimensions coexist is hardly an overnight process, and it's certainly not a topic of research that should dismiss any proposed theory without a thorough, proper investigation.

An interesting way of putting it, if not a bit lacking in scientific detail. Though, I'm interested in accounting for the difficulty people seem to have achieving travel out of this dimension, as well as the methods via which they enter.

Do you have any hypotheses in regards to the connection?

I can't say I've collected enough data on the methods used by those that seem to be managing this particular dimension to make a hypothesis at this point. I certainly have some theories involving my own arrival, but given that it's an isolated combination of circumstances, I doubt that it has much bearing on the interdimensional connections that are typically utilized in achieving passage here.

We could posit a wormhole, but that doesn't explain why this world pulls people from multiple universes. Whether we're talking about Schwarzschild wormhole or a traversable Lorentzian wormhole, they've always been defined as A to B. One universe to another, not one to infinity.

Indeed. If transit were accomplished via wormhole, it would have to be quite a number of wormholes, which I seriously doubt would result in a dimension with any degree of stability or maintainability. Theoretically, it may be a wormhole which is stable on this end and shifting on the other, thus enabling it to access varying realities. But that wouldn't account for securing transit back to the origin universe at the same point in the timeline. That suggests a degree of control that indicates an artificial connection. Something manufactured...
