[ Clary's video is a little shaken like she can't quite keep her hand steady. When it trembles, it shows off more of her hiding place - the little cupboard she's wedged herself in. Her arms are covered in runes but she hasn't had time to glamour them or hide them well and they show up stark against her skin. Blood trickles weakly down her temple and her eyes are wide but her voice comes out calm. ]

This is madness, I don't know what's --. I hate boats. [ She's not going to kill anyone, she's not. She still dreams of Valentine and the way she'd torn through the hull of his ship with a thought. She could do it now, but that scares her more than the man trying to find her. She's being hunted and somewhere in the fray she's lost her weapon. She can't find her friends. It's hard enough to not panic instinctively. Now she simply breathes out and presses a hand to her head. ] Jace? Mae? Are you on board? Are you okay? Please tell me if you are and where you are. And Jem, Jem if you're here too let me know. We need to --. [ Stick together.

Clary freezes when she hears a noise outside and the camera dips to her waist as she presses her ear to the door. There's nothing for a moment before she's whispering. ] I have to go. Please be safe. Please.

( ooc: so I'm npc'ing Clary's attacker and after this video she's likely to start running again. If you'd like to run into her feel free. )

I was going to tell you.

[ But she'd wanted to talk to Jace first and then this had happened. Clary's response comes minutes later when she's sneaking down a corridor, her face pinched and her breath a little ragged. ]

But I wasn't sure. I haven't been a Shadowhunter for very long. [ Her back presses against a wall as she hears movement. Her voice drops to a whisper. ] Where are you? Are you okay?

[silvering]

It's okay [Jem reassures her.] I doubt Shadowhunters have become any less secretive in over one hundred years.

[There is a pause while Jem stands silently in the shadows and lets someone go past.]

I'm okay. I will find Clary. You shouldn't be alone.

[Video]

[steleheart]

[ She's inching closer to the other end of the corridor now, her red hair falling into her eyes and her mouth twisted in unhappiness. ] For your first curse this is pretty rough.

[ She goes to say something else when whoever's been following her steps out in front of her and makes to grab her. Her device goes sliding out of her hands but she's quicker now, has had some training and she tries to move as fast as she can to duck out of the way. ]

[Jem's video blacks out as he sees someone else appear on Clary's device. He's put it away and is moving quickly down the next corridor looking for her.

He see's her red hair first and launches himself at her attacker, aiming a strike at their shoulders to get their attention away from Clary.]

[steleheart]

[ She doesn't have time to marvel at his skills because they both need to get out of here as quickly as possible. So she scrambles to her feet and twists around to grab the nearest thing - a fire extinguisher. The weight almost makes her stumble but she lifts it in time to shout at him. ]

Jem, duck.

[silvering]

[If he was working with Will there would be no need for words. Jem ducks without question, trusting she had a plan. His eyes were on her attacker, watching in case he proved too fast.]

[steleheart]

[ She hits him hard enough that he crumples and drops the extinguisher, her hand flying to her mouth in shock. She had to, she did, he'd already come to close to hurting her and she'd wanted to protect Jem. But her stomach twists and she thinks of Valentine. ]

Is he -- I didn't ... [ Please don't let him be dead. ]

[silvering]

[Jem's fingers go to the guys pulse point and he looks up at Clary.]

He's still alive [He reasures her.] Do you see any where we could store him so he can't come after you again when he wakes up?

[He needs to be practical before he can take the time to make sure she is okay.]

[steleheart]

There are rooms around here.

[ She twists round the corner and nods, coming back. ] We could put him in one, lock the door I guess. I tried to ... I tried to tell him the notes must've been a lie but he just wouldn't listen.

[ Frowning as she moves to help him lift the man. ] Thank you. For coming for me.

[silvering]

Some people aren't as nice as we are.

[Jem comments sadly as he slides his hands under the mans armpits and begins to drag him backwards. He smiles across the body.]

I cannot imagine anyone could you leave alone when you are distressed.

[steleheart]

I hate that I am, I shouldn't be.

[ She helps get the man into the room and on to the bed before looking over him in worry. He'd been trying to kill her but the thought of leaving him here makes her feel ill. ]

Will he be okay?

[silvering]

[Jem leans on his cane. The man's face was white but his breathing wasn't laboured.]

He is going to wake up with a huge headache tomorrow but he will be fine.

[Jem touches her arm.]

I'm glad you get distressed by people hurting each other.

[steleheart]

[ She smiles, tentatively, and looks towards the door. ]

C'mon, let's get out of here. I don't know where in this place'll be safe but maybe if we keep moving.

[silvering]

[Jem locks the door behind them on the way out.]

We should finds the others you were looking for, there will be more safety in numbers if others try to attack.

[steleheart]

Jace and Mae.

[ She nods, runs her hand through her hair and winces when she pulls against the caked blood there. ] Jace is like us, Mae isn't. But she knows a little of the world we live in, she has the same kind of horror in her own.

[silvering]

Something is better than nothing. At least she will have some means to protect herself until we find her.

[Jem notices the wince.]

Do you need a healing rune?

[steleheart]

[ She holds out her stele, a spare one Jace had given her and not her mothers, and hands it to him. ] Can you do it? I'm not sure I can stop my hands from shaking enough to get it right.

[silvering]

Of course. [Jem takes it in his slender hands. It is no so different to the one owns. Carefully he keeps her hair out of the way and draws the rune below the injury.

He talks to help keep her calm.]

I have lost count of the times I've needed to do this for Will.

[steleheart]

Who's Will?

[ She smiles at him when the rune takes affect. ]

[silvering]

My parabatai.

[And Jem is missing him already.]

He always throws himself headlong into battles.

[steleheart]

[ She grins, can't help herself. ] He sounds like Jace. He's always the one getting in the most trouble.

[silvering]

I am guessing it is you who reins him in when he goes too far.

[steleheart]

Well, I try. [ Brightening. ] But mostly that's Alec. [ A pause. ] Although now he's with Magnus I guess he might have other things on his mind.

[silvering]

Magnus? [Jem says the name carefully]

Is that any relation to Magnus Bane?

[steleheart]

Yes!

[ She grins. ] Wow, is he that old?
