Now this is remarkable. I've been made to understand that this is a regular event around here, this sudden seemingly free influx of unexpected visitors. One with a limited timespan as well, from my understanding. Which means it is vital to make the most of this research opportunity while it's presented itself.
Certainly somewhere there must be some indication as to the manner of the connection between this dimension and others - more apparent now than typically - and how it has been possible for those of us whose stays here are somewhat less transitory to find ourselves achieving transdimensional passage to begin with...
[And his voice trails off as he gets distracted by planning his research. The connection goes quiet for a few moments before it cuts off.]
[ooc: HAVE AT HIM. Also, this post is so backdating friendly, it's got its own damn flux capacitor.]

audio; i love you for emmett brown jsyk
What?
audio; rwgnfj awwww ;; <3333
Ah, my apologies! I suppose I do have a tendency to get carried away...
To rephrase a bit more colloquially, I think that events such as this one may provide a unique opportunity to develop a better understanding of the nature of the City and how it connects to all of our respective realities.
audio; ♥!
Does this happen often? You know, people who aren't really here just ... turning up?
audio;
audio;
It's a bit random, yeah? Usually people come in, but it's not like this. I feel like I'm at some party. It's too crowded.
audio;
This is quite the hyper-accelerated cluster of arrivals - it's a remarkably high concentration of individuals to appear within such a short period of time, compared to what I've witnessed thus far. Your crowded party comparison is rather apt, actually. Of course, I have been made to understand - by those with more experience than I in this dimension - that they should all be gone within a matter of a day or two.
audio;
Anyone you know come through?
audio;
I'm not certain what the point of any of it is - several possibilities present, of course, but their collection of individuals seems arbitrary at best. I've yet to identify any apparent commonality, and I doubt that those they bring here this weekend are any different in that regard.
audio;
Maybe the deities think they owe us? Unless they're planning something and this is meant to distract us.
[ but what could they be planning side from the usual, boring curses? perhaps it's the former rather than the latter. ]
audio;
[And he pauses only half a moment before veering off again.]
So, how long have you been here, Miss... ?
audio;
I've been here since the end of August, and I can tell you all it's done is piss me off. But I've been trying to stay away from all of it's bullshit. A few curses here and there but nothing serious.
[ she pauses. ] What's your name? You sound like someone who knows about this time travelling stuff.
audio;
[Time travelling stuff? Him? Nah.]
I have done a bit of research and experimentation in the field, though my arrival in the City was the first time I've actually passed into an alternate dimension.
audio;
Alternate dimension as in another version of our world but only different?
[ she does listen to simon go on about sci fi things. sometimes. ]
Does that even exist in other people's worlds?
audio;
I have met individuals who have experience traveling between dimensions, prior to their arrival here. That sort of transit is theoretical in my own reality, but given other research I've completed, I see no reason to doubt the potential behind such theories.
[Not that he has a lot of doubt for any theories.]
audio;
[ ... she knows it's real. ]
I guess you won't think I'm crazy if I say it is back at my home. My boyfriend ... It'd just be nice if time travel wasn't a power at home and was something anyone could have.
[ which is bad but, you know, she wants to go stop simon from travelling back in time. #priorities. ]
audio;
[Okay, he's done with the evasiveness on the subject.]
In my world, time travel is written off as mere science fiction - mistakenly, I should note. People often forget that science fiction does have a basis in fact, and upon numerous occasions has served as a predictor for advancements to come. I can tell you that it's certainly possible, but achieved via technological advancement and engineering rather than as some sort of an innate ability.
Though, it's hardly an ability that everyone should have access to. That would most assuredly lead to the catastrophic destruction of the entire space-time continuum.
audio;
So, have you time travelled before?
