017 [Video | Action]

[iwasherefirst]

[There is a blonde, little girl laying on her stomach on the floor. There are papers and crayons scattered all around her. The tip of her tongue is caught between her teeth as she works on a drawing. After a moment she looks up at the device and waves.]

Hullo. [She holds up her drawing. It's a very six year old drawing. There's something that appears to be a blue police box and two stick figures. One of them has hair that sticks straight up from his head. The other has no hair.] These are my Doctors and this is the TARDIS.

This Doctor [She points to the stick figure with the hair.] made me pancakes this mornin'. He flips 'em in the air and everythin'. I wanted 'em shaped like things so he made 'em shaped like the Medusa Cascade. The Medusa Cascade is shaped like this. [She puts her paper down, draws on it and holds it back up. It's a blob shape.] The Doctor says m'gonna go there when I'm bigger and grown up.

This Doctor [She points to the one without any hair] has never finger painted before so we're gonna fingerpaint today.

Hang on, I have to get the big board, remember? Anyway that's cheating. Why on earth would I let you stand me up against a chair so you can sling your way up?

[Really, she's still Rose, just in a smaller body.

Well now she's going to sigh dramatically and let go of his hand.]

Fiiiiiiiiine. I'll get up there and I get to stay as long as I want.

[He grins and shoves his hands in his pockets while he leans towards her a little bit.]

You can stand on your chair as long as you want to.

[~whoops off to get the board now]

Nuh huh!

[She's just going to yell it at his back as he's leaving the room.]

Your shoulders! you proooooooooooooooooooooomised. [It's amazing how much air and volume she can get out of those little lungs.]

[Seriously too much fun. The big board is true to its namesake and requires a little wrangling, if it's the size I think it is anyway.] Blimey, you can shout! You been getting lessons from Donna?

[She's going to stand over on an end table and supervise the whole hanging thing.]

Huh uh 'cause sometimes you need yellin' at.

[He's wrangling it into this room from the other one without hitting the walls too much in as much as he's able. Leans it against the wall it's going up on. Now it needs to be hung. Nails and a thing from his pocket are dumped on the floor for a moment while he uses the sonic to find a good place to hang it from.]

Mmm. I'm sure she taught you that as w-- actually you might have taught you that. I'm not sure. Or Amy possibly, from what I've heard. [He pauses and looks down at her.] Have all of my companions always yelled at me? That's weird to suddenly have the lot of you doing it. [Spot is marked, he puts the sonic away and kneels down to pick up the nails and thing he's using to hammer them with.]

Don't think Amy taught me. She doesn't like me. I might have taught me. I only yell when you're bein' really thick. Like with the Dalek or when you didn't tell me the TARDIS was in my brain or when you leave me on stupid, cold beaches. Hate that one. It's poopy.

[Even tiny!Rose has beach hate]

[That was shot number one for ambushing, but he's standing back up again and it was a short one.]

You yell at me a lot for that last one. I doubt I'll be doing it anymore. Plus, I'm getting to be a bit on the negative about beaches myself.

[She'll be a bit quicker with the second one.]

We should build sand castles on the beach when it's nice again. Have a picnic and everythin'.

[He lines up the nail but looks at her over his shoulder for a moment.] Do you actually normally like beaches? Or, did you. Or do you, just not the cold ones. I know we went when I was - [Gesturing to her with the free hand.]

And saw the big fish. That was fun.

[She ponders that a moment as she oversees his hanging of the board.]

I...think I usedta like 'em. Now they make my tummy hurt and you know when your chest does that achey thing so you can't breathe good? That too.

[Well. Ow. He's going to turn back to what he's doing now.]

Yeah. [Hammer hammer.] We should fix that.

[Let's go back to some levity, shall we?] See if there's any more of those big fish! I still don't know what those were. Most things here seem to be from someone's universe - hopefully they're not from one that belongs to someone who isn't here anymore. That will make it very difficult to ask them properly.

[She really didn't mean to cause that reaction and adult!Rose would have been more careful about that. Tiny!Rose doesn't think that far ahead. She does notice there's something off though so she slides down off the table she's standing on and runs over to wrap her arms around his leg. It's as good as she can get to a hug with her current height.]

We can draw 'em a picture and show it to 'em.

[Rose hugs are apparently one size fits all, which is funny, because he's run into very few things in the universe that genuinely are. The height difference is too big to do much more than wrap an arm around her shoulders, but even so, it's good.]

I'll let you draw it. Think of the lot of us so far you've had the most artistic talent in that area.

[Her hugs are very special. She's okay with just having his arm wrapped around her shoulders. She looks up at him, grinning.]

'Cause you can tell who my people are in my drawin's. Did you like the one I did of you?

[Yes, Doctor, the stick figure with the hair sticking straight up out of it's head. That was you.]

[He blinks. He's not sure he saw one of him. Rapidly doing process of elimination means he must have been the one with the 80s style flat-top. Or the chia pet.] Going for a sort of abstract look? Perhaps cubism? It had excellent lines.

[She goes back to sit down on her table]

Huh uh. [She's taking that as a compliment.] And the TARDIS too.

What color should we start with?

[Good because if she hadn't considered it a compliment I don't know what he would have done.

He watches her go back to her table and looks back at the board he still needs to hang.] What? He's getting the colours, yeah? Ask him. [Attempt to hang big board.]

Do you need help? I can help.

[She sticks her tongue out at him and hops down from her table to go off and ask the other Doctor about the colours. Don't worry, she'll be right back regardless.]

[Big board remains big and unwieldy, but he is not having too much trouble on account of woo alien. Whenever she is back he looks at her over his shoulder and says:] You can tell me if it's straight or not while I try and get it hanging, yeah? [Faces it again, lifts it, gets it on one of the nails - wide, needed two - is trying to get it on both.]

[Yes, woo alien makes up for so much. Plus he's excellently supervised and that helps as well. Or at least Rose is convinced it does.]

Okay. I can do that.

[She comes to stand next to him, hands on her hips, looking up at the board.]

It's not straight yet. [Accompanied by some giggling because clearly he's still working on it.]

[Which is funny, since normally he tends to buck supervision in general.

He gives her a look under his arm as he gets it hung properly.]

Thanks. You're just as helpful at half size as you are at normal.

At least m'not half as helpful. That's be a wreck.

[He snorts a bit in amusement.]

That'd be you staying in the other room so I could actually get things done. How's this?
