[ Ariadne is sitting on the couch, an orange kitten curled up on her lap. Behind her is a man, who seems to be holding a cup of coffee and looking out the window. ]

Well. [ She pauses, rubbing the back of her neck. ] My father's here, but if anyone else would like to say hello or needs anything, I'm still available. He said he'll be going out for a walk in a little bit anyway.

[ As if on cue, the man pulls away from the window and heads for the kitchen. Ariadne watches him go, some of the tension gone when she looks back at the camera. ]

I'm Ariadne. Welcome to the City.

Was a jar once, but not a jar now. Though, let's face it — 'Pithos'.

[ Which happens to mean 'jar' in Greek. Which he just assumes Ariadne knows since, well. Ariadne. ]

The jar of jars, apparently.

[ She is not entirely sure that she hasn't been drugged at the moment, but she'll go with it. ]

[ He makes an embarrassed face. ]

Oh, no no no. Not really, no. There are plenty of jars in the world. Jars upon jars, really. I'm just one out of a whole lot. I just, you know. Happen to have had quite precious cargo.

[boutant]

Even if most people remember you as a box, you're quite famous.

[pithos]

[ Fluster! ]

Infamous is perhaps more appropriate. Yes?

[boutant]

Mm, I suppose so. Still.

[pithos]

Still. Well, yes. [ He clears his throat. ] Of the two of us, Elpis is the one who deserves all the attention, I think.

No. No, I know.

[boutant]

Well, I've never met someone who used to be a jar before. I wouldn't mind talking to you, if you don't mind talking to me.

[pithos]

Oh, of course not. I don't mind at all, just, well. [ He squints apologetically. ] I'm just not particularly interesting. No hard feelings, of course. At least. I hope.

[boutant]

I think you're interesting. But no, no hard feelings at all.
