[ Ariadne is sitting on the couch, an orange kitten curled up on her lap. Behind her is a man, who seems to be holding a cup of coffee and looking out the window. ]

Well. [ She pauses, rubbing the back of her neck. ] My father's here, but if anyone else would like to say hello or needs anything, I'm still available. He said he'll be going out for a walk in a little bit anyway.

[ As if on cue, the man pulls away from the window and heads for the kitchen. Ariadne watches him go, some of the tension gone when she looks back at the camera. ]

I'm Ariadne. Welcome to the City.

Because there's no easy answer.

I'm human now, but I'm not human always.

[Pause.]

I'm a concept. I like this shape best, though.

[ Interjecting politely. ]

Yes. Right. Well, for the record, she's not in the jar on purpose. Well, it is on purpose, but not against her will. That'd be terrible.

Oh. Yes. Where are my manners? I'm Pithos. Pithos is me and I am him.

[ A beat. ] Not a box. Not at all.

Right. A jar.

... You're a jar?

[pithos]

Ah, well. That bit's a bit, well. Odd.

Was a jar once, but not a jar now. Though, let's face it — 'Pithos'.

[ Which happens to mean 'jar' in Greek. Which he just assumes Ariadne knows since, well. Ariadne. ]

[ She is not entirely sure that she hasn't been drugged at the moment, but she'll go with it. ]
