[ The video only really shows Estelle's legs and the occasional glint of her blade as Tyr moves back. ]

[ Or it would just be that if drops of blood weren't just scattered across the sand. ]

[ With that, the message ends, just cutting off Estelle's response back to him. ]

[ Tyr's neck and the underside of his chin are all that's shown as he speaks in a quiet, somewhat choked voice. As far as location goes, all that's obvious about it is that he's laying in the sand, under the shade of some structure. ]

I, I tried... Sorry... [ And with some more strength: ] Be careful...And save her for me.

[ Some time later, a black shadow covers the entire screen, only to disappear a few seconds later as the device slips out of his hand, showing the sky overhead. ]


[ ooc: Adding to the death count... He'll be around a little while longer for anyone who wants to respond. That shadow at the end would be Tyr's rune leaving his hand to attach itself to Yuri! ]

Just make sure to tell them to keep her from using magic. That's the only way...

[ When he sees her send it, he can only hope they get it in time. They had to have retreated from fighting Estelle, right? ]

[Rita's had no contact with Yuri or Flynn. Only Judith, and they tried to brainstorm a way to fix things...They'd better get the message.

At Tyr's next statement, though, Rita snaps her focus back to him and shakes her head.]

Why? What about you?

[ They really, really have to... Before something happens. ]

There's nothing I can do with just this rune. [ He says it flatly, a simple statement of fact in his mind. ] It's better off with someone else.

Keep it! In case- [Someone could get hurt...At this rate, someone will almost certainly get hurt and need healing.

After a moment, Rita moves one of her hands and removes the fire rune from her skin.]

[ He shakes his head and takes a step back. ]

No way. You need that--you're a better mage than I am, too.

[ She especially needs some way to defend herself. He...still likes to think he could fight with his bare hands if he had to, even if he's not as confident in that now. ]

[She frowns and steps forward, staying in his space.]

You're a perfectly good mage, Tyr! Besides, Klarth gave me his blastia, so you need this!

[ WE DEFINITELY DO. ]

[ He narrows his eyes down at it, feeling unsure. If she has a blastia, he guesses that a rune is useless. After a moment, he offers out his left hand.

But he's not going to say anything. He doesn't want to say that he'll die all the same if all he has is magic. ]

[A fire rune certainly is, at least. She can't exactly keep it for herself even as a backup, though--not when Tyr doesn't have anything else anymore. The rune gets affixed to his hand again, and she looks back up at him. He'd better not die again.]

There...Just in case.

[ Tyr has no intention of dying again, even if he feels so weak now. How could he die so easily? It wasn't right. ]

[ He flexes his hand, glad to at least feel it's power again. ]

Let's stay in here from now on, though. Unless we have to face Estelle...

[Rita doesn't think he's weak. It was against Estelle...Rita could never bring herself to fight her friend at all.]

...Yeah. They better get back to us soon...

[ And now Tyr knows he's not the same as he was before. He could have killed Estelle, but she would have never deserved that fate, even if she did kill him instead... ]

They have to... [ He squeezes her hand. ] Now let's get lunch. For our strength.

[Rita doesn't know what Tyr would have done, if...Estelle hadn't gotten him. The idea of Estelle being hurt by anyone--even if she is possessed--makes her tense.]

...Right. For strength. [She sure doesn't feel hungry.]

[ He doesn't want to think of what hurting Estelle would have done to their relationship. He thinks Estelle would understand, but he doesn't think neither Rita nor Yuri would have forgiven him. ]

Right. Come on. [ He doesn't have any appetite, but knows they should eat. ]

[Rita doesn't want to think about it, either. She's worried about Yuri--not just because Estelle could hurt him, but because he might be prepared to kill her like he nearly killed Tyr.]

Let's--let's go. [She tries to shake the thoughts from her head and takes the lead again. She should be acting stronger. Tyr's the one who died and lost his rune.]

[ Tyr for one wouldn't doubt if Yuri would kill Estelle if it came down to it. His hands have been bloodied before. And Tyr will never forget that.

Not that he's thinking of it now. He's thinking of the rune and the possibility of it killing people all over again. The City is the perfect place for it. Tyr says nothing and lets Rita lead the way to the supplies. ]

[Rita honestly doesn't know. She just wishes it weren't like this at all.

She keeps a tight hold of Tyr's hand as she silently leads him to the supplies. It's not far and quickly comes into view: a couple dozen people still milling around a small pile of containers.

[ It shouldn't be like this. None of this should happen.

Feeling how tightly she holds his hand, he glances over to her and wonders what she could be thinking about. There's a lot on his mind, but... Honestly, he's happy she shares his feelings right now. ]

I hope they're going to go back for more soon...

[None of it. Rita thought she was prepared to remain in the City with Tyr for however long--and she thinks she still is--but this is a nightmare.

She glances back at him, then turns her focus forward to the dwindling pile.]

Most people can get through...They might not bother.

[ Even with everything that happened...he's still prepared to stay. Part of him really doesn't want to let go of her, no matter how bad things are.

He feels his spirits plummet when she says that. ]

They can't just leave us here to starve.

[Rita could never choose between one friend and another. Tyr's importance to her is special, different, like nobody else...She doesn't ever want to have to leave him. But what if they end up hurting each other-

No, she shouldn't be thinking like that. It's exactly the kind of thing she'd be mad at Tyr for saying.]

I don't know. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. We have no idea what they're doing with all of this.

[ He'd assure here that he'd stop her from ever hurting him, and he...likes to think she could stop him, too. As long as the rune is sealed... ]

They have to be helping us. Even with the curses, you know we wouldn't just be completely abandoned.

[They managed last time. She just has to remind herself sometimes that they can deal with it when things get bad like this.]

I'll believe it when we're out of here.

[And they're close enough now that she can get them some rations--dried meat and bread. Rita makes a displeased face.]

[ They can deal with anything, Tyr thinks. But hearing her talk like this makes him feel just a bit helpless. ] Rita...

[ He tries to joke as he grabs some for himself. ] At least it's not glass.
