[When she hadn't been able to find Miles, Korra had panicked. She's been getting trouble in the Underground for what her child self did over the weekend, and her first thought was those scumbags had dragged her young housemate into it. She'd been halfway to the Underground to go break some noses when she remembered the Hall of the Missing.

That's where she found him.

Now she's trudging back into the beach house, trying to figure out the best way to break this to Jinora.]


[ voice ]

Uh... [Man she hates making public posts. She coughs awkwardly.] If any of you knew Miles Morales... he's left the City.

[A long moment of silence before the feed clicks off.]

[She hugs her book close and snuggles against Korra.]

But he's home. That should be a good thing.

[Korra rests her cheek on top of Jinora's head.]

Yeah, of course it is. I bet he's really happy to be there.

[After a moment, she adds.]

But it's okay if we miss him anyway.

I hope so.

[Oh... well. It's good that it's okay to miss people even if they're probably happy. Jinora won't feel so bad about feeling bad.]

He's my best friend, Korra.

I know. It really sucks.

[She sniffs and absolutely doesn't cry. Absolutely not.

Maybe a little.]

[She squeezes Jinora tightly. It's okay to cry. She won't judge.]

[Jinora gives Korra's shirtsleeve an urgent tug.]

You and Lin and Tohru can't leave.

We're not going anywhere.

[She hasn't learned not to make promises she can't keep.]

[Fortunately, Jinora has learned that not all promises can be kept.]

Okay.

[But, snuggled up against Korra and unable to believe that Miles is just gone, she really wants to believe.]
