Looking for something in particular, Miss Weasley?

[ professor janeway is new to hogwarts teaching-wise, but was here not too long ago as a student herself. she was in her sixth year when ginny and the other current seventh years were in their first; her seventh when they were in their second. now she's back, picking up the mantle of astronomy professor in the wake of the one that stepped down. the majority of the students in the non-slytherin houses don't seem to care much for having an ex-slytherin teaching astronomy, but it's no skin of her nose. if slytherin stereotypes didn't bug her as a student, they're not going to have much impact on her now that she's a teacher. she knows why she belonged in that house, and that's all that matters. ]

[Ginny's already got two books in hand for Ancient Runes and DADA and she's scanning through the shelves for her last one, because never let it be said that the youngest of the Weasley clan isn't as academically inclined as her oldest brothers. (All of them, really, but everyone knows what the twins would rather do than study, and Ron, well.) When Janeway comes up to her, she doesn't jump, but she does turn with a smile. What? House rivalry is all very well and good, but when it comes to professors, what does it matter? She doesn't play favourites. That's what really makes her alright in Ginny's book.

Professor! Yes, I'm just... Theories of Transubstantial Transfiguration, have you seen it? I could have sworn no one else would check it out over the weekend, but obviously Quidditch and Hogsmeade aren't enough of a distraction.

[The courtyard is an excellent place to be. Chekov, seventh-year Ravenclaw Seeker and fan of socializing with all of the Houses, can't not talk to Ginny, even if they are The Deadliest of Rivals (or maybe that only really applies to the team captains).]

[You may walk so casually along those hallways, Weasley, but suddenly! Your elbow is being grabbed, and there's a giddy looking Hufflepuff on your arm now, leading you to the Great Hall.]

[What's this! Accosted by a 'Puff on the way to lunch! Ginny grins and lets herself be steered, eager to hear this obviously exciting news.]

[Oh, look. Ginny isn't the only one studying in the library, though whether this Dean Winchester is any more attentive to schoolwork than his regular self is uncertain. It's a good thing he has a good memory and can improvise well. That and he's notorious for protecting the younger kids from bullies and thus has all sorts of... unusual spells up his sleeve, thanks to his father, who is well-known for fighting evil.

'Mr. Casanova' leans over the book he is reading and tries to get Ginny's attention. Can he help it if he thinks she's cute? He tries whispering her name a few times, then rolls up a ball of notepaper and chucks it at her head.

Oh, yes: and he's British now, complete with accent. I've no idea why. It just happened.]

[Ginny may be trying to hunt down a textbook but that doesn't mean she is less aware of her surroundings, her reflexes dulled by distraction. She is a Chaser, after all, and whether it's a Quaffle or a wad of paper, she's sharp and she catches it before it hits her, looking down at it with a raised eyebrow then over at him.]

[Not unkind, just amused.]

[ chakotay is that one random person who doesn't seem to be enjoying himself in hogsmeade. he's sitting at a table in the three broomsticks, trying desperately to think of what on earth is going wrong with his latest ideas. he's that one guy the ministry isn't fond of, but they can't quite figure out what to do with him. dark arts wielder? no, not really. but he's definitely walked a fine line since he was appointed an international liaison.

he doesn't really look too happy, either. in fact, he's cradling his butterbeer like it's the most important thing in his life right now. something is very clearly bothering him.

[It's unusual for Ginny Weasley to go to Hogsmeade alone—either she's with friends or on a date but for now, she's just ducking in to get a butterbeer and maybe she'll meet up with someone later. They're not here yet, though, and as she places an order at the bar, she spots Chakotay. She recognises him, vaguely, perhaps from visiting the Ministry to see her father or stories from her father.

She comes over to him, ducking her head a bit to make eye contact.]

Hullo. Mister... Chakotay, right?

[ With a butterbeer in each hand, Clint takes advantage of the currently empty table around her and heads straight over, sitting down opposite her as he puts a drink down in front of each of them.

He grins across the table, taking a swallow with a sigh as he does, and looking a lot cleaner than he had done that morning by the end of practice. ]

Great practice this morning. Think we can pull it off?

[Well, she knew someone she knew would turn up eventually. The little leatherbound notebook she's been scribbling tactics into gets snapped shut, her quill stuck behind her ear, and she grins back and takes the offered butterbeer.]

I know we can pull it off, Barton. As long as we play like we have since the start of the school year, the Cup's ours.

[Huff. Someone can't study at the library - everyone and their owl is cramming for the N.E.W.Ts there and his usual spots are taken by a few Ravenclaws planning strategy for the Quidditch match. So instead, somebody has found the seat besides Ginny, and puts the books down utterly silently, sitting there to study with her.]

[Still ever so chatty.]

[She looks up from her Transfiguration textbook when he sits, mildly startled if only for his silent approach. And also why he's decided to sit with her at all, but a quick glance around the room answers that for her soon enough.]

[ There's a first year walking through the courtyard - a small one, even when considered among the rest of Hogwarts' youngest students. He's been sorted off into Slytherin, not a call he's found himself entirely pleased with. The way some students will eye him with suspicion makes him want to point out that he isn't actually evil, though it doesn't seem likely to accomplish much. Sure, he's opportunistic, manipulative every now and again - but it isn't like he's malicious about it. That has to count for something, right?

Well, he thinks so, anyway.

At any rate, he's making his way across, entirely on his own. He hasn't made a good many friends in his own house, either. ]

[Well, Slytherin or not, Ginny likes first years well enough. She catches sight of him alone and it makes her frown a bit because most firsties stick together in a new, big place like Hogwarts. So she approaches him with her armful of books.]

[ Sure is one Jim in jeans and a tee soaring around the pitch, tossing the quaffle up and over. Whatever skills he had as the captain of a starship are transferred to his broomplay, quite content to go loop-the-looping and ignore gravity. ]

[The rest of the team has run off with the end of practice, but these two kids are clearlt still hanging around. Ginny watches him from the ground for a few moments, admiring his form, before throwing her leg over her broom and kicking off to follow. She swoops in behind him and steals the Quaffle, grinning.]
