[Andy hasn’t done much with himself since he’s come to the City. He hasn’t done much with himself back at home either, for that matter, but maybe it’s time to change that.

He’s never been the ambitious sort, never really thought he’d amount to anything and was fairly content with that thought; he had everything he wanted: his videogames, a good place to crash, a friend. Sometimes that’s all you needed, but then there are times where you need more.

The thought had hit him earlier in that week -- no one knows him, not really, and that was okay because he could now be anything that he wanted. He didn’t have to be Andrew Bergman, college drop-out and gas station attendant. He could be the Jersey Devil, fighter of crime and defender of the weak and downtrodden, so why the hell not?

The costume had come through with him; it had been in his backpack and Andy dons it for tonight. Though looking absolutely ridiculous in the purple, homemade trainwreck, he feels strong, valiant, and on top of the world.]



[The video feed clicks on and there is a masked man smiling goofily into the camera.]

Good evening, citizens of the... er, City! It is I, the Jersey Devil, and I have revealed myself to you tonight to let you know that you should never fear! I will be here, watching over you and the rest of the City, keeping evil doers at bay.

[Which, really, the Jersey Devil hasn’t seen any evil doers yet, but one never knew when they’d pop up!]

Should you need me, just call my name and I will be there to defend you!

[And with that, there is a dramatic cape whoosh of his cape and JD is off to stop crime, or at least attempt to. The camera feed clicks off.

However, later in the night, Andy will shapeshift into his Jersey Devil form, the actual monster, to stretch his legs and get a better look at things from topside of the city. It’s about damn time.]

((ooc: Andy will be around in either costume or JD form, you get to pick which you’d like to encounter! It’s like a choose your own adventure. Andy will mostly be running around doing shenanigans and thinking that he’s all that until he gets bored. Monster icons will be from the account didthemash))

[The transformation isn't all that fancy, but shapeshifting, yay! And, really, Andy is just excited to show off for a cute girl or anyone at this point.

The beast fumbles with the device and has trouble holding it delicately between its claws, but it smiles toothily at Lena in as friendly a way as a giant cryptid can.]

Uh, no. Sasquatch is up in the Pacific Northwest; I do my crime fighting on the east coast. You know, Jersey Devil and all.

My sidekick is the Griggstown Cow.

Nice costume, though! I think that shows a lot of dedication to what you're doing. The superheroes back home don't exactly go all-out on the costumes.

The Jersey Devil. [ Well, he can hardly blame anyone for a lack of creativity in the name, considering he works with people called Captain Ameria or Iron Man for a living. ] Do you have exceptional hearing, or how does the name-calling work?

[Good question. He hadn't given it much thought since he just used the news at home.]

I guess, well... There's the network. Give me a shout on that and I'll come trotting?

Monster? Because scaring Lucy is awesome

[Lucy is locking up the store later than usual because she was stocking new inventory. She turns the key in the door lock, hikes her bag up on her shoulder then pauses. It's dark and she really ought to get her laser screwdriver out. That's what she's got it for, right? Self defense.]

Monster it is!

[The Devil doesn't even notice the woman, slinking along the rooftops with glee. This feels good, this feels like home.

With a stretch of his wings, he glides to the ground, not too far from Lucy and lets out a delighted little neigh. It probably looks really, really strange coming from a giant, hulking monster, though.

And, look! He spots her and gives a little wave with his giant claws, grinning toothily.]
