The curses take people's reason, alter their perceptions.

The results, however these effects are caused, are as if these people have been fed incredibly powerful psychoactive drugs against their will. I would hardly consider them to blame.

Do they? The most recent curse looked more like a lowering of people's inhibitions. I've observed that the majority draw on aspects of people's personalities, their histories. They're not random. That suggests something other than induced psychosis.

I'm not saying we're to blame. I'm saying it might be worth considering how much we're complicit.

I think people blame the curses, or whatever causes them, because it gives them the illusion that they're in control of what's happening to them, when there not. ...which is pretty weird to say, considering the curses function around a total lack of control. It's more being able to put a label on that lack of control than the lack itself. If you can label it, it's less scary, you know?

I think that's close. I think it's less scary to be able to dismiss actions you're uncomfortable with as being out of your control.

Not when superstition's another word for miscomprehension.
