Here we go again.

[Because Charlie's developed a habit of not showing her face when she's stressed and this kind of weekend is stressful, Charlie's using audio today and she could filter it but that requires effort and she'd just flat out rather not expend more than she has to. This is really just the long way of saying 'charlie hates these weekends so much.']

Hey, Toph? If I said this weekend would be better spent Bending in the park instead of being at work, what would you say?

[There's a bit of silence, a muttered 'jesus' and the audio shuts off.]

[Charlie will later be found in the park, well away from the crowd. She's people watching. She has Phantom and Petrichor with her and they're chasing the occasional miniature ball of fire that she throws with a quick flick of her wrist. It's harmless, she's controlling everything it does, not letting it near anyone or anything and it vanishes within seconds but the animals seem to love it.

And she's dressed for firebending practice. Figure fitting, maroon colored tank top and shorts. Her sandals are off and tucked under the bench and her backpack has several bottles of water stuffed inside.

She really was serious about skiving off work to let off some steam.


After bending practice, Charlie will be found at home on the roof, tending to the garden and trying so very hard to just ignore everything.]

[ Toph goes by to make sure that the Dragon is locked, but soon she shows up in the park in her comfortable earthbending clothes. There are way too many people in the City today, which makes distinguishing certain footsteps more difficult, but she'll totally find Charlie. She knows the way Charlie walks. ]

[Iroh trails along behind Toph. As Toph greets the other girl, he smiles and waves.]

[Don't assume that the park's entirely crowd-free, Charlie. There's a kid with a backpack hanging around--not in a creepy-stalker way, just in a woah-there's-a-chick-shooting-fire way.]

That's a lot fucking cooler than a lighter.

[Charlie looks up at the voice, startling slightly and it takes a moment to locate the source. She almost assumes it's Pavel but there are too many things off about the guy and she's pretty sure he's just a bit taller.]

She's on her way home from Bending practice. Tired. Kinda sweaty but other than that? She's feeling damn good about herself.

Until she spots Ed near the apartment building. Then the world kind of freezes and Charlie stops walking.

Maybe he won't recognize her and will try to eat her again?]

Nope, instead he's stalking over, all bent on space invasion like there's absolutely no reason he shouldn't.]

[ minerva knows the peace that spending time alone to think can bring. watching charlie master her fire skills had been rather revealing; the girl had seemed a little on edge. had minerva had the right, she might have taken human form to admonish charlie for using her power while feeling stressed.

so instead, she remains small and unobtrusive; a grey tabby lights up onto the ledge of the building and sits, back ramrod straight, until charlie has eased her mind enough to be aware of her surroundings. ]

[She is going to flail forever when she sees you, Minerva. Flail and there will be hugs. She's finished teasing the animals, both of whom are now chasing each other, and Charlie sits back to watch.]

[ once she's leapt down from the ledge, minerva pads her way over to stand in front of charlie. her tail twitches as she watches the animals play.

once she's made enough of a show, she turns around to face charlie, and plants her butt down. ]

[ And here's one of said visitors moving through the park before he stops in his tracks watching her from under the shade of a tree.]

[Charlie will notice you in a moment, good sir. She's busy picking up the white fox and hugging him before setting him down again, standing and stretching and taking a look around and---

Oh, shit. Don't mind the staring. You're supposed to be dead.]

[And then she heads over carefully. Phantom and Petrichor follow her and she stops about five feet away from Andy. What she wants to say is 'your name wouldn't be Andy McGee, would it?' What comes out?]

Not what I meant. I have a friend here who, on her world, there are these people called Benders. They can manipulate earth, air, fire or water. Sort of like pyrokinesis and all that.

[Zhaan is wandering through the park, because it's at least marginally quieter than the city and she rather enjoys observing the plants and people. It's an opportunity to find something interesting--like a girl creating fire.

Also, she is indeed blue.]

That is a very impressive display. I haven't known any species able to create fire besides the Sheyang.

[What. Charlie's a bit stunned by the blue person but she recovers. Rather, she remembers her manners somehow despite the fact that her brain is flailing and going 'the person is blue!' over and over.]

Thank you. Um...I've never heard of the Sheyang.

[She manages better than the only other human Zhaan knows. Of course, Zhaan doesn't realize that this girl is human, believing them to be without much (if any) in the way of special abilities. She smiles amiably, though.]

I've only had a few encounters myself, but they are a reptilian species capable of breathing fire. I've never known them to be able to exercise this kind of control...
