Oddly enough, the first instance of this particular event I was here for has been the worst for me, thus far. I suppose, by the City's time, that's about four years ago now. It's been longer by my count, but to be honest, it's a little disconcerting to even try to keep track of that.

At any rate, when you go through enough of these they start to just become part of life here. Like a drastic, sudden spike in tourism that often comes with a few acquaintances and even friends - some of which have been developed exclusively over the course of these days - who are, of course, welcome to say hello. For those who haven't been here before, welcome to the City. I do realize that how terrifying it can be to find yourself here, but you'll probably be headed home before long, right back to when and where you came from.

For those of us on this side, the best option has always seemed to be going about your day and taking the visitors as they come, so that's precisely what I'm going to do. Besides, I somehow doubt the hospital would appreciate me calling out right after a massive population spike.

There is, yes. The City's a big place, fairly large population even on a normal day - it'd be hard to imagine us getting by without one.

[Though he's always pleased to see her, the usual smile doesn't come when he spots her. Credit the subject matter she starts the conversation with - it's hard to smile when she's commenting on a poor prognosis. Still, he steps toward her, stopping just behind her and slightly to a side (familiarly close, though not actually in contact) and looking over her shoulder. He frowns as he critically eyes the mass.]

Thymoma? Typically not malignant... [It doesn't look good, though.] Whose chest are we looking at?

[ Joan will run into Wilson at the hospital. She's got a stranger in tow with her... someone she doesn't know or care about, but he had a newly broken arm and might be in danger of shock, so she took it upon herself to drag him to the hospital. People were happy to give her directions. But the hospital is as busy as the City outside, and she is getting tired of waiting for someone to see the stranger. She itches to be out there, figuring out what's going on and why she's here in this odd place. ]

Excuse me? [ She's trying to get his attention, giving him a hopeful, friendly smile. ] Do you have any idea of the wait time right now?

[Watch out for the bleeding heart. Though he does have a clipboard in hand, hustling through the not entirely un-zoolike waiting area, he stops to returns her smile with a small one of his own, though it is a bit weary from the admittedly busy day. His tone starts off apologetic.]

I'm... afraid I'm not entirely sure. It's been a little tricky, keeping track of time.

[Though he gives her charge a glance, and frowns at the arm. That's when he steps closer to get a better look.]

I certainly do, though they tend to have a way of finding me. The network certainly helps with that.

A wise choice. No doubt the hospital will be both overburdened and understaffed. If this is a regular occurrence I would expect there to be a bit more infrastructure in place to handle it, frankly.

The hospital will be busy, but it always manages. There's always been enough infrastructure in place for dealing with this one weekend out of every few months, but... if you do feel particularly inclined, you can always point it out to our so-called "deities".
