[Who can resist a carnival especially at night? Certainly not the Doctor who appears on screen apparently eating what looks like cotton candy. He thinks it’s all brilliant as he walks by some rides, people screaming in fun with their hands up in the air. There’s nothing odd about this at all. There’s a curious part of him that wonders if with all this activity if Alonso is around.

He appears distracted stopping by a haunted house and peering at the entrance, which resembles a black and white hypnosis circle. It’s enough to make a normal person dizzy.]

Alonsooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo?

[Rose wanders because it's what she does these days when she's not working or dealing with weird curses and other things. And really she can't say no to a traveling carnival. So, she's exploring, checking out all the sights. That is of course until she sees the Doctor by a haunted house.]

[She gives him a wave and a smile.]

Couldn't resist either, yeah?

[He's surprised to see her, not to mention a little concerned considering how their last encounter went.]

Rose. Um, hello. What...what do you mean I couldn't resist? Couldn't resist what?

[The look of surprise registers and it concerns her. Maybe he expected her to have found a way out by now?]

You know all this.

[She gestures towards the haunted house and then the rides.]

Know what? I don't...what are we talking about?

[He runs a hand through his hair, wondering if she remembers.]

Why are you still looking for Alonso?

[Poor Rose has no clue. Except that he's acting weirder than usual.]

I thought I'd find him here. Carnival. Yes! You find clowns in carnivals, right?

I suppose so, yeah. So you really think you'll find him?

[She frowns for a moment.]

And what do you mean what are we talking about?

[He stops to think.]

You said I couldn't resist either. What was that about?

The haunted house? What did you think I meant?

[Her expression turns to that of confusion.]

Right! The haunted house. Welllll, they aren't really haunted you know. Just the sites of rifts in space/time. What people consider ghosts are really just images from the past...or future.

{As he's saying this he's loosening his tie and rubbing the back of his neck.]

So then you're saying that in there I'm gonna get to see glimpses of the future and the past?

[She grins at the thought and glances at the haunted house before looking back at him. Now she's worried.]

Are you sure, you're okay? You look a little...nervous?

Nervous. Naaaaaaah. And...the only thing you're going to see in there is people in costume and really cheap props.

It's a carnival haunted house. They're all the same. People jumping out at you and yelling boob.

Well it's the City so I reckon it's got to be--

[She pauses and looks at him.]

Boob? Are you sure, you're okay?

Did I say...yeah. Wellll, you know some of the actors they hire to scare people will say that for kicks and giggles.

That's just a bit bizarre, yeah? I'm still gonna check it out though.

Okay. Lead on Miss Tyler.

[He follows her in, trying to keep his eyes fixed on the back of her head, and not drift downward.]

[She grabs his hand as they go inside oblivious to the fact that he's staring at the back of her head. She's too focused on the jack in the box popping up in the corner and the strobe lights that flicker as she leads them into a narrow hallway. There's eerie music playing in the background.

She turns her head back to look at him.]

Scared yet?

[Snaps his attention back to her eyes.]

Scared? Naaaaah. They should have used Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. This music is terrible.

Bach's Toccata? Don't think I've heard of that one.

[Because Rose and knowing music just doesn't mix. But she probably has heard it before.]

It's sort of scary. Don't knock it.

[She's so focused on talking with him that she doesn't notice the upside down clown that swings down to grab at her shoulders with an evil laugh. This causes Rose to shriek and jump up.]

[He goes to the clown.]

Hello there! Do you know Alonso? Silent mime type clown? No.

[The clown disappears upwards. He looks at Rose amused.]

That was nothing to be so scared of.

[Rose glares at the Doctor after recovering and the clown is out of sight.]

Let's see how you feel if someone grabbed you like that.
