[Ginny turns up at the hospital, as promised, an hour later, bundled against the chilly October day and bearing pastries and coffee from the place by the Square. She somehow finds Chase, perhaps with the aid of a nurse or two pointing down hallways, and turns up at his side, which she promptly elbows.]

[He really is concerned for her. She's taken some rough knocks in the city, and that's just in the time he remembers. It would do her good to get some time to worry about herself, for a change, but one thing life teaches is that the people who need most get least. So, Chase's shift finished half an hour ago, but he's still here.]

[The thing with being a Weasley is that one makes do with what one has, however little. Ginny manages, and keeps on managing, because the day she stops is the day she lets the City win; and there's not one inch of her that will let her do that. (She's a terrible loser.) And she can't worry about herself when there's family here, and perhaps that's the blessing and curse of the life she's led—she's a lot like her mother in that way.

As it is, she's smiling and she even laughs at his comment, shaking her head.]

I checked my broom at the door. I'm surprised you can still tell what I am. [A joke, a little.] Or maybe the warts and green skin gave me away. Isn't that what Muggles think when they think of my lot?
