[ Coulson's sitting on a bench in the park. There's a black labrador puppy curled up by his feet, tongue lolling out.

To the very trained and familiar observer, it'll be clear that Coulson's still holding himself a little more stiffly than usual, but for the most part he looks relaxed and calm. Approachable, even. ]

I'm going to have to find you a name, won't I? [ The puppy whines happily.

Coulson shakes his head slowly. When he speaks again, his voice in the same deliberate and even tone, he seems to be addressing empty air: ] Barton, if you're going to follow me around, at least be more subtle about it.

[ ooc; Feel free to run into him at the park or on his way home. Coulson adopted a puppy from Thor. Also, tags may or may not contain spoilers, so proceed with caution? ]

[ There's a comment on the way about how there's no such thing as too far when the last bit comes and Clint looks as if he's won the lottery. ]

This is why you're my favourite, sir. [ Pause. ] I'll find him a coat to go with it, flamboyant and billowing. Everyone'll think he's badass.

He'll be terrifying. [ His face completely blank, okay. ]

You mean that's not the look Fury goes for? [ Not that it has much affect on him. ] It beats a pirate hat.

Who says it isn't.

[ Thank you, Clint, now he's imagining his boss in a pirate hat. ]

[ He works his own kind of evil. ]

If he had more bite it'd be uncanny.

[ Mental images Phil didn't need. ]

It's been a slow couple of weeks. What can I say?

[ Just this face. ]

[ Shielding Fury's eyes. ] You're scaring the puppy.

I'm not. [ Clint. You're-- kind of adorable. ]

Look, sir, it washes off me 'cause I'm me, but the pup's got a lot to learn. [ Don't tell anyone. ]

So you think you need to protect him from me. [ Lips twitching. ] Shouldn't it be the other way around?

[ Sheepishly. ] Nothing I do to protect him from. [ Except half of the things he does. ]

I'll take that as a promise.

[ There's a hesitant pause, and then he turns to look at him suspiciously. ] Are you using reverse psychology on me? Lay it out like a challenge so I'll be on my best behaviour to prove you wrong. [ Another pause. ] 'Cause I think it's working.

[ With a small smile. ] Good.
