[When she hadn't been able to find Miles, Korra had panicked. She's been getting trouble in the Underground for what her child self did over the weekend, and her first thought was those scumbags had dragged her young housemate into it. She'd been halfway to the Underground to go break some noses when she remembered the Hall of the Missing.

That's where she found him.

Now she's trudging back into the beach house, trying to figure out the best way to break this to Jinora.]


[ voice ]

Uh... [Man she hates making public posts. She coughs awkwardly.] If any of you knew Miles Morales... he's left the City.

[A long moment of silence before the feed clicks off.]

[When Korra gets home, Jinora will have her nose buried in a book about Buddhist philosophy (it's kind of the books at the library to write themselves in the reader's language, whatever it might be). She thinks she's on to something. Her adult self had managed to come up with ideas that she, as a ten year-old, hadn't imagined.

Jinora has noticed that Miles isn't around. Unlike Korra, she didn't see any reason to worry. He's Spider-Man; he probably has Spider-Man things to do.]

[Jinora's right there when Korra gets home, both a blessing and a curse. It's best to just get these things over with, but at the same time, she would have liked a little more time to figure out what to say.]

Hey Jinora. I've...got some news for you.

[bookbending]

[The girl lowers her book slowly. It doesn't sound like good news.]

What is it?

action;

[anatural]

It's about Miles.

[Korra hesitates, then takes a seat next to Jinora.]

He's gone home.

action;

[bookbending]

[Jinora's fingers tighten on the book until her knuckles are white.]

Are you sure?

action;

[anatural]

I checked the Hall of the Missing.

[She wraps an arm around Jinora's shoulder.]

I'm so sorry.

action;

[bookbending]

[She hugs her book close and snuggles against Korra.]

But he's home. That should be a good thing.

[lawbender]

I heard about Miles. He seemed like a nice boy. It's good that he found a way home.

[ Lin will be going to find Korra in the house when she hears the news. She has the idea that Korra might need some sort of comforting. Or acknowledgment. Or something. Presence. ]

[anatural]

[Lin will find Korra working out her frustrations on the first floor. She's already broken the news to Jinora.

It's not fair!]

[lawbender]

[ Lin observes for a moment, and then makes some kind of comment about Korra's stance or something that makes sense from a combat perspective. ]

[anatural]

[Korra fights back an urge to snap at the unwanted advice. The Chief's right, after all - her stance is a little off. Instead, she says] Thanks.

[She makes the adjustment...but then relaxes.] Miles is gone.

[lawbender]

I heard your post. You're certain he's not simply out and about?

[anatural]

I checked the Hall of the Missing. He's gone.

[As usual, and thanks to careful, preparation and ahead planning, Tohru has dinner ready, but notices Miles isn't showing up. Usually he's there. He never turns anything down.]

I wonder if he's all right. I hope he's not sick.

[She heads upstairs to check on him - not having been home most of the day, she has yet to learn he hasn't been there all day. There's no response to her knock. She thinks, maybe, he's just asleep.]

[anatural]

[Korra's sprawled in her room, staring up at the ceiling. She's covered in sweat from her workout earlier, but she can't be bothered to get up and shower. Her muscles are worn, but she's still itching with irritation.

Her door is cracked open just a bit, enough that Tohru could notice her in there when she comes back down the stairs.]

[She does spot her, and even though the door's ajar, Tohru still knocks.]

Korra, is it all right if I enter? [Because no way is she just going to open it further, or have a conversation through a slightly open door.]

action;

[anatural]

Huh? Oh, sure.

[Korra sits up, groaning a little as her muscles complain.]

action;

[riceballfruit]

[She opens it tentatively, worried look on her face.]

Have you seen Miles? And dinner's ready if you want some.

action;

[anatural]

[Crap. Korra's face, not very lively to begin with, falls. She'd forgotten to tell Tohru.]

He's gone. He left the City.

[lupusalpha]

Friend of yours?

[anatural]

Yeah, he lived with us. He was a good kid.

[lupusalpha]

It happens.

[anatural]

It still sucks.

[lupusalpha]

Yeah.

[anatural]

You should stop by sometime. Naga would like the company.
