53rd Slay [Accidental Video | Action]

[Buffy is in at home beating on the punching bag. Her skin is dripping sweat so it's obvious she's been at this a while. She's got ear buds in her ears and the tinny sound of pop music can be heard even from where the device is sitting on a stool a few feet away. She turns on the punching bag with a flying roundhouse kick that snaps the chain it's hanging from and sends it sailing across the room to knock the device off the table. She stands with her hands at the small of her back for a moment before walking over to retrieve the device, noticing it's recording when she does.]

So that's how I'm dealing with the ticking. How's everyone else doing?

What can I say? I'm a super girl. Also, carpenters, harder to find then you might thing. The punching bag thing is just a chain. I can redo it.

Well I think the only one I know of is Jesus off the top of my head, and I doubt he'd be particularly helpful except in an 'I know you can do it!' sort of bullshit motivational way.

See, that was the one I was thinking of. Plus Xander, who is a friend back home and not here. Now. he used to be. Also, I'm good with the motivational thing. I once gave a motivational speech to the mail man.

So what are you doing to help the ticking thing-y?

You know, I can see where a mail man might be in need of a good motivational speech. And they're state employees; I wonder if you can get a tax break for like, therapy services rendered or something.

I had a beer earlier? Which didn't really do a whole lot but I was okay with it. Talking to people isn't working like it did the first couple'a days I was here.

Sort of what I thought. I mean, he delivers mail through wind, rain, snow, sleet and hail and no one ever says thank you. I should check into that. I could use a tax break.

I think you've got to hit the hard stuff for this and I'm pretty sure it's a curse so if you can avoid going insane by midnight, you should be good.

I wonder how you address mail to the postman. If you wanted to give him a thank you card or something. I guess you just meet him by the box and tell him not to deliver it.

Well, so far I've got a pretty good track record for not going insane, so the odds are on my side. How about you? Not insane?

I'm guessing that would work. I didn't try the thank you card route but he probably would have appreciated it and is the post man like the little kids that come visit you on Halloween? Is it kosher to give him homemade brownies and carmel apples or is that a no no because there might be razor blades in the apples and roofies in the brownies?

That depends on who you ask. I've had a couple of runs. One of them might have been hallucinogenic demon induced or not. The jury is still out on that one.

Well if I were a postman I really doubt I'd say no to people giving me brownies, especially if it was raining or something. I don't think they get offered enough gifts to be warned against things like that? The mail service is pretty strict about shit though - I guess as long as you don't try and give it to him in a plain brown package.

[...] Right, well, that's definitely like, two runs and a demon up on me.

I guess that does kind of scream bomb or anthrax if you're a postman then you have to get the fire department out and the bomb squad and hey it was just a brownie that possibly posed the risk of sugar coma but likely no. Unless Dawn made it and then definitely risking a sugar coma but yummy enough to make it worth it.

[Uh oh and wincing because she's pretty sure she just scared him.] If it helps, I think I'm totally sane.

Yeah, so just like, wrap it up in some of that clear shit that never cooperates and it seems like you'd be cool. Dawn yourrrr... sister?

She's eighteen and big on the 'I'm not a baby' thing right now but I think she's been big on that since she was fourteen.

Hey, I know some people still trying to make that point clear. Babies have it pretty good though. Aside from the inability to talk. Maybe it's just small kids. And old people. And some young people. Maybe it depends.

Yeah but we're always gung ho to get out there and be independent and do everything on our own. No one tells us that on our own sucks.

[Pause] Okay so everyone tells us that. We just don't believe it.

Yeah it's probably more the second one than the former. Indestructible and all in youth. [He waves nine fingers at her.] Not so much later on, right?

[She arches an eyebrow at the display.] Some of us more than others. You have nine fingers. What happened?

Sort of girlfriend accidentally slammed it in a door. And then a dog ate it when I was shooting this assassin.

I guess that rules out re-attachment.

The best part is, it actually had been reattached, and then this guy like tore, ... well, it wasn't, and then the dog ate it, so I couldn't reattach the reattachment.

You have really bad luck with that finger.

Not anymore! But yeah, it was a fun.. thing. Good excuse to put off marriage and shit though - no finger.

[That makes Buffy laugh out loud.]

You must really have no wanted to get married.
