[ The feed clicks on to a familiar sight. 'Li' being 'Li' -- placidly preoccupied with cooking. A spread of ingredients -- a slab of dough, grated vegetables, minced beef -- are in bowls on the kitchen counter. But it's apparent that the kitchen isn't his. It's too large, too well-appointed. But Li opens shelves, takes out pots and utensils, as if he's familiar with the setting. Moving to the fridge, he cracks it open to peer inside. ]

[ And scowls. ]

[ Pitching his voice to a yell -- ] You forgot the milk. Again [ -- he reaches inside to withdraw two eggs. ] One simple task. And she can't do that right...

[ Such a sweet-tempered hubby. Whatever dish he's making is surely filled with love. Halfway to the counter, he nearly trips over something lying on the floor. Glowering, he stoops to collect a child's colorful softball. ] ...It's like living in a damn toybox... [ Grumblegrumble. Hopefully he's not this charming all the time. (Spoiler: he is.) ]

There's nothing wrong with an extra pair of hands. [ Or other parts. Jealousy is an emotion rooted in possessiveness, after all. That's hard to muster that when you don't feel married. If she's pestering someone else instead of him, who's he to complain? ]

[ He asks himself the same question. But no, he wouldn't be eager for lessons. He'll just do what he always does. Disappear outside as soon as dinner's over. ]

[How sweet. Of course ne turns and wraps nir arms around him for two can play this game.]

Not all men are so afraid of a woman who is stronger than they are.

[Ne'll just have to catch him relaxing before then, or jump him in the kitchen.]

[ He doesn't tense or stiffen; he's too well-trained for that. If the kids weren't around, he'd have no qualms about shoving her off. All he does is tilt his head to murmur in her ear, ]

Not all men are so desperate they'd stick it in something that barely qualifies as a woman.

[Ne has no doubts just how things would be if the children were not in the room. What a shame they are, so few things get him actually close to emotional and in action.]

And yet fewer still deserve it as much as you do.

[ Hei's smile widens, but his eyes glint like ice, ]

Settle for what you think you deserve, and you become the person who deserves it. [ He straightens with a cursory swat to her rear -- all for show. Turnabout is fair play, after all. Sweetly, he adds, ] I haven't settled for anything.

[Not that the other half thinks so either since nir bed isn't getting cold at night.

And since ne's still hanging on to him, and it's all in the name of putting on a show, ne kisses him.]

[ What doesn't urge her on? ] Funny how people who know the least have the most to say. [ The smile smoothes into cold blankness when she leans in. He could turn his head aside, let the kiss land on his cheek. He could shove her off before she makes a fraction of contact. ]

[ Instead he lets the kiss land. She'll find it as exciting as touching a block of concrete, for the warmth she gets. With an edge of distaste, he breaks from her hold. Quietly scathing, he says, ] So much for breakfast. I've already lost my appetite.

[ Without waiting for a response, he returns to the stove as if she's no longer in the room. ]

[Returned affection from an adult.

The kiss is again for show, for annoyance, but their children should see some kind of warmth between their parents. Not that ne cares one way or the other if he wants it.]

Miracles do happen after all.

[ If it's a miracle, it's a short-lived one. By the time breakfast's ready, he'll be eating as much as anyone. ]

[ The glutton. ]
