[Doc has been so absorbed in what he's working on, he hasn't even noticed that it's one of these weekends again. This is, in fact, the first that he's emerged - and he's so excited, he hasn't filtered this at all.]
Chekov! I do believe I have the final adjustments made on the rebuilt circuits, if you should happen to be up for a test run by any chance. I must confess, I'm quite eager to see if it will truly take flight again. I had all but written that particular modification off as a loss entirely.
If it does work again, well -- I may be getting a bit ahead of myself here, but I'm certain it could prove to be invaluable in handling any number of the situations the City is so very fond of throwing at us.
[And he's off, pulling the DeLorean out of the workshop… and into the still-crowded streets of the City.]
[ooc: I got sidelined by a HUGE case of eyestrain-induced migraine last night, so I didn't get a chance to get this up then. Please accept my apology along with this offering of one severely backdated fourth wall post and have at it.]

He gives a slight yelp, and a much larger flail of his limbs, before he reaches over and attempts to soothe Everett with a pat on the head. ]
Hush, boy, hush--

And where did you come from?

I'm afraid you've somehow found your way in the middle of an experiment, my friend.

Time to get the dog out. Doc lifts open his gull-wing door and Everett leaps out, then turns back to the car and barks at it.
Doc has one thought: Remarkable. ]

I am, of course, but is it wise to test her before the visitors leave?
voice;
I, ah-- I'm afraid I've only just become aware of that particular issue. I suppose you could say I was rather occupied with my work this weekend.

With any luck, if all has gone as planned and the reconstruction of the circuitry was successful, we'll be officially restoring the last bit of the DeLorean's functionality tonight.

However, it certainly seemed worth the effort to repair it. I'm certain I've only begun to imagine how useful this could prove in some of the situations we have thrust upon us, here.

[oh look, his favorite word]
Oh yes, if there is anything that we have in great quantity in the City, it is time. At least inasmuch as we can be aware, since departures can always make for an unexpected, abrupt interruption--
[Well, he's just gonna snap out of that now, with a little shake of his head. And the smile's back.]
Useful-- yes, yes, I do hope so. Any way to provide assistance to one another should be fully utilized.
[Video]
It should, yeah. If you get it working, I'd love to see it.
[Video]
I will make absolutely certain that you get a chance to see it when it's functioning again.

We've been working to reverse-engineer and rebuild the vehicle's flight circuitry, which had been destroyed prior to my arrival in the City. Of course, given the interferences that come with life in the City, it's been far easier said than done to put any appreciable amount of time into the project. But! Tonight, we should be ready.

I can't believe you have a flying car. That's like something out of science fiction. [You know, the classic stuff.]

Well, they are very much real, in my own reality. [Or they will be. Shhh.]
Though I've always been of the belief that science fiction - fiction truly based in science, in the exploration of the imagination, the expansion of our potential, and dreams of furthering human accomplishment - is a powerful medium for the sharing of ideas, of concepts. A basis for development, for testing the true limits of possibility and breaking out of imagined confines we've mistakenly constructed for ourselves.
video;
I agree. But I wouldn't limit it to science fiction. I think all good fiction challenges our preconceptions and helps us to see the perspectives of other people.

From what Pavel's told me, it certainly sounds like quite the vessel. I must admit that I envy you the opportunity, the chance to explore the stars, to broaden the horizons of humanity, to make discoveries with such universal significance.
