[It's the ocean! The waves are tumbling and pretty decent today, and the device is on the sand, recording a slight figure in a blue and black neoprene wetsuit catching a wave and riding it, getting in the pipe, and then barreling out the other end.
In another minute she's coming out of the water, laughing - yes, laughing - and shaking her head to get the excess water off. She moves so her device, sets her surfboard upright in the sand and unzips her wetsuit down just a bit to get more sun.
When she speaks, her accent is a touch more Australian than it ever was, with the Namibian still in the background.]
There's a fierce curl out there today; Scholar would love this, I know I'm taking as much as I can out of it. Why isn't anyone else out here?
[She flops back, then remembers why she's out here. She grabs her device.]
I woke up and the hostel I'm staying at [she doesn't remember getting there or where she is but she's sure she's at a hostel] had this huge collection of shoes, so I put them out. I figure the owners will turn up and get them, because they're not mine. If they were mine I would have given them to a charity shop, they look pretty expensive.
[She flops back again]
Come on, someone come out here! The water's grand!

[She's kinfolk is what it is, and she knows it.]
It's the banana, you know. All that stuff about apples is a big crock. Bananas.

[There's a look that goes with that and it somehow accidentally manages to take in the movements of the towel across her body.]
Though for future reference, I don't recommend swimming the morning after forgetting you rented a Porsche. Bananas can only get you so far.

But I had a doctor with me, so if I went into some kind of alcohol related shock you could have at least proclaimed my time of death accurately.

Does the doctor think I'm fit enough to?

I don't think I'd need to sign any certificates. Not worth it.

Because you know where we're going.

[He reminds, climbing in. Boardies are entirely appropriate dress for this.]

[Buuuut. She relents]
And I'm cheering you up.
[She slips into the passenger side. Bikini definitely serves. It's warm enough.]

I'll let you tune the radio.

[She's actually a great singer, now that she can put emotion behind it. But she tunes into the radio - Boys of Summer (the Don Henley version) is on.]

Accompaniment.

Saya I've changed my mind, please sing along to this fantastic Don Henley song-
[Her accent is a pitch perfect mimic of his, nuance and all]

Well now I hardly have to.
[Fingers tap at the sides of the wheel]
And I can seeee you, brown skin shining in the sun. Got your hair combed back and, sunglasses on.
[He has a fine voice, too, but he's using it to howl.]

And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong, after the boys of summer have gone.
[She manages it just barely before laughing some more]

But it's not a long song and it's not a long journey and soon both are almost done.]

So is this a no shoes no shirt place? Because I have a sarong but I definitely don't have a shirt.

That's the wrong question. The question is, 'do you like John Hughes movies?'
[The sign swinging over the door reads The Breakfast Club]
I do.

Do I get to be Molly Ringwald or Ally Sheedy?
[She grabs his shirt and slides it on - it's big on her, it makes her look like the girlfriend who stole her boyfriend's shirt post sex]

I don't know, are you ordering cereal sandwiches? You can be Emilio if you want to be.

[She makes her way through the door]
I think that I would rather be Anthony Michael Hall.
