--ome on, you piece of crap. [ Even if you don't know her, Leslie sounds more than a little stressed out. Her voice even sounds a bit tight but if anyone asks, she'll blame that on the whole suddenly in an unfamiliar fountain in an even more unfamiliar city thing.

She sighs and then there's just the chatter of the people near the fountain for a moment before she realizes she got her device to work. Finally. ] I really hope you guys can hear this because this is all the warning you're gonna get: when I find you, your asses are mine. [ Apparently she thinks this is only going to be heard by a couple very specific people. ] Kidnapping isn't cool, even if it's an attempt to cheer someone up. Especially then because, surprise, it doesn't work. In fact, it just kinda pisses them off.

ooc: As stated, she's in the fountain, so feel free to have your characters run into her there!

[ There's a reason (okay, several) that Kelly's her best friend and that's exactly it, that he won't force her to talk about shit she'd rather just ignore.

The breath she lets out can't really be called a laugh but it is a bit happier sounding than the others have been. ] Seems that way. [ Moving one hand to his shoulder, Shay turns her head to look at him, chin resting on her hand now. ] It's not as cool as the movies make it seem.

[ To some extent, they enable each other's denial. Except Leslie's stronger than he is and more likely to put her foot down where he's just going to go with the flow. At least that's what he thinks now, after the whole thing with his shoulder.

Except he saw that through in the end, didn't he? ]

Guess our lives just aren't some B-rated sci-fi thriller. [ Tightening his arm around her shoulders briefly. ]

[ He did, but it took something pretty fucking big for him to wake up and smell the coffee. Honestly, though, she's just thankful things worked out the way they did. In that department.

That actually gets a quiet snort. ] Guess not. [ She continues leaning against him for a moment before she straightens, hand still resting on his shoulder. ] So, tell me about this place. Specifically if there's a bar that's currently open and serving hard liquor. [ Because she needs a drink or five. ]

Funny, that's the frist thing I asked, too. [ He starts walking. ] C'mon, I'll take you.

[ His grin disappears quickly enough right after, though. ] Not sure if I can make sense of it, but there's curses and we're all stuck here and time doesn't pass back home, apparently. Oh, and there's a guy who looks just like Casey, but he's actually an Australian doctor.

I knew there was a reason I liked you. [ She doesn't grin so much as frown a little less, though she does slip an arm through his.

She doesn't bother hiding the confused, "You must be crazy" expression on her face when she glances in his direction, either. ] Seriously? [ Even Shay's not sure what part of that she's questioning. ]

[ That's good enough for the time being. He remembers all too well getting here and not understanding any of this. Having a drink helped with the acceptance, to some extent. ]

Yeah. Seriously. [ A beat, and he decides he's just going to keep it simple. Chase is the one thing he knows more than just hearsay about so far, anyway. ] I'll introduce you.

Great. I'm looking forward to it. [ It's more a knee-jerk response than anything - she feels like her brain's on overload again - as she glances back towards the path they're heading down. It's only a moment before she's looking back at Kelly, though. ] How is that possible? Does Casey have an Australian twin we don't know about?

The guy says no. [ A shrug, and this is another thing that Severide's decided to just take at face value for the time being. He's not sure he believes everything he's been told about this place, he's not sure he even believes that it's real and he isn't hallucinating while lying in a ditch somewhere with a head wound (it would make more sense than this), but given that he's here now and seemingly not going anywhere?

Doesn't seem much of a point in raging against it. ] Apparently there's different worlds and people end up here. I don't get it.

[ Shay, on the other hand, is going to need some time to just go "fuck it" and not try to piece everything together in a way that makes sense. Which means she's dragging a hand over her face and then letting out a disbelieving laugh. ]

What the hell have we gotten ourselves into, Kelly? [ She knows neither of them had anything to do with getting here but she can't really think of anything else to say. ]

I've no idea. [ Pulling her a little closer for a moment, almost playful in an attempt to cheer her up a little. ]

We'll make it through, all right?

[ She leans into him easily enough and nods, another one of those mostly-sad-but-still-real smiles curls the corners of her mouth. ]

Yeah, we will. [ Moving her arm around the middle of his back, Shay glances over towards him. ] So. Any chance I could crash on your couch for a couple days? Assuming you even have a couch. [ People have to have apartments here, right? Of course, if Severide's only been here a few days, he might not have a place yet because of money issues... ]

[ He doesn't know how to fix that. Maybe he needs to find the nearest strip club in this place. ]

Like I'd let you sleep anywhere else. Hell, the place has got a second bedroom. Move in? [ He's missed having her around. ]

[ Like Shay would turn down a trip to a strip club, even if it doesn't help her with her funk this time around.

Her nose scrunches a little and she hums for a moment, like she actually has to consider it. But it's just for show because she's nodding a second later. ] I think I could do that. [ It'll be nice, especially since it'll give her a sense of familiarity. They know they work well together, too, as far as being roommates goes. ] Any chance your place is anything like what we had back home? I'm a little attached to the layout.

[ Then that's on the agenda for one of these days. He'll figure it out, and hopefully sooner rather than later the sad tinge to her smile will be gone. ]

You think? [ Awh come on. ] It's not quite as nice. Yet. I'm hoping to fix it up a bit. [ Between the two of them, they've got plenty of style. ]

[ She'll get there. Eventually. ]

That's what I said, wasn't it? [ But she nudges him lightly in the side with her elbow before slipping her hands into her pockets. ] Good thing I'm here, then, so you've got a second opinion on everything.

[ He'll be around, at least. ]

Yeah, good thing. Someone to tell me if the picture frames are even.

Exactly. [ She's wondering just how much stuff he's accumulated in a few days, though. ] So this room of mine, is it furnished or do I need to sleep on the floor until I can get a bed?

There's a bed. [ That came with the apartment. He doesn't, however, have a second set of sheets yet. He makes a face. ] And there may be a blanket.

[ That gets the tiniest huff of amusement. ] A blanket? Wow. Who knew you were staying at the Ritz? [ She's trying to be in a good mood. Really. It feels weird, though, when all she wants to do is curl up in bed, cry, and hide from the world for a while. ]

Well, if I'd known you were coming I woulda put the champagne in the fridge. [ He's just glad she's not actually crying right now. He hates seeing her cry. ]

You could always stick it in the freezer for a while when we get there.

I'd have to go buy some, first. [ And if he had any of the money they have here? He would. ]

Don't spend money on account of me. Letting me crash in your bed tonight so I definitely have a blanket instead of maybe is enough. [ Teasing! ]

Sure. [ Honestly, Shay. What did you expect? You just got here and you're not doing so well. Yeah, you can have the bed. ]

But only if you take a shower first. Who knows what's in that fountain.

I was kidding, Kelly. [ She won't take his bed from him, especially if part of the reason he's giving it up is because she's a mess. That's bordering way too close to pity for her comfort level. ] I'll be fine.
