I'm not familiar with this species. In attacks, which do they primarily rely on: teeth or claws?

Dog-bears don't exist in my world. Do have two separate animals; dog and bear. Dogs bite. Bears do as well, but prefer to use their claws - paw swipes.

I'm trying to ascertain how she got sick. Her method of attack/defense of you could provide clues. Now, did she bite at them or what?
