[ Functioning. It applies to both his own body, and the communications device, but sadly not his powers. He'd worn himself out trying to zap himself back out of this miserable existence, and now Q was suffering--suffering from a bruised ego, a sore head, and - perhaps most unfairly - a grazed knee. Mortal, but not not Q. Trapped, but not wholly aware how. And the ticking of the clock is making his headache worse. A most disagreeable state of affairs. And now here's his face, at first much too close to the camera, and then withdrawn to a more reasonable distance, revealing Voyager era command red, and four pips at his collar. Not for a moment does his scowl subside. ]

Oh, I'm sure you think you're very clever. Do you have any idea who I am? You'd be well advised to send me back where I came from immediately. Otherwise--well, I can't be held responsible for what might happen. [ Not from him. Oh, no. But the Continuum might have something to say about it. Or his family. At least he hadn't actually fallen into the fountain. He'd come close, but with at least some small part of his once magnificent power available, he'd saved himself the splash at the last second. He leans back, inspects the fingernails of his left hand disinterestedly. ]

Well? Hurry up. I haven't got all day. I'm getting bored.

[ and here she thought when she woke up monday to find the mortalized omnipotent nowhere in sight that she'd be free of him. apparently, two days of q-less rest was all she was to be granted, for lo and behold, here he is — again. significantly less wet and sporting more of his usual bravado than before. she isn't sure if that's a good or a bad thing, but with q, the good things usually are the bad things. ]

Aren't you forgetting something?

[ He's startled enough that he drops the device, then quickly he gathers it back up, looking down at her image. Not quite as good as the ship's internal comms. ]

Kathy. Look at you, you're tiny. [ And not meant to be here. Wait, he's forgetting something? That doesn't make any sense, what could he be forgetting? And more importantly: how? He squints at her. ] Forgetting? Oh, I doubt it, I never forget. Anything.

Oh? I thought you were on permanent custody duty.

[ Worry flickers across his expression, but he tries again to conceal it. He's concerned--that's why he's succumbed to empty threats. ]

It's only a matter of time before someone in the Continuum notices my absence. And while we're on the topic of absences: Kathy, oughtn't you to be somewhere else? You're hardly well placed to talk to me about duty, while neglecting your own.

Didn't we already have this conversation?

[ he couldn't have forgotten it. sure, he might've mentioned the possibility to her, but something else being able to manipulate the mind of a q, mortal or not, doesn't sit well with her. what's out there that's more powerful than the continuum? she's not sure if she wants to know. of course, the probability that q is just toying with her and actually does remember their talks from this past weekend, both civil and not, is much more likely. ]

Oh no, Mr. Big Shot here is bored!

[He shakes his head.] Althena, you sound like the Kids.

[fingersnapping]

It's Captain Big Shot, to you.

[ He folds his arms across his chest. He doesn't know who this stranger is, and that offends him almost as much as being abducted in the first place. He doesn't like not knowing, but like hell is he going to admit to that weakness out loud. ]

Oh, Captain, huh?

Ya look pretty scrawny for a captain. And a little too sober.

Yes, well, I don't wear a funny hat, either, but it doesn't make me any less a Captain.

[ Yeah, he's sticking with that one. Janeway will probably make him apologise later, but he can get away with it for five minutes--so that's exactly what he's going to do. ]

Really, in the old days I earned myself a fleetwide bulletin. The details of my exploits were required reading for all the Starfleet kiddie-winks. Now look at me; reduced to a mere anecdote.

[ He's not counting himself, somewhat distracted by the thought of Picard and Janeway being here. Oh, the inevitable battle over which one of them gets him on weekends; he can hardly wait. ]

I must say I feel very fortunate. Unexpected kidnapping aside. Today might not be so much of a waste after all.

[Theo is amused at this. The necromancer, eyes covered with sunglasses, just grins at the man. He's also has a zombie rat on his shoulder. You can tell it's a zombie because it moves and yet is missing part of its jaw.]

Actually, yes they do. No, they don't. They don't care. It won't happen. And your being bored isn't really going to motivate them.

[ The terrible thing is that he's never going to be impressed by necromancy. Power over life and death is relatively easy. Well...normally relatively easy. ]

Well it should. It's rather short sighted of them to think that they might avoid my ire out of sheer anonymity.

[ But the bravado conceals his concern. At the heart of this is the matter of there being something with the ability to shed a Q of his powers at whim, and that is frankly unacceptable. ]

[Theo would argue that necromancy isn't a power over life and death because the undead aren't truly alive but instead merely the ghosts and echos of the living so instead he's creating a semblance of life and intelligence out of dead... but that's Theo's opinion.]

Your ire? I think if you could do something about it, you probably already would have, right? Whatever powers you had or have, you've entered another god's domain and they control everything that happens. The rest of us just have to deal with it.

[Theo is going with the assumption that Q is a god by the sheer arrogance the man is radiating and threats of being able to do things that people shouldn't be able to do. As well as the whole How Dare They Don't They Know Who I Am? bit. It's something he's seen with a great deal of gods - he's not completely immune to it himself (but then he got married...). They are an arrogant bunch used to people doing what they say and now.]

My present lack of power notwithstanding. [ Admitting it makes him even more unhappy about the circumstances. He's looking forward to the revenge--oh, and there will be revenge. He's been humiliated. ] There are always repercussions; even for so-called 'gods'.
