--ome on, you piece of crap. [ Even if you don't know her, Leslie sounds more than a little stressed out. Her voice even sounds a bit tight but if anyone asks, she'll blame that on the whole suddenly in an unfamiliar fountain in an even more unfamiliar city thing.

She sighs and then there's just the chatter of the people near the fountain for a moment before she realizes she got her device to work. Finally. ] I really hope you guys can hear this because this is all the warning you're gonna get: when I find you, your asses are mine. [ Apparently she thinks this is only going to be heard by a couple very specific people. ] Kidnapping isn't cool, even if it's an attempt to cheer someone up. Especially then because, surprise, it doesn't work. In fact, it just kinda pisses them off.


ooc: As stated, she's in the fountain, so feel free to have your characters run into her there!

[Natasha's voice is even and calm, somewhat contrasting the stressed out tone of the woman's on the device.]

I'm afraid this isn't a prank.

[ There's a few moments of silence on Shay's end before she says anything. ]

Who the hell are you? [ Because that voice doesn't belong to anyone she knows. ]

[Tetchy. But not unexpected.]

My name is Natasha, I'm a concerned- well, for lack of better explanation- citizen. I'm assuming given your tone of voice and the initial sound of splashing water when you first broadcast, you've only recently arrived.

[She pauses.]

Welcome to The City.

[ Despite the freaking out over being kidnapped, the emotional rawness left over from what just happened with Clarice and the fact that this chick could very possibly be lying (and could, in fact, be the one that brought her here), Shay manages to bite her tongue. Pissy responses won't get her very far, so she has to try to shove her emotions aside.

For the time being. ]

The City? That's seriously the best name you could come up with? [ Okay, maybe she won't play totally nice here. ]

[She's been where this woman is. She's seen and spoken to several others when they've arrived as well, Natasha may not be the best with people skills, but she does have some measure of patience and self-control.

It's not really a laugh that filters through the comm, but there is a touch of amusement in her tone.]

It's not the best name, but I'm not the one who gave it. It's what I was told when I arrived, it's what we all were.

We all? [ If this were video, Natasha would be able to see Shay's eyes widen quite a bit. ] How many people are here?

Yes. All. [She can hear it in her voice.] I can't say for sure. Easily more than fifty? [She really should check into that.]

You're kidding me. [ She's fairly resigned to the fact that Natasha isn't kidding her at this point, though. ]

How do you figure that?

I wish I were. [And that's not a lie either. Funny all the honesty from the spy.] Would you like me to come... collect you? I'll bring some towels and a blanket.

[synanthrope]

Because no one here is trying to cheer you up.

[voice]

Uh. [ Shay's still not entirely sure she should even be trusting Natasha - or anyone else here, for that matter - but towels and a blanket sound real nice right about now. ] Yeah, sure. How did you know I just got here, though, just by the sound of splashing water?

[perjured]

[ She lets out a sarcastic hum. ] Yeah, you're right, being kidnapped without a reason like that behind it is totally lucky.

[synanthrope]

Much better than being kidnapped to cheer you up, which I would hope only an idiot would conceive of.

[perjured]

At least then it would've been a prank by someone I know. [ Instead of being tossed into some place called "the City" by god knows who. ]

[synanthrope]

Most often new arrivals end up landing in the fountain. [Natasha missed it.] Plus you mentioned believing you were kidnapped.

[perjured]

No, I'm not. [ If anything, she's the idiot. ] Just because some people might - might - have a different sense of humor than you doesn't mean they're idiots. And not that it matters, but I don't even know if they would think up something like this. [ It just made the most sense. ]

[voice]

Right. [ There's a pause as she glances around and then, ] Why the fountain?

[voice]

The deities have a sense of humor?

Then why suggest it?

Someone should tell 'em that their sense of humor blows.

Because getting kidnapped and dumped in some place I never even knew existed isn't exactly a regular occurrence for me.
