[It may be a day of performances on the Network, but at the moment, Rosella (who is thankfully uncursed) has other things on her mind. As such, she's out by the Drowning Pool--or as close as she dares to get, given the ghoulish commotion that was taking place there in recent days.

But of course, one doesn't have to get particularly close to see what's risen from the depths, does one.]

What in the world could they mean to do with all this again...

[And that's a thought that will linger like a stormcloud as she ponders the newly resurrected prison--and all the terrible memories that accompany it--before eventually heading back into the City proper.]

It's a prison? For people who live here?

That's right. A very long time ago, there was someone with the power to put people in there--rather like a sheriff, except that the people in the City would elect him every so often. Now there's simply the police, and they haven't had use of it since the Deities sank it.

And now?

And now they've raised it again, and I don't know why.

[She's quiet a minute.]

The last time, when they sank it...they left people inside. Or tried to, at least. I don't know what they could mean by it, bringing it up again.

They killed people?

[primrosella]

[Ouch.]

Yes. If people couldn't get out in time, they--yes. They did.

Then I think you really shouldn't be out here.

[primrosella]

If I were never to go anywhere that people had been hurt before, there wouldn't be many places in the City I could go at all.

[lupusalpha]

Where would you go?

Well...I don't know, really. The Rose Path in Xanadu, perhaps. It's rather nice out there.

[He's trying to figure out where is safe, okay?]

No one's been hurt there?

[WELL, IT'S KIND OF CREEPY.]

Not that I can recall, no. When awful things happen, they mostly seem to leave the gardens alone.

...You're welcome? Are you...er, looking for a safe place yourself, then?

Well, there are safe places in the City, too, even though people might've gotten hurt in them before. I didn't mean to suggest that--well, sometimes things happen, you know, but it had nothing to do with how safe a place was, or if it could've been moreso.

It's the things we don't mean to suggest that end up being real.

[primrosella]

A place doesn't need to be impenetrable to be safe, that's all. And the City has an awful way of finding its way around most defenses, anyway.

It is rather cold out, isn't it? But it's not so bad, so long as one doesn't stay out for too awfully long.
