006 ✎ when the cure is made of poison then it's hard to rest your eyes

[ Elena is taking a walk. Other than running, it's helping clear her head, especially when her head is filled with Shakespearean murder and memories of Mystic Falls. She's standing at the fountain she appeared in that first day - was dropped in is more like it. Right now, it's a long lunch but seeing as Dean's her boss, he hopefully won't mind. It's not like she does this every day.

when the video feed cuts on, Elena's now sitting at the fountain. ]

I was working and missed the hot springs that sprang up. [ say that five times fast. but, it gave her more reason to take a long hot bath that night. ] Was that a repeating curse or did it happen the one time? [ she'd like to not miss it the second time around.

she doesn't have much else to say right this second. it's a difficult day. no leads in the murder cases. no real way to work through what happened back home with Stefan and the bridge. who can she even talk to? maybe... ]

What are you doing tonight?

[ It would be - amazing to have Caroline or Bonnie here. But she doesn't have them. Most of her close friends are men.

she gets up again and turns off the feed.

she walks back to the station, drops her stuff off at her desk and knocks on Dean's door ]

[ The rest of the day goes smoothly. Elena knows she eventually needs to find a substitute Caroline or Bonnie. She's a woman whose made up her mind. She had to open up to someone. Sam would listen. And Dean had enough problems and Dean was still her boss.

Around the time her shift ends, Elena's on one final call. ]

[Sam walks in a few minutes before the end of the shift, looking around curiously. He's been here before, of course, but usually he's coming here to bring Dean something or run some errand.]

[ And Elena will distract away as she steps inside! She closes the door behind her before facing him. ]

We're not going to find who did this, are we?

[Dean scrubs a hand over his hair and stands up, hands resting against the desk.]

Probably not. We'll keep the case open but...[He trails off, shaking his head.] Kind of the MO around here.

So, this person or - people are going to get away with it. [ And she sounds like someone straight out of a Law & Order episode. She goes over and sits in a free chair. ] Charlie dies and...
