[It's an undisputed fact of the City that not every curse is a tragedy. Sometimes they are. Sometimes they're just irritating. Sometimes they can even be fun. It's all a matter of perspective, really.

If you happen to be strolling through the park this afternoon, you'll find a group of citizens gathered around an old school boombox and a badass set of speakers. They've decided being annoyed by spontaneous dancing is too much effort, so instead, they're using it as an excuse to skip out on work and share the music they love with their fellow citizens.

Hey, man, any excuse to have fun! You're all invited! Bring your records, your cds, your mp3 players, your guitars, your voices. If you have music to share, there's a group of people here ready to dance. And if you're just in the mood to dance yourself, well, you're in good company.]

[Korra had gone to the park to train, but the sounds of music drew her to the crowd. Before she knew it, she was dancing along with the crowd.]

[Cursed? Not cursed? Who cares? The music may be weird and she may not really know how to dance, but that's not stopping her from having a good time.]

[He smiles right back before giving her an overexaggerated bow (bumping into more than one or two dancers in the process, but that's no big deal).]

No, thank you! [The middle of a busy, musical crowd is an acceptable place to have a conversation.] The pleasure was mine, miss.

[She gives him a bow in return, barely missing a couple of herself, looking abashed as people bump into her while passing her by.]

If it's okay...could we do it again?

[No one seems to mind being bumped into (or stepped on, or spun, or...). He holds a hand out.]

Of course--as long as my poor dancing doesn't offend you.

It's not poor at all. I'm not very good, but this is exciting! [It's all about having fun, right? She's definitely having that. She takes Chekov's hand.]

[candothat]

You are far too kind. [He obligingly spins her again, having a great time himself.]

[riceballfruit]

Kind? No, no. I mean it. [She goes through the twirl, then tries to lead him into...she's not even sure. She just saw another guy do this swoop move to a girl earlier, and it looked fun!]

[candothat]

[Whatever the move is intended to be, it doesn't result in anyone falling; that automatically makes it a success.] Where did you learn to do that?

[riceballfruit]

[No one fell? Then, yes, total success. Especially for a first try. She doesn't point, because pointing is rude, but Tohru does gesture her face toward another couple.] I saw him do it earlier. And it looked like fun!

[candothat]

May I try doing that to you?

[riceballfruit]

Oh, yes, please. I would like that very much.

[candothat]

Thank you. [And he tries something fancy--a twirl and a dip!]

[riceballfruit]

[She beams.] I want to try that! But I don't think I could twirl you.... [She is a little short.]

[candothat]

[He crouches. See, shorter!] Better?

[riceballfruit]

[She giggles, a little, and then tries to twirl him, carefully, though.]

Is it still fun like that?

[candothat]

[This particular twirl doesn't go so smoothly, but again, everyone remains in an upright position. He straightens, laughing.]

I thought that it was fun.

[riceballfruit]

[She doesn't notice a lack of smoothness. In fact, she looks very pleased.]

I think it was fun, too. Maybe we can do more twirls? [Until someone gets dizzy and people no longer remain upright. But that would probably be fun, too.]

[candothat]

[He's quite happy that she's having fun (and so is he). And falling over? Not a bad idea! He straightens and sends her into a set of twirls.]

Do you mind if I ask your name?

[riceballfruit]

[She does them until she's dizzy, giggling a little.]

Not at all. It's Tohru Honda. [A slightly off-balance bow.] And yours, Sir?

It's a pleasure dancing with you, Tohru Honda. [Woah, there. He reaches out to steady her just in case that bow tries to turn into a faceplant.]

Pavel Andreievich Chekov, but my friends find it simplest to call me Pavel, usually.

[riceballfruit]

[Good thing he did, because that's exactly where she was going. Though she laughs about it.]

Thank you. Mister Chekov. [Though she can see why just Pavel is easier.]

It's a pleasure to meet you. You have been a wonderful dancing partner.

[candothat]

[It's always pleasant to meet someone kind with a good sense of humor... even if that humor involves laughing at personal mishaps. There is no better way to get through life than by laughing.]

I must insist on thanking you, and the pleasure is mine entirely. I hope that you aren't too dizzy to dance again.

[riceballfruit]

[Tohru feels much the same way. She had a wonderful time.]

The pleasure is still mine, also, though. And not at all. I can keep dancing all day!

[candothat]

[They will, clearly, need to bump into each other again. Chekov suspects Tohru to be approximately his age and he seldom has a chance to be around peers.]

Then we will split the pleasure. [He smiles at her assertion. At the rate she's going, she'll end up in a dizzy pile on the ground before the day is done.] Unfortunately, I cannot, and so I will leave you to honor someone else with your company.

[It's not flirting. These things just come out of his mouth when he's around girls.]

[Fortunately, she doesn't take it as flirting, simply being considerate and polite.]

Then I'm thankful for the time we had. I hope you take care, Mister Pavel, and that I might see you again. [A bow good-bye.]

[Finally, someone who takes his words for what they are!]

As am I. Take care also, please, and it's a small City, Miss Tohru Honda; we are bound to see each other again. [He returns the bow with such flourish and grandeur as to be comedic before disappearing into the dancing crowd.]
