Like I said, witches exist only to spread feelings of despair, anger, hatred, and hopelessness. If they were left unchecked, there's no telling how much trouble humanity would be in. By fighting the witches, magical girls spread hope throughout the world.

And in exchange for this task, I can grant their greatest wish. [It sounds almost pleased about this.] Anything at all!

Not so sound rude, but why do you care about what happens to humanity?

It's a terrible thing for any species to go extinct, don't you think?

Yeah, I do.

Not only that, but even though they're not as advanced in science or technology as other species, humans are unique in that the range of emotions you can produce is far greater than any other. It's fascinating, in a way.

In a manner of speaking, yes.

But this city is strange... I don't even know if my powers would work here.

Is there some way you could find out?

Possibly.

I suppose I could try forming a contract with someone...

And since there aren't any witches here, if the contract worked, that person wouldn't have to do any fighting.

But I could still make that person's wish come true.

Why would you, then? If there's no witches here, what's the point of granting wishes?

That's just how it works. Even if I'm on a different planet, I can't change the rules. I'm not even sure that my power to grant wishes will work the same way here.

It's worth a try, though! You never know when a witch or some other evil thing might show up.

No, I mean -- are you just doing this to see if you can? Why not just relax?

[ Here, he'll even pet you. Relaxing is nice, right? ]

[Oh, he likes that. Or, well, at least he seems to, if the way he swishes his tail and leans into it is any indication.]

Granting wishes isn't a difficult thing for me to do. If I can spread hope to people here, too, why shouldn't I try?

Not sure what I'd wish for, if it were me. I don't think you can get all those who want to go back home out of here.

No, I don't think so either. I can't even get myself out of here.

But the wish doesn't have to be something big like that. It could be any little thing, really.

... Wouldn't mind some Romulan Ale. I've got a friend who'd like to try it.

[There's nothing judgmental or particularly curious in his tone; he sounds only as though he wants to be sure of it.]

[ It's the only thing he can think of that doesn't seem like it might have obvious consequences. ]

[He responds with another tail-swish and shakes himself out.]
