Do you know what they call French kissing in France?

There are a few different names for it -- "baiser profond", or deep kiss; "baiser avec la langue", or kiss with the tongue; and "baiser amoureux", or love kiss. In Austria, French kissing is slang for oral.

I'm fluent in it. I wanted to go to Paris for a while, so I worked on it and it just... happened to pay off, I guess.

Okay so your probably shouldn't have told me that cause now every time we come into contact I'm going to ask you to say something to me in French and then make you translate it for me into English. Which is totally your prompt now to say something awesome in French.

[ There's another laugh. ] I don't mind. Here, I'll teach you the most important phrase you'll ever know in French. [ Here she'll clear her throat, for effect. ]

"Est-ce que vous parlez anglais?", which means "Do you speak English?".

[Dawn has to try it three times before it sounds anywhere near the correct phrase or as good as Ariadne's French. But finally she does get to where it sounds at least semi-decent.]

I'm gonna have to practice that like all day. I feel so cool knowing someone who lived in France at least for a little while. Where did you grow up?

Cobb's staying with you guys now, right? He might be able to help. [ She pauses, chewing on her lip for a moment. ] Just don't tell him I was the one who suggested it.

[ No thinking about Cobb, now. Not after that fight, not when she's only just come home after it a few days ago. ] The Midwest. Definitely not many opportunities for French there, but I managed.

He speaks French too? Sheesh, you think you know a person... Okay so I don't really know him that well yet. But still!

[She hesitates, noting the reaction at the mention of Dom. She was uncertain for a moment whether to continue on that trek or to move on to something else.] Yeah, I was from a little town called Sunnydale in California. And the French teacher at my highschool was all mediocre, most of the foreign language teachers were. [And now some of them were dead, but lets not talk about that.]

Yeah, that tends to happen. I was no where near as good as I am now when I went to Paris, and I still have things to work on.

Plus there's probably the slang that gets used by actual French people and people who just learn the language from another country. In my high-school there were some people actually from Mexico and their Spanish was pretty different from the Spanish used by a lot of Spanish speakers who had been in the IS for awhile. They both learned stuff from each other, which was probably cool if you knew what they were saying. I only know minimal Spanish and even the minimal is minimal... as in really bad.

Yeah, definitely. Baiser is actually used as slang, too; in that case, it roughly translates to 'fucking'.

[ Somewhere out there, Tony Stark is sitting up like a meerkat because Dawn and Ariadne are talking about this, just as he did when they kissed during the mistletoe curse. ]

[Hey that was an awesome kiss as far as girl-kissage goes. It was worthy of people taking note and sitting up. Awkward, but good. And if Dawn was gonna kiss a girl, at least she was pretty and nice!]

Okay now that's funny. Baiser. But you probably have all the inside scoop as far as French goes. But with that word it all means deep fucking, fucking with the tongue, or love fucking. I am way too amused by this... more than I should be.
