[ well. this is embarrassing. asami can't say for sure how long it's been since she's last seen your ugly mug, polychromatic, but she definitely recognizes it upon sight... though it had taken her a few moments to remember that she was supposed to remember you at all.

seems almost poetic that she'd turn up at the exact same place she had the first time around. heck, she'll even give the fixed-up carousel a wistful pat along one of its weird plastic animals' snouts... though don't mistake the oddly sentimental gesture for happiness or relief, or anything silly like that. she still isn't all that happy to be here oops.

after a while, she'll fish out that strange phone gadget she'd been taking the time to acquaint herself with the last time, and quickly scan through the contacts. there's an odd twist to her lips when she sees a few familiar faces... and notices a few missing.

eventually, she turns on the video option. ]

So! Long time no see. [ a pause. ] I think.

[ and because she still hadn't been able to figure out that tricky filtering thing: ] Korra, I hope you still have a room available... I don't think this place is ready to let go of me yet.

[ Aaaaand on the off-chance she doesn't remember him (she likely doesn't), he kicks the bonhomie down a notch. ]

I'm not sure whether to say 'welcome back' or 'my sympathies that you're here.'

If it makes you feel any better, I'm not sure which one I'd rather have. But thanks for the sentiment anyway.

You as well. [ His smile turns a smidge sheepish. ] I actually haven't had a chance to speak to Mako. Not since he's come back, anyway. [ Although his alter-ego did electrocute him, on a chance encounter in the Underground. Oops? ] I could drop by once you're settled in. Bring a plate of tiramisu over. It'll be like old times. [ Except for the niggling issue of half the party not remembering him. Ahaha...ha. ]

Really? [ she finds it a touch odd... if he's as close to them all as he says he is, and the others have been here as long as she thinks they have...

[With the recent updates from those who call themselves Anonymous, Mako has been keeping a closer eye on his device for anything important. For Bolin's name. He uses lunch time to stay up to date, this time on a bench in the City with a measly meal in his lap (the beach is too far out from action to stay there all day).

He's in mid-bite on a dumpling when Asami's face catches him off guard. A portion of his face time is spent with his knuckles over his mouth as he swallows, but soon enough he hunches over to engage.]

Hey, you're back.

[ there's no surprise on her end upon seeing him, having already spotted his name in her contacts list earlier. it's an odd mixture of relief and sadness tat she regards him with, instead. she's glad he's here, just as much as she's sorry he still is. ]

[It's not that he isn't happy to see Asami. A part of him is renewed, in fact, but he's taking Bolin's disappearance pretty hard. He's relieved Bolin is home and he misses his company, he needs his company, and he shares the same mixed feelings about Asami's presence: both glad and sorry to see her.]

[ a whole month? she can't help but cringe at that... yikes. a lot can happen in a month. especially in a place like this. there was the obvious, of course, but bringing that up seems like a faux pas right now... ]

Back where it all began. [ she shifts the camera a bit so he can see the carousel behind her. ] How's it been...?

[He actually doesn't recognize it at first now that it's in-tact. When he does, he acknowledges her location with a tired breath, and he finishes his food in one bite. He gathers the napkin in his lap to clean his hand before tossing it in a nearby waste bin.]

It's been better. I'll tell you later. [He'd rather not share the story of getting his ass kicked on camera.] Stay there, I'll come meet you.

[He hangs up.]

[ soooo after mako's filled her in on... almost all that's happened since her disappearance, it's safe to say that asami is more than a little apprehensive as she walks back into the beach house. when she'd made that broadcast earlier, she hadn't realized that the korra she was referring to is actually almost a decade younger than she'd remembered.

she looks around. ]

The house is still standing, at least?

[Still standing, but it seems to shake as a wee baby Korra comes running out]

[And then she stops suddenly, and points an accusing finger at Asami.]

[Mako follows up from behind. He seems a little distracted as he glances around the room, where he's pretty sure each of the items within have been touched and handled and it bothers him.

He begins opening drawers, looking for a marker.]

Korra, this is Asami. Asami... Korra, thirteen years younger. [He glances back to sort of frown, flopping a hand. He can't explain it beyond that.]

[ ah, a voice option. on the one hand, it's a touch more familiar, like the phones she's used to back home, but on the other hand, she's still in that pesky video option, and that's just a little unfair, don't you think?

still, she gives the screen a sheepish grin and shrug. ]

[ bones is just a bit more careful with showing his face around on the network these days, although he still does that from time to time. it's just that asami is a stranger for now, isn't she? bones might want the chance to back off and all. ]

Don't think anyone really is, darling, although if you want a bit more specificity, your name hasn't been on the list since the day my friend and I got dragged to this place roughly a month ago. [ and he and jim obsessively check the network all the time. ] You might have been gone for longer than that, though.
