[ There's a bit of a glitchy video feed showing Eames' mug in the cramped room provided by the safe zone housing. ]

I'm not sure whether or not someone has already offered a solution to our little slimy problem- [ there's jostling movement as Eames flicks a slug off of his shoulder before he turns the camera toward the ground where he has a shallow pan set up. There's amber fluid in the pan with a rather large congregation of slugs floating inside it, a neat stack of a rather ratty looking six-pack of emptied beer cans nearby. ]

You can use beer to create traps for the slugs. It doesn't particularly matter what brand as slugs aren't the pickiest of the bunch - they'll try to get to the source and promptly drown themselves.

[ He pokes at the pan with the tip of his shoe - the slugs roll around with the momentum, dead. Eames makes a bit of a disgruntled sound. ] Yeast makes the compound a bit more appetizing for the bastards, but I hardly expect anyone to have packets of the stuff around on this side.

[ Blip! Off goes the feed. ]

George didn't strike me as a soldier boy.

[ Eames plops down on the edge of the bed. ]

And his brother?

Me neither.

[ There's a slight sigh, one leg pulling up to her chest. ]

Died.

Then I see why they want to stay here.

[ Particularly as twins; they say that bond is the strongest. ]

I only found out a little bit before Fred disappeared.

[ She sighs, tucking some hair behind an ear. ]

He came back, obviously, but...

His heart doesn't beat, [ Eames ventures. ]

Well, obviously.

[ There's a slight sigh. ]

George was a mess. Ginny and Percy were upset too, but George... [ She doesn't want to have to do that again. ]

Have they thought of trading?

Trading will get his heart beating. It's not going to keep him here.

Heart beating while he is here, though. It could be something.

[ He only tips his head an agreement, though. ]

[ There's a pause. ]

Fred asked me if he thinks that him being here is keeping them from moving on.

Could be. He's just as good as a ghost - but it's rather different, isn't it? Here is more like a different path. If they were back home and he kept haunting their every footstep, then that would be a more prominent intrusion.

They talk about this being their second chance.

[ But she sighs. ]

I've seen worse coping mechanisms, but I've never been so... involved in it.

It's not a second chance, not really. Second chance would be more apt if we were still where we're from. [ This is more of a second universe. A chance to live a certain way that they'd not be able to otherwise - and that includes them, too, not just those wizards.

He peers at her. ] Want to discuss it?

I know. [ There's another sigh. ]

We could. It sounds more exciting than watching slugs crawl to their deaths.

Certainly a bit faster, too.

[ There's a bit of a smile. ] Maybe.

So, talk.

I found him in a bar, incredibly drunk, the first day. I took him home, he ended up sobbing into my lap. [ There's a slight sigh. ] More drinking, bar fights, sex...

He started getting a little better, then Fred came back. Still, he doesn't want to talk about it. [ Her hand slides through her hair again. ] Or anything, really, which is his choice, but... I still have to deal with it.

All fighting and sex with no conversation doesn't make much of a relationship, [ Eames notes - not gentle, per say, but tampered down, keeping his focus on her. ]

Well, he hasn't been fighting with me. [ But it's sort of a moot point. ]

You know what's sad? Even if you don't include the part where it was still considered just sex, it's the longest relationship I've ever had.

[ Is it really a relationship? Other than the mutual interest, the desire of "something more" - Eames supposes it would depend on if George is stonewalling his family as badly as he is Ariadne. ]

That's not sad. It's development. Still, isn't the point of calling it a relationship involve some sort of emotional intimacy?

It's there, just not... verbally.

[ There's another sigh. ]

Not about anything to do with his issues, anyway. Even his ear.

You're acquaintances who have a lot of sex and now cuddle after.
