33 - Armed To The Teeth Against Love

What the hell is this?!!

[ The impressive shout emerges, not from a man, but a teddy-bear. Lying on the pavement, kicking his tiny arms and legs feebly. Hi, Karl. ]

Of all the pathetic, worthless, idiotic -- !

[ A stream of profanities. Such a mouth Mr. Teddy has. Not PG-rated at all. ]

[ her fingers tighten around his fluff, eyes narrowing suspicoiusly ]

And you didn't ask them for this?

[ oh yes, she has her doubts. First the arm, now this? What other little trinket did he request? Her forgiveness? That wasn't theirs to manipulate. That sweet little boy he relied on? Not their business.

But no.

He'd asked for Saya hadn't he? The timing was too good, too close. Ah, Karl, Karl. If only you'd waited.

And then she slowly, slowly, started to pluck, waiting for an answer ♥ ]

[ Terror, even in a teddy-bear's body, is a paralyzing emotion. If he had a pulse, it would be thumping on double-time. No no no no. NO. This wasn't something he asked for. He'd never wanted -- !!! ]

[ At the first pluck, a yelp escapes him. ]

I didn't! I swear I didn't.

[ He's on the edge of panic: it's like being a child in the convent-school and accused of sins he hadn't committed. He was always stung by the suspicions, by how quick everyone was to condemn him. No one gives me a chance, he'd always lamented, four years old, eight, thirteen, sixteen, chastised for things he'd never understood. ]

[ Story of his life. ]

[ she relished the terror, the frightful ease that in this moment, she held his very fluffy life in her hands. She ran the nail down his fur, the long drapes over one ear down to the very tip of Karl's stuffed toes. ]

[ words were easy, but her very voice was a compulsion. She'll trust; she'll have no choice. ]

[ Stuffed toy or not, his life is always in her hands. It may be Saya's blood that can end him. But she can extinguish the light in his eyes, his thoughts, his very Karl-ness, with a simple word or glance. Or nothing at all. ]

[ If he could tremble under the wake of her nail, he would. As it is, all he can do is squirm. ]

I do. It's a curse -- it will end by this weekend, you'll see.

[ He wouldn't lie to her. Unlike Amshel, who manipulates as easily as breathing, Solomon, who embellishes and paints pretty pictures with words, and Nathan, who always hides behind enigmatic riddles, Karl's always been the honest one. Straightforward to a fault. ]

[ she drops him then, dusting her hands and looking mildly annoyed ] Then I'll wait.

[ she'll wait and watch and kill whoever dared to do this to her chevalier. How took advantage of it. This idiocy was getting out of hand ]

[ He lands on the pavement with a plop. Bereft, disconsolate -- peering up at her with shiny button-eyes. There's so many who've taken advantage of his state to torment him. ]

[ Tit-for-tat, really, for all the times he's tormented them. ]

[ Don't be angry with him ;; ]

[ She's not. She's angry at them ~~and Karl for allowing this~~. But she's not going to move either, shifting to sit and stare at Karl's teddy bear form.

However long it took, she'll wait.

[ He'll have little choice but to lie there. And gaze back forlornly. ]

[ Gazing. ]

[ This could get weird in a hurry. ]

[ hardly, because she's yawning in less then a minute and curling on the floor, body wrapping around the bear without thinking. Naptime.
