[Axl ends the call, inadvertently turning on the video. There’s a shot of a young man in skinny jeans and a t-shirt, soaked completely to the skin before he shoves the phone in his pocket. His voice is heard muffled through his jeans before it turns off.]

Yes. Every few days or so, the something near city wide happens, mostly fun, but sometimes terrible, that makes people lose control of themselves. I believe that the city gods choose us based on emotion. We all appear to be from times of great, heightened emotional episodes in our lives when we are taken. I think they need that energy, and might make it easier to ah- pierce into a new world to kidnap from it.

Self proclaimed, I think. No pantheon I know of and I'm rather well versed on those of the nine.
