Just because I've been here for years doesn't mean I want to play any of the City's games.

[Behold Ginny Weasley, sitting on some rocks at the beach (because obviously the beach party wasn't enough), the sleeves of her blouse rolled up and her vivid hair pulled back into a wind-tousled bun. She's been restless lately, she's been off exploring judging by the sunburn and the new smattering of freckles; but, most importantly, she's found a little something shiny in the sand, washed up with the waves.]

But like it or not—

[She exhales, lifts her wand and with it, a key levitating in the air because she's not stupid enough to touch it after all she's seen on the network.]

Anonymous, I have something of yours. [Then she cracks a bit of a grin.] Should I send it in person or by owl post? Does this mean I saved the day? Ten points to the City for making it appropriately Gryffindor-coloured.

I'm sorry; I'm not familiar with that saying. Should I be?

[She laughs, ducking her head.]

I think I've only really explained it to Jim. I went to a boarding school and the students were put into different Houses based on their strongest or best qualities—they'd be living and studying with like-minded people, that sort of thing. I'm Gryffindor, my whole family is. Daring, nerve, chivalry, so on.

[ oh, that's interesting. ]

What are the other houses?

Ravenclaw's all about wit, knowledge. Very clever. Hufflepuffs are loyal and hardworking. And then the really ambitious people go to Slytherin.

Supposedly, of course. Everyone's got a bit of everything in them.

Of course. A person can't be defined by one set of traits alone. I assume people are put into these houses based on which of these traits is strongest in them?

Absolutely. And sometimes it isn't clear right away—like it isn't a surprise why me and my family are all Gryffindor but I've got friends who've... Well, they've never had to prove it to me, but they've shown everyone else, too.

[ nodding. ]

Based on that, I suppose I'd belong in the latter house. Slytherin, was it?

[ the things people say when they're unaware of that house's dark ties. (that doesn't change the fact that the woman would be sorted into that house in a heartbeat.) ]

[She's met some good Slytherins, as reluctant as she is to admit as much. And the House will change in a few years, she's sure. She hopes.]

Slytherin. Ambition and drive aren't bad things. But I think you'd do well in Ravenclaw, too. Maybe most of you.

[ she laughs, shakes her head. ] Just because we have a lot of scientific and technological knowledge that surpasses most of the time periods represented here and have been taught to think quick on our feet doesn't mean that dominates what defines who we are.

That's not why.

[She crosses her arms, amused.]

Just because I leap without looking doesn't mean I don't think at all, that I'm not loyal, or anything else. A person can be between two Houses.

[She doesn't know that Harry was given a choice. She knows that the Hat debates where to put you and considers all options.]
